On February 17, 2021, deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office attempted to arrest 28-year-old James Edward Coe for outstanding warrants. Deputies observed Coe and another individual leaving a residence in Salisbury and getting into a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

The deputies, looking for a reason to stop him, stated that Coe had brake light and tag violations. This explanation was used to escalate a high-speed chase that continued until the I-85 southbound ramp near Julian Road. Coe reportedly exited the vehicle and fired a long gun, striking a police vehicle. Deputies returned fire as Coe fled into a wooded area, allegedly continuing to shoot at pursuing officers.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, Salisbury Police Department, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol, responded and established a perimeter. Coe was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

On 02/15/2021, at approximately 2 p.m., El Monte Police Department officers responded to a robbery report near Garvey Avenue and Durfee Avenue in El Monte, California. Officers observed Francisco Eduardo Flores, 30, who matched the description provided in the report, fleeing onto the eastbound off-ramp of the 10 Freeway at Durfee Avenue.

An officer chased Flores and escalated a physical altercation. A second officer arrived to join the fight. During the physical fight, at least one officer opened fire, killing Flores. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau is investigating the shooting. Investigators have confirmed that Flores was unarmed. On February 14, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., off-duty Corbin Police Department Sgt. Stephen Meadors was contacted at his residence on Dogwood Cove in Corbin, Kentucky, by a neighbor reporting a prowler. Sgt. Meadors went outside and encountered 19-year-old Phillip N. Davenport. An altercation ensued, during which Sgt. Meadors opened fire, killing Davenport. Davenport was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, where he was pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner. The Kentucky State Police investigated the incident. In October 2021, a Whitley County grand jury returned a "no true bill," clearing Sgt. Meadors of any wrongdoing.

On February 11, 2021, police from the Waterville Police Department responded to reports of a man armed with a knife and threatening people at the Best Western Hotel on Main Street in Waterville. The man, identified as Eric J. Porter, a 32-year-old white male, drove away and was later seen by officers on Interstate 95. Police fired pepper balls and a Taser at him. He responded by charging toward Officer Paul Heath. Police alleged he had a knife. Officer Heath opened fire and killed Porter. On February 11, 2021, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a domestic dispute at the Harvest Moon Trailer Park in Woodward Township, where 38-year-old Clifford E. Wilbur Jr. had allegedly assaulted his brother-in-law, Fred Peterson, with a handgun and made threats to kill family members. Wilbur fled the scene before troopers arrived and subsequently committed an armed robbery at a nearby Sheetz convenience store, stealing two 24-ounce cans of beer. Troopers located Wilbur's vehicle and initiated a pursuit toward Williamsport on Route 220. Despite the deployment of spike strips that flattened his tires, Wilbur continued to evade police, eventually crashing his car into a utility pole in the 3500 block of West 4th Street. After the crash, Wilbur brandished a handgun and ignored multiple commands to surrender. Officers attempted non-lethal measures, including firing pepper balls into the vehicle, but Wilbur continued to wave his firearm. In response to the imminent threat, troopers and officers discharged their weapons, fatally striking Wilbur. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lycoming County Coroner. On February 11, 2021, Alexis Leigh Davis-Gooden, 35, was initially stopped by a Menands Police Department officer on Broadway in Menands, New York. After providing her information, the officer returned to his patrol car to run checks through state and federal systems. Before the officer could complete the stop, Davis-Gooden fled the scene in her vehicle, heading toward Watervliet. Shortly thereafter, she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the front gate of the Watervliet Arsenal. Davis-Gooden was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 10, 2021, at approximately 4 p.m., Spartanburg County deputies initiated a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop. Police escalated a pursuit that was described as reckless with excessive speed through heavy traffic and proximity to a school zone. The deputy finally called off the chase near Paradise Lane moments before a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper spotted the vehicle near East Blackstock Road and Hidden Hill Road and took over the chase. The trooper allegedly also called off the chase again as the vehicle collided with a 2015 Honda Accord driven by 36-year-old bystander Jessica Ruth Munyon near the intersection of East Blackstock Road and Bradford Drive.

