On 08/31/2025, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Grand Prairie police responded to a 911 call from a woman who reported that her intoxicated boyfriend was assaulting her inside a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 30. Nathan Alexander Orozco stopped at a gas station off Belt Line Road. When an officer arrived, the woman exited the vehicle. Police reported that the suspect refused commands to show his hands and reached back into the vehicle. An officer opened fire, striking him. A loaded handgun was recovered from the area where he was reaching. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. The Dallas County Officer-Involved Shooting Team is investigating.

Officers found a 35-year-old man cutting himself inside a hotel room. When they made contact, he moved toward officers while holding a sharp object. Police fired and killed him. Three officers, each with two years of service, were placed on administrative duty. During the encounter, Rodriguez confronted his son-in-law, Franklin Portillo, who was outside with his two children. Rodriguez shot Portillo in the head, killing him. The high-speed chase ended violently when the vehicle left the roadway, flipped multiple times, and ejected both Munoz and a juvenile passenger.
