Police attempted to stop a vehicle traveling eastbound on 5th Avenue. The driver refused to stop, and police chased him through multiple streets. The chase ended when police opened fire into the vehicle, striking and killing the male driver. The West Virginia State Police and Cabell County Prosecutor's Office are conducting an independent investigation. The driver's identity has not yet been released.

On 03/06/2025, Charleston Police Department officers were conducting a search for someone involved in a recent shooting and robbery that left a victim in critical condition. During the operation, officers observed Disnime Mitchell, 23, entering the Dollar General Store on West Washington Street. As Mitchell exited the store, members of the SWAT team identified themselves and ordered him to surrender. Mitchell allegedly drew a firearm and pointed it at the officers, prompting a SWAT officer to fire one round, striking Mitchell in the chest. Officers and medics rendered aid at the scene, and Mitchell was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Mitchell was wanted on first-degree robbery charges related to a February 23 incident in which a victim was shot multiple times and robbed.

On 02/13/2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., EMS responded to a breathing complaint involving a 65-year-old woman at a residence on Grapevine Road in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Upon arrival, EMS personnel were confronted by a man with a machete and a rifle. The woman indicated she was not experiencing a medical issue but feared harm from the man, who had threatened to shoot law enforcement upon their arrival. She was transported to Berkeley Medical Center. Berkeley County Sheriff's deputies and West Virginia State Police established a perimeter and, shortly after midnight, encountered the man armed with a rifle. Police stated he raised that weapon "in a threatening manner." Officers opened fire and killed him.

On February 5, 2025, West Virginia State Police responded to a hostage situation in Logan County involving 65-year-old Billy Joe Porter. During the incident, as the hostage attempted to escape, Porter raised his gun at the hostage. In response, troopers opened fire, resulting in Porter's death.

On 11/24/2024, Raleigh County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a mentally disturbed person with a gun on Bolt Road in Bolt, West Virginia. Upon arrival, the deputy encountered an armed individual who immediately fired at him. The deputy shot and killed him. The deputy sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Raleigh County Sheriff's Office and the West Virginia State Police are conducting investigations into the incident.

On November 21, 2024, Robert Bex, a 60-year-old male, barricaded himself inside a camper on Panther Lane and Trace Fork Road in Sandyville, Jackson County, West Virginia. The standoff began after Bex fired shots at his wife. Over the course of a 3-hour standoff, law enforcement attempted to negotiate with him. At approximately 3 hours into the situation, police shot and killed Bex. The incident is currently under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.

A West Virginia state trooper escalated a high-speed chase that ended when a fatal crash occurred during the police pursuit in Summersville, West Virginia, on August 12, 2024. The chase, which began in Raleigh County, ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle after police used spike strips. Two men, R.J. Snodgrass, 42, of Summersville, and Adam Frazier of Pax, were in the car. Snodgrass died at the scene, and Frazier was transported to the hospital, where he later died. The crash remains under investigation by the Summersville Police Department.

Deputies were responding to an unspecified incident and apparently speeding through an intersection with lights and sirens when the police cruiser struck motorist Peter Christensen, killing him, and injuring a passenger. Police never disclosed what the nature of the alleged emergency was that explained why police apparently ran a light.

Police tried to arrest Jason Rose for burglary and domestic violence. He locked himself in his home and police shot tear gas inside. Police also broke a window and put in a drone. Police got into a shootout with him. Rose was shot and killed. He had been a veteran with PTSD. Police were criticized on social media for killing him in his home just before Christmas for warrants.

A suicidal man locked himself into a room with a propane tank and started releasing propane when he felt threatened by approaching police. He was arrested and put in a holding cell at the police station where he used his clothing to hang himself. It does not appear that he received any mental health care during his crisis.

St. Albans PD were called to a domestic disturbance to the 2700 block of Lincoln Avenue 12/13/2023 and found a man walking toward them with a knife. Police shot and killed him. So far, no video or eyewitness statements can be found to compare to the official narrative.

Martinsburg PD said that a male tried to break down a door, fired shots at it and hit a woman with a gun. Police fired shots at him and escalated the situation into a gun fight. The man committed suicide under police duress. Two officers were hit by bullets, one of whom had a leg amputation as a result.

Police began hunting a car in Wayne County, West Virginia and ended in Huntington after an intense high-speed chase by at least 2 police departments together. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed while being chased. A 68-year-old man was driving, and the passengers were identified as a 43-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl. All four were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Officials say the 16-year-old died at the hospital as a result of his injuries. Nazi memorabilia was found in the crashed vehicle. Police explained that this chase was drug-related.

Brady Hanna was driving on Route 41 when hit and killed by a police chase crash caused by a lengthy police pursuit of a stolen Ford F-150. Brady Hanna was a firefighter at the Nettie Fire Department. The police chase continued after his death when the man being hunted stole a police cruiser and desperately tried to escape in it, was chased into Craigsville where he stopped and surrendered to police.

West Virginia troopers were seeking Anthony Meyers for failure to register after release from jail but they also felt he may be linked to some burglaries which remain unproven as he died before an investigation could be launched. Police found him in a location near Union, WV and shot and killed him. The circumstances are not well known. Should more information become available, it will be posted in this space.

A 911 caller had claimed that Henderson was attempting to break into a home on Highland Street.
