On 11/16/2025 officers with the Spokane Tribal Police attempted to make contact with a man who had active warrants. He fled on foot, jumped into the Spokane River and did not resurface. His body was located days later and he is presumed drowned.

On 11/16/2025, officers attempted to serve a federal arrest warrant in Port Angeles. The individual left the location on foot after officers made contact and police located them on 10th Street. Officers reported attempting de-escalation and using less-than-lethal force. The individual was holding an object that appeared to be a handgun. Officers opened fire and the person was taken to a hospital where they died.

While in the breath-testing room, Fogle allegedly attempted to seize the deputy's firearm, leading to a physical altercation. The deputy stabbed him multiple times. Fogle was pronounced dead at the breath-testing room at 12:39 a.m. Deputy Layton was uninjured and has been placed on critical incident leave, per standard protocol. The Washington State Office of Independent Investigations is leading the investigation, and body-worn and in-car camera footage will be reviewed and released at a later time. Police have not explained how the officer arrived at killing someone with a knife which is not a standard police weapon. The case was ruled a homicide by the coroner but no charges have been filed as of 5/14/2025.

On May 7, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Poulsbo Police and Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies engaged in a confrontation with 41-year-old Justin L. Moegling in the area of Viking Way at Nordic Cove Lane, Poulsbo, Washington. Officers initiated contact after Moegling failed to yield during a traffic stop; the vehicle was followed into unincorporated Kitsap County. Upon stopping the vehicle, Moegling exited holding a knife and refused commands to drop it. Officers attempted de-escalation, including deployment of pepper spray and attempts to disable the vehicle, but ultimately confronted Moegling at close range. Poulsbo Officer Nickolas Brown and Deputy Wyatt Galbreath fired shots, striking Moegling in the head. Medical examiners determined his cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the head, and the death was ruled a homicide. The Office of Independent Investigations (OII) is conducting the use-of-force investigation, and the involved officers have been placed on leave. After public outcry and calls for accountability, law enforcement agencies released bodycam or scene video showing the moment the firearm was discharged. The victim’s family and local community have criticized police actions, citing mental health issues and demanding transparency. Moegling’s father testified that Justin suffered from bipolar disorder and had expressed concerns about his medications.

Police in Moses Lake responded to reports of a kidnapping and robbery. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle near the 1000 block of West Broadway Avenue. The driver did not stop. Police escalated a pursuit. Shortly after, the driver crashed into a utility pole and died. No additional injuries were reported.

On April 15, 2025, Cowlitz County deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver did not stop. Police chased the vehicle until it left the road near Allen Street in Kelso and crashed. Deputies found the driver with a serious head wound and a firearm in the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bret Winn allegedly stole a vehicle in unincorporated Pierce County around 12:25 p.m. on April 5, 2025, then crashed it and under pursuit, carjacked another near South 56th Street and Pacific Avenue. Tacoma police pursued the man into Puyallup, where Puyallup police deployed spike strips on Valley Avenue. He allegedly exited the second vehicle with a knife. Two Puyallup police officers opened fire and killed him.

Deputies from the Stevens County Sheriff's Office attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant on a man at a residence south of Northport. The man exited the home with a weapon. A crisis negotiator responded, but the man fled on foot. Deputies pursued him, fired pepperballs, and continued to issue commands. The man then drew his firearm. Deputies opened fire and killed him. He was transported to a hospital in Colville where he was pronounced dead. The Washington State Patrol is leading the investigation.

Seay inside the secured parking area of the Southwest Precinct, located in the 2300 block of Southwest Webster Street. Seay was armed with a knife and reportedly made suicidal statements. Officers attempted de-escalation tactics, including the use of a less-lethal 40 mm launcher that fires sponge rounds; however, these measures were unsuccessful. Seay continued to advance toward the officers, prompting Officer Kyle Hay, an 11-year veteran of the force, to discharge his firearm, striking Seay. Seay was pronounced dead at the scene. The Seattle Police Department's Force Investigation Team is conducting an investigation into the incident.

On 03/03/2025, a male United States Postal Service (USPS) employee, whose name has not been disclosed, was believed to have fatally shot his coworker, 27-year-old Edward "Eki" Poloka, at the USPS Processing and Distribution Center in Tukwila, Washington. Following the incident, the shooter fled. Later that morning, Seattle Police officers located his vehicle in the 10700 block of 27th Avenue South. On 03/14/2025, off-duty Washington State Patrol Trooper Sarah Clasen, intoxicated with a BAC of 0.17, struck and killed motorcyclist Jhoser Sanchez on State Route 410 near Bonney Lake in Pierce County. Authorities reported her blood alcohol content was more than double the legal limit. The motorcyclist died at the scene. On September 5, 2025, she was criminally charged with vehicular homicide in connection with the fatal crash.

On February 17, 2025, at approximately 10:48 p.m., a Pierce County deputy observed a Tesla traveling eastbound on 128th Street East in Puyallup at speeds exceeding 100 mph. The deputy initiated a pursuit without activating lights and sirens but soon lost sight of the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the deputy discovered the Tesla had veered off the road, crashed through a fence, struck three large trees, and caught fire in the backyard of a residence in the 7000 block of 128th Street East. The deputy attempted to rescue the 45-year-old male driver by breaking the driver's side window but was forced to retreat due to the intensifying flames. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other individuals were injured, and the fire was contained to the vehicle.
