On March 16, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Hawaii Police Department officers responded to a reported home invasion in the 18-1300 block of Ihope Road in Mountain View. Christopher Lucrisia had allegedly entered the residence, threatened the occupants, and stolen keys to a vehicle parked outside.Lucrisia, who was armed with a rifle and a pistol, hid in the stolen vehicle on the property. As detectives and members of the Specialized Response Team (SRT) arrived, Lucrisia began firing at them. One officer returned fire. After a period of attempted negotiations and no response from Lucrisia, officers deployed a drone and observed him unresponsive in the vehicle's rear seat. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. This incident concluded a nearly three-day manhunt that began after Lucrisia allegedly shot and injured a police officer on March 14, 2025.

On 03/04/2025, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Hawaii Island police responded to a residence on Hibiscus Street in Mountain View after a woman reported that her daughter's ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Isaiah Kaleo JiaanFourshey, had arrived looking for her daughter. After being informed that his ex-girlfriend was not present, Fourshey allegedly fired multiple shots at the woman's husband, missing him, before fleeing the scene. Shortly thereafter, police received reports of a shooting at a nearby residence on Plumeria Street, where they found 25-year-old Latisha Soares, identified as Fourshey's ex-girlfriend, with multiple gunshot wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene. A manhunt ensued, and at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers located Fourshey near the Namakanipaio Campground off Highway 11 in Volcano.During the attempted apprehension, Fourshey was shot by police. He was transported to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:00 p.m.

Plainclothes officers jumped 77-year-old Thomas Matias when he got on a moped at the Ala Moana Center and violently arrested him. Police allege that the moped was stolen. Matias was injured in the arrest and taken to an ER. He told his daughter that police had instructed him to say no if asked whether he wanted to be admitted for his injuries and he had complied and signed out against medical advice. His pain and his sister found him in his apartment with extreme head and rib and chest pain. He was found to have broken ribs and other substantial injuries from the attack. He died from these injuries on January 10, 2024. After seeing the coroner’s report of injuries, the investigation was changed to manslaughter against the officers.
His daughter stated that the moped he was attacked for was purchased by him and to the family’s knowledge not stolen. There is no BWC footage as the officers were plainclothes. Surveillance footage was confirmed to exist but has not been released by police.
