On 10/02/2022, Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported home invasion at a residence in Onarga. Deputies identified Jordan R. Johnson of Kankakee as the person who entered the home and assaulted residents. Johnson left the residence and deputies searched the area. As deputies encountered him outside, Johnson shot himself. He later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Aurora PD tried to stop a car they believed may have been involved in a robbery elsewhere but the car drove away. Police escalated a chase that ended several miles away when Abel Yohannes crashed after being attacked by PIT maneuver. According to police, the man got out of the car with a “long gun.” They shot and killed him. The gun he had was a BB gun. Police do not appear to have released any bodycam footage, making verification of the official narrative impossible. Denver DA Beth McCann cleared the shooter officers.

Excelsior Springs PD tried to stop Carl Carrell who had a warrant for a prior assault on a police officer. When police tackled him in the parking lot for arrest, they boxed him in from 2 sides with police vehicles. In response, he allegedly pulled out a gun and fired a shot, injuring one of the officers. Another officer shot and killed him. Carrell had been a Viet Nam veteran, underwater marine welder, had worked on skyscrapers and reconstructed and flipped houses in a number of countries and several continents. He reportedly had a problematic relationship with police authority, reasons for which are not known.

Indianapolis Metro PD chased a vehicle after a hit and run at high speed until it crashed into a bystander vehicle, killing Nyla Sanders in the vehicle.

LAPD claim they called off the chase and turned off their lights and sirens. The crash occurred less than five seconds after the sirens and lights were turned off, as is commonly the case.
Jasmine Mines, an attorney representing the Keyes and Harris families, said the newly released video shows inconsistencies with LAPD’s initial account of events.
“Even though the sirens were off, the officers were clearly still in pursuit. Initially, the LAPD officers stated they retreated and there were 15 seconds from the time they retreated to the time of the collision that ended in fatality. LAPD stated they were not engaged in any chase,” Mines said.
The dashcam video shows the officers chasing the Cadillac through at least four intersections with their lights and sirens on.

Police chased Edwards for undisclosed reasons before he jumped off the bridge. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies had been chasing him on a highway outside Pascagoula but backed off when he reached the city limits. He said Edwards continued to speed through the city until a tire on his vehicle blew out on the bridge whereupon he jumped. He missed the water and landed on the hard ground below and died.

Pennsylvania State Police were responding to a 911 call for an assault. When they arrived,they found Jason Kilduff in his pickup truck, allegedly trying to strike the police with his vehicle. Denver's fugitive found a man wanted in a homicide investigation on a major road. Police escalated a chase and he crashed into another vehicle while making a turn. After reports of two separate carjackings, Chicago PD were then dispatched to a call of multiple people attempting to set a white pickup truck on fire on the 3400 block of South Leavitt. The group then got into a black Honda and fled the area. Chicago PD said they located the black Honda and attempted to traffic-stop it but the vehicle fled and crashed into a Toyota.
The driver of the Toyota, a 55-year-old woman, was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

On 09/28/2022, at approximately 5:54 p.m., a U.S. Border Patrol agent driving an unmarked agency vehicle westbound on U.S. Highway 90 toward the Uvalde Border Patrol Station checkpoint observed a black Toyota Tacoma drive through a ranch fence gate near the eastbound lanes approximately eight miles west of Uvalde. The agent reported seeing the pickup drive recklessly into the median and enter eastbound U.S. 90 toward Uvalde with multiple occupants. The agent radioed the observation and requested that the Uvalde County Sheriff's Office and Uvalde Police Department be contacted to intercept the truck.

The Border Patrol agent turned around and followed the Tacoma eastbound for approximately one mile. When the pickup slowed and moved toward the shoulder, the agent activated the Border Patrol vehicle's emergency lights. Ramos then returned to the eastbound travel lanes and accelerated toward Uvalde at high speed. The agent continued behind the truck while broadcasting its direction and location. The agent eventually radioed that he could no longer maintain visual contact because of the Tacoma's speed.

