On 08/11/2022, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a residence in Victorville where Byron Hayes was barricaded and reportedly armed. Hayes was wanted for murder and threatened to shoot at officers or himself. After a prolonged standoff and failed negotiations, deputies engaged Hayes and opened fire, striking him.
