On 12/15/2025 officers in Bryant responded to a call reporting gunfire inside a home on the 1100 block of SW 4th Street. Negotiators attempted to make contact and a SWAT team was deployed. Under unclear circumstances the situation escalated and officers opened fire and killed the woman.

On 12/14/2025, West Memphis Police Department officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit overnight. During the chase, a fleeing vehicle struck a female pedestrian. She was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police later located the driver involved in the pursuit. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the chase and the fatal crash.

On 12/01/2025, law enforcement officers from multiple agencies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Robert Foster, who was wanted on warrants. Foster fled and led police into Nevada County. His vehicle became disabled on a logging road. Officers held him in a standoff for hours. At the end of the standoff Foster exited the vehicle and fired at SWAT officers. Officers returned fire and shot Foster. Multiple firearms were recovered from his vehicle.

On 11/21/2025 at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers in Pine Bluff attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on West 27th Street. The vehicle stopped at the intersection of 27th and Maple where three occupants exited. Jeremy Lawrence Jr fled on foot with a firearm. Officers engaged and fired at Lawrence Jr hitting him in a yard on 28th Avenue. He was transported to the hospital where he died. Two other males from the vehicle were detained. The incident is under investigation by the Arkansas State Police.

On 11/19/2025, a Magnolia police officer encountered Michael Andre Greene on South Frederick Road during a patrol call. During the encounter, Greene was reported to have been holding a firearm. The situation escalated and the officer opened fire. Greene was critically injured and transported to a Little Rock hospital, where he died. State investigators are reviewing the shooting.

The driver refused to stop and accelerated to speeds over 130 miles per hour, weaving through traffic and exiting onto a service road off McDaniel Drive. The vehicle struck another car, crashed into heavy equipment, and burst into flames. Two people inside were killed at the scene. The driver was ejected, hospitalized, and later arrested. The other motorist was not injured.

On 10/22/2025, Arkansas State Police pursued a blue Nissan Versa on Interstate 40 near Atkins. Police executed a PIT maneuver, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. On 10/07/2025, deputies from the Garland County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a disorderly person on the 100 block of Ebony Way in Hot Springs. Upon arrival, they encountered 34-year-old Anthony Michael Dean, who was shirtless and carrying a shovel. Deputies said Dean approached them aggressively while holding the shovel. On 09/07/2025, Fayetteville police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex on the 300 block of North Garnet Court. Officers attempted to make contact with the occupants when Brandon Poulter, 42, opened fire, striking an armored police vehicle. Officers returned fire, fatally shooting him. Poulter was found dead inside the apartment. No officers were injured. The Arkansas State Police are conducting an investigation, and findings will be forwarded to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

On September 3, 2025, Fort Smith police responded to a church disturbance near 1900 N 62nd Street. Officers reported that Christopher Cody Burns, 41, had crashed a stolen car nearby. Burns was taken into custody and placed in a patrol vehicle for transport to the detention center. Upon arrival, officers discovered him unresponsive in the back seat. On 08/17/2025, deputies from the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call in the 100 block of Bogle Road, Helena-West Helena. The man, identified as 40-year-old Brandon Billingsly, barricaded himself inside the home after the victim, a domestic violence victim, was seriously injured and transported to a Memphis hospital. Law enforcement, including ASP’s Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT, attempted negotiations for approximately two and a half hours, then deployed chemical agents. Around 3 a.m., a single gunshot was heard. A camera-equipped robot entered the premises and discovered that Billingsly had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Around 10:30 p.m., a Grannis police officer responded to assist with an eviction on County Road 14. As the officer arrived, Darrin Laudermilk, 65, came out onto the driveway with a pistol and began shooting. The officer returned fire and struck Laudermilk. He died at the scene. On June 23, 2025, at approximately 5:14 p.m., Little Rock Police Department officers responded to the 600 block of Timber Hill Drive regarding a person observed holding a weapon on a porch. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male subject identified as 44-year-old Andrew Osborne. Officers attempted verbal engagement, issuing commands to drop the weapon. Officers opened fire, striking Osbourne. He was transported by MEMS to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

On 06/11/2025 in the morning, Arkansas State Police and Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies pursued 23-year-old Joey Vincent Simmons II, who was wanted in connection with armed robberies at convenience stores in Conway and Damascus. During the pursuit on U.S. Highway 65, Simmons allegedly fired at a pursuing trooper. The chase reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. Near Bee Branch, Simmons lost control of his vehicle, which veered off the roadway and crashed into a wooded area. He was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

On 06/11/2025, Felipe Millan-Gomez, 32, was wanted in connection with an armed carjacking in Onekama, Michigan, during which he reportedly forced a female victim to drive before she escaped. The stolen vehicle was later recovered. U.S. Marshals and Arkansas State Police located Millan-Gomez traveling on Interstate 40 East near Carlisle, Arkansas. During a traffic stop near mile marker 180, Millan-Gomez allegedly exited his vehicle with a weapon. Troopers then opened fire, striking and killing him on the road.

