On 11/17/2025 in Pinehurst, Texas, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare-check involving Shane Moresco who was reported threatening suicide with a firearm at a cemetery in Magnolia. He evaded custody, traveled into neighboring Harris County, then barricaded himself inside a bathroom of a McDonald’s at 32323 Highway 249 in Pinehurst. During attempts to negotiate his surrender, Moresco fired a single shot and died at the scene. The incident is under joint investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Rangers, and other agencies.

On 11/14/2025 at about 3 a.m. officers attempted to stop a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk for a city ordinance violation. The man fled on foot into the area of Elmendorf Lake and was pursued briefly by officers. He jumped into the lake and disappeared under the surface. Officers heard distress sounds and one entered the water but lost sight of him. His body was recovered later by Texas Game Wardens.

On 11/05/2025 at around 10:33 p.m. CT, DPS troopers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Marshawn Kneeland for a traffic violation on the northbound Dallas North Tollway near Keller Springs Blvd. The driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued until troopers lost visual of the vehicle. The vehicle was later found abandoned after crashing in the southbound lanes of Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway. During the subsequent search, officers received information that Kneeland had expressed suicidal intent and sent goodbye messages to loved ones. At approximately 1:31 a.m. on 11/06/2025, Kneeland was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On 11/04/2025, Dallas police closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near St. Augustine Road after a driver stopped on the shoulder and refused to exit the vehicle. SWAT officers were called to the scene and engaged in a prolonged standoff. As tactical units approached, the driver produced a firearm and shot themself inside the vehicle. On November 2, 2025, officers from the Cedar Park Police Department responded to a stabbing at the Top Spin Karaoke & Wing Bar on S. Lakeline Boulevard. Police arrived around 3:55 a.m. after a 911 call reporting a man shooting at unoccupied vehicles. The man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On October 31, 2025 at approximately 2:45 p.m., an off-duty deputy of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was placing his child in his vehicle when Darrius Williams, 27, reportedly attempted to enter the deputy’s vehicle. The deputy gave multiple verbal commands; when Williams allegedly opened the passenger side door, the deputy discharged his firearm, striking Williams multiple times. On 10/01/2025, Euless police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex near Raider Drive and Euless Boulevard. A woman was shot and transported to the hospital by a friend. On 09/29/2025, a 16-year-old driver in a stolen Chevrolet truck was pursued by police through downtown Lufkin. The chase ended violently at the intersection of Third Street and Frank Street when the truck crashed into a Ford Explorer driven by Morgan Wright, 40. Wright suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a Tyler hospital, where she died later that evening. Wright was a speech pathologist at Lufkin ISD and the wife of Wells ISD superintendent Friday Wright. She is survived by her husband and two young children.

On 09/24/2025, at approximately 6:40 a.m., 29-year-old Joshua Jahn allegedly opened fire at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway in Dallas. He fired at the building and a transport van in the sallyport, striking three ICE detainees inside. One detainee was killed, and two others remain in critical condition. Jahn was later found on a nearby rooftop, dead by suicide under police duress. Ammunition at the scene was claimed by the FBI to have been engraved with “anti-ICE” messages. Oddly, no INCE officers were shot in an event which only targeted migrants. The FBI, Dallas Police Department, and ICE confirmed the incident and are conducting an investigation.

On 09/12/2025, Dawson County deputies attempted a traffic stop on 33-year-old Rosendo Gaitan Jr. after reports he was experiencing a mental episode. Deputies allege that he did not stop, and a pursuit ensued. After the vehicle came to a stop, Gaitan exited with a gun and fired toward deputies. An officer opened fire and killed him.

Jose Luis Nunez Morales, 60, was shot and killed by a Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office deputy on the 9100 block of Highway 87 in south Lubbock. Deputies responded to reports of a man with a gun around 11 a.m. Police alleged that Morales reached for a handgun, and police shot and killed him. A second person at the scene was also injured by police bullets and is in unknown condition. The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating, and the deputy has been placed on administrative leave.

On 09/12/2025, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to execute a warrant at a home on the 2000 block of Shadow Rock Drive in Kingwood. Police alleged that the 46-year-old man inside barricaded himself, fired shots from the home, and then set the house on fire. After the fire was extinguished, fire crews discovered a deceased body and a rifle in the rubble. The man was wanted on felony assault of a family member and a protective order violation. Police had surrounded the house with SWAT and over 30 emergency vehicles, and multiple nearby schools were placed on lockdown during the standoff. The investigation is ongoing.