A Uvalde Police Department officer intercepted the Tacoma and successfully deployed a tire-deflation device. At approximately 5:59 p.m., the first Border Patrol agent radioed that the tire-deflation device had been successfully deployed. A second Border Patrol agent driving a marked patrol vehicle then observed the Tacoma traveling eastbound at high speed and pursued it.

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper traveling westbound on U.S. 90 subsequently saw the Tacoma traveling in the highway median while being pursued by a Border Patrol vehicle with its emergency lights activated. The DPS trooper activated emergency equipment, made a U-turn and joined behind the marked Border Patrol vehicle as the pursuit continued east toward Uvalde.

Approximately one minute later, an agent reported that the truck had been involved in a three-vehicle collision at Main Street and Getty Street in central Uvalde. The Tacoma collided with a semi-tractor-trailer and a Dodge Dakota. Agents requested emergency medical assistance within seconds of discovering the crash.

Anahi Ramos, 17, an Austin resident and Mexican citizen, was driving the Tacoma and was killed in the collision. An unidentified male passenger, also a Mexican citizen, was killed. Eight additional occupants of the Tacoma were injured and transported to hospitals. The drivers of the other two vehicles were also taken to hospitals and were subsequently reported to have non-critical injuries. Contemporary Uvalde police reporting initially described 10 people hospitalized in addition to the two fatalities.

Sacramento PD received a call from Jaime Bautista’s wife who said that he was suicidal. Police arrived and spoke to the wife outside. Aurora PD claim that a man who was shot by them during a chase in suburban Denver on Saturday shot himself in the head at the same time and his death has been ruled a suicide. Anthony Edwards, 31, was driving a stolen car, as he left a store at a gas station. Edward allegedly pointed a gun at police who were chasing him. One officer fired at him but it's not known if Edwards was struck or injured then, police said. He continued running and fired at his own head. He died.

Edinburgh PD were responding to a call about a man doing "donuts" with his vehicle in an open field. There was another report of a man entered a nearby residence who was highly intoxicated. He locked himself in his vehicle. Accounts by police are conflicting with bystanders stating that Lee Roy Villareal feared coming out of the vehicle because of a large number of officers standing around. On 09/27/2022, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force identified a wanted person in Roanoke County vehicle traffic and initiated a traffic stop near Crossbow Court off Route 220. As task force members approached the vehicle, they heard a single gunshot. Task force members found Joshua R. Donahue with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported by EMS to a hospital and later died from his wounds. No law enforcement members discharged their weapons during the encounter.

On 09/26/2022, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to reports that a man fired a gun inside a residence in the 78800 block of West Harland Drive in La Quinta. Deputies and a SWAT team surrounded the home and attempted contact. After several hours, deputies entered the residence and found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Marcus Gillion, 48, was arrested on September 19, 2022, on a misdemeanor assault charge and held at the Anchorage Correctional Complex. After seven days in custody, he was transported to Alaska Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on September 26, 2022. The Alaska Department of Corrections has not publicly disclosed the cause of death. Gillion's death marked the 14th in the state's prison system in 2022.

Lewey Matoomealook, 37, was taken into custody by the Alaska Department of Corrections and had been incarcerated for 13 days when he was transported to Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage on September 22, 2022. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on September 25, 2022. Matoomealook's death marked the 13th in the state's prison system in 2022. Ali Osman was allegedly “throwing rocks” into an intersection and struck police vehicles. Officers shot and killed him when he attempted to throw another rock. The lawyer for the family showed a bag full of these “rocks” that look like average gravel driveway pebbles. Presumably, the heavily armed Phoenix PD feared for their lives when they saw a man throwing pebbles. Osman was unarmed. No officers were ever charged for this homicide.

Harry Simms was being chased by police for unknown reasons until he crashed his car and ran off, falling from the upper level of theconvention center’s outdoor area and then fell to the lower level. No bodycam was provided by police. No eyewitnesses appear to exist. Police did not release the reason why they chased him.