On May 23, 2025, Rockport Police attempted to arrest 43-year-old Christopher Buckley during a traffic stop after discovering active warrants. Buckley refused to comply and drove away, prompting a pursuit involving Rockport Police, Malvern Police, and Hot Spring County deputies. After crashing near Watts and McAlister streets, Buckley fled on foot. He was later confronted by police near Sand Road and Mt. Willow Road, where he pulled out a pistol and shot himself. On May 16, 2025, Arkansas State Police troopers fatally shot a man following an altercation inside a store in Alma, Arkansas. He was reportedly involved in a domestic violence incident and an armed robbery at a travel center. On 05/03/2025 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Pine Bluff Police responded to a domestic violence call at the Park View Apartments at 300 W. 13th Street. A man had barricaded himself inside an apartment, and a standoff ensued. After hours of attempted negotiation, 54-year-old Melvin Sanders surrendered and was taken into custody with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand while 43-year-old Yashika Morris was killed during the standoff. Sanders was charged with capital murder.

On May 1, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the Tri-City SWAT team, comprising officers from the Berryville, Eureka Springs, and Green Forest Police Departments, attempted to serve a search and arrest warrant for 44-year-old Jeremy Coyle at his residence in the 13000 block of Highway 187 in Eureka Springs for sexual assault charges. Officers made forcible entry and Coyle allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers. An officer shot and killed him in his home. Coyle was pronounced dead in his home. Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident, and the case file will be submitted to the Carroll County Prosecutor for review.

John Bruce Martinez, 19, was driving over 120 mph when North Little Rock Police and Arkansas State Police initiated a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 40. Around the 145-mile marker, Martinez reached speeds of 130 mph before losing control near the Morgan/Maumelle Exit. His vehicle ran off the road and crashed into several trees. He was killed on impact. Three 17-year-old passengers from Mabelvale were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

On March 28, 2025, Arkansas State Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a Memphis man for a traffic violation on Interstate 40 near mile marker 270, close to Palestine, Arkansas. The driver failed to comply and led troopers on a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned, resulting in fatal injuries. The identity of the driver has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Arkansas State Police chased a white Dodge Ram after the driver, Torkilo Hambrick, failed to stop for a traffic violation near mile marker 173. Near mile marker 191, an Arkansas State Police trooper conducted a PIT maneuver—a tactic known to be potentially lethal at speeds above 35 mph—causing the truck to overturn and crash. Laterrika Woods, the 29-year-old sister of Memphis rapper Big Boogie, was a passenger in the vehicle. She was ejected during the crash and died at the scene. Two other passengers were seriously injured. Experts have long warned that PIT maneuvers at speeds above 35 mph carry an extreme risk of fatality, and at 100+ mph, the probability of a deadly outcome is considered astronomically high.

The truck fled at a high speed (reported over 120 mph and driving on the shoulder) and was pursued by the trooper for approximately 18 miles. The chase ended when the trooper executed a PIT maneuver near Hazen; the truck flipped into a ditch and ejected several passengers. Laterrika Woods, age 29 of Memphis, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger was critically injured and transported to the hospital. Upon locating him in a vehicle near the 7900 block of Baseline Road in Little Rock, Larry-Purdiman exited the vehicle and fled on foot toward a nearby gas station. During the pursuit, he fired multiple shots at officers. Officers returned fire, striking Larry-Purdiman. He was pronounced dead. One officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from the hospital. No civilians were injured. The Arkansas State Police is investigating.

On 03/06/2025, Joseph Blair, 41, was the subject of a "Be On the Lookout" (BOLO) alert issued by the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office. The Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 team assisted in the search for Blair near Twin Groves, Arkansas. During the apprehension attempt, Blair was fatally shot by DOC officers. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Faulkner County Coroner at 8:30 p.m. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.

On 02/25/2025, at approximately 5 p.m., officers from the Leachville Police Department and the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunshots inside a residence in the 800 block of Elm Street, Leachville, Arkansas. Upon arrival, a family member reported hearing shots from a bedroom. As deputies approached, 55-year-old Jonathan Mark Robins fired at them from a bedroom window, prompting a retreat and request for additional support. The Arkansas State Police SWAT, Bomb Squad, and negotiators were deployed. After a nine-hour standoff, at around 2:20 a.m., Robins exited the residence armed with a knife and handgun, moved to a neighboring carport, and fired his weapon. ASP SWAT members returned fire, striking Robins. He received immediate medical attention but was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mississippi County Coroner at approximately 5 a.m. No law enforcement personnel were injured.

On October 11, 2024, at approximately 9:41 a.m., Arkansas State Police (ASP) troopers observed a vehicle driven by Isaiah Cross, a 50-year-old male from Blossom, Texas, traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 67 between Newport and Bradford in Jackson County. The vehicle was reportedly moving at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour.

Troopers initiated a pursuit and successfully stopped Cross near the 80-mile marker on U.S. 67 South, leading to a standoff. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office closed a portion of the highway while ASP police negotiators ordered him to exit the vehicle.

Approximately 30 minutes later, Cross drove away, driving south in the northbound lanes at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour for about 10 miles with troopers in high-speed pursuit.During the pursuit, troopers fired at Cross when there was a gap in traffic. The vehicle subsequently ran off the roadway into a ditch and caught fire. Cross was pronounced dead at the crash site. An investigation by the ASP Criminal Investigation Division was conducted, and Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Devon Holder determined that the use of deadly force by the troopers was justified.