On February 10, 2021, shortly after 10:00 a.m., East Cleveland police responded to a domestic incident near Hayden Avenue and Bryn Mawr Road. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, Cortez Lee Bogan, 27, was causing a disturbance and possibly armed. Upon arrival, officers found Bogan attempting to enter the woman's vehicle. The woman alerted officers that Bogan had a gun. An officer observed the butt of a firearm protruding from Bogan's security vest and attempted to seize it. On February 9, 2021, around 7 p.m., the Upper Perkiomen Police Department responded to a 911 call from a family member reporting that Trey Bartholomew was in a state of agitation and had left the home carrying a sword. On 02/08/2021, at approximately 1 a.m., officers from the Detroit Police Department were responding to a request for backup with their lights and sirens activated in a marked Ford Explorer traveling east on Jeffries Service Drive. The police vehicle collided with a Lexus IS 250 driven by Clifford Woodards II at the intersection of Jeffries Service Drive and W. Chicago in Detroit, killing bystander Woordards. The officer driving, TeairaFunderburg, was later charged with involuntary manslaughter and willful neglect of duty following the investigation, which revealed she was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a red light. Woodards, a prominent defense attorney and civil rights activist, was known for his sharp wit and community involvement. His daughter, Melissa Connelly, filed a $50 million lawsuit against the city of Detroit, alleging negligence and seeking justice for her father's death. The lawsuit highlighted that Funderburg had a history of speeding and traffic violations. Woodards was driving lawfully at the time of the crash, within the speed limit and with the right of way. The impact caused Woodards' vehicle to flip over and crash into a light pole. Officer Funderburgwas suspended without pay.In August 2022, Funderburg pleaded no contest to willful neglect of duty as part of a plea agreement, leading to the dismissal of the involuntary manslaughter charge. As a condition of the plea, she agreed to resign her Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification, effectively ending her career as a police officer. She was sentenced to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service.

On February 8, 2021, at approximately 12:12 a.m., officers from the Gastonia Police Department responded to a report of a suspected overdose at 1215 Mountain Avenue in Gastonia, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers encountered 33-year-old Shae Estelle Jones inside the residence, reportedly with a firearm.

Officer K. Solano-Garitaopened fire, striking Jones. She was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Jones died from her injuries the following day, February 9, 2021.

At approximately 11:29 p.m. on February 8, 2021, an officer from the Oxford Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Clay Tatum. Tatum did not comply with the stop and fled, leading to a chase that extended beyond Oxford into Lafayette County. After calling for backup, Tatum pulled over but then ran into a nearby residence. On February 6, 2021, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Long Beach Police Department officers responded to reports of a man, later identified as 26-year-old Anthony Steven Loia, walking near Magnolia Avenue and 14th Street, pointing a handgun at people and passing vehicles. On 02/06/2021, around 8 a.m., Montgomery County police received multiple 911 calls reporting a man driving erratically in a Volkswagen sedan on Olney Laytonsville Road and Fieldcrest Road in Gaithersburg. Before Deputy Frank Pruitt arrived, the driver had already struck two vehicles. Upon arrival, Pruitt observed Kevin Costlow approaching two individuals with a large stick. A confrontation ensued where Costlow struck Pruitt with the stick. Pruitt attempted to use his Taser on Costlow, but it was ineffective. Subsequently, Deputy Pruitt shot and killed Costlow.

On February 6, 2021, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Camden County Police Officer Edward Melton and Officer Trainee Danielle Sigwart observed a Dodge Charger driven by Rashad M. Muse speeding on Morton Street. When Officer Melton attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Muse fled the scene, leading to a brief pursuit. The officers located the vehicle after it crashed into a support in the underpass at I-676. On February 5, 2021, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers from the High Point Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at a residence located at 2900 block West English Road. Upon arrival, officers encountered 34-year-old Josue Drumond-Cruz, who was allegedly uncooperative and retreated into the house.

Drumond-Cruz exited the house with an AR-15-style rifle and pointed it at officers before re-entering the home. Officers were aware that Blanca E. Cadavid, 35, and two children, ages 12 and 14, were inside the residence during this time. A search warrant and arrest warrants were obtained for Drumond-Cruz.

On February 5, 2021, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Trotwood Police officers responded to a theft report at the Speedway convenience store located at 5000 Olive Road where Andrew Hogan, 25, had allegedly stolen a 2-liter non-alcoholic beverage and was observed walking towards a nearby apartment complex.

Officers located Hogan near the Kensington apartment complex, where he reportedly refused commands. Police engaged him in an altercation, deployed a Taser, pepper spray, and a baton, but Hogan ran into an apartment in the 700 block of Kelford Place.

On February 4, 2021, Omar Felix Cueva, 39, was stopped by New Mexico State Police Officer Darian Jarrott on Interstate 10 near Avenida de Mesilla in Las Cruces, New Mexico, as part of an investigation with Homeland Security Investigations. Gray was allegedly restraining his mother on a couch, causing her breathing difficulties. When deputies arrived at the residence in the 1700 block of Lavender Road in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, they encountered Gray outside the home and attempted to arrest him. During the altercation, Gray reportedly tried to take a deputy's firearm, resulting in the weapon discharging. Deputies deployed a taser in an effort to subdue Gray but were unsuccessful. The confrontation escalated, and at least one deputy opened fire, fatally shooting Gray.
