Manchester Police saw Jake Chiardonna in a stolen vehicle and sent a K9 to attack him. He defended himself with a screwdriver, injuring the animal. Police shot and killed him.

A 911 caller in Franklin told police she was unharmed but her neighbor was making noise and may be trying to smash through her door. Police arrived and allege that the man had tried to shoot at the door and they called SWAT. A shelter-in-place order was called. Thick black smoke emanated from the apartment. It is not known whether the man or possible SWAT munitions caused the smoke. Police fired shots and the man fired back. When the smoke cleared, he was found shot to death. Bradley Haas, 63, the former police chief of Franklin, NH, a police officer for 28 years, was working after retirement as a security guard in the lobby of a New Hampshire state psychiatric facility when an armed man entered and shot and killed him. Rockingham County deputies saw a vehicle with front end damage that was also missing an inspection sticker and they escalated a chase. The driver fled and deputies chased the vehicle into Hampton where the Greenland PD joined the hunt. Police chased the vehicle until it lost control and crashed in the woods near 424 Ocean Road, killing John Toussaint. On 09/10/2021, Officer Thomas Ouellette, 44, of the Bow Police Department, was driving his personal Ford Expedition southbound on I-89 when his vehicle drifted from the right-hand travel lane into the breakdown lane. The vehicle struck the rear of a parked, disabled tractor-trailer truck. Two of Officer Ouellette’s children, Nicholas Ouellette, 16, and Gavin Ouellette, 6, were killed in the collision. While the media did not confirm his on-duty status, it is assumed he was off-duty as he was driving his personal vehicle.

Upon arrival, they encountered Anthony Hannon, an armed man who refused to leave the residence or submit to arrest. A standoff ensued, lasting for approximately 10 hours. On 05/02/2021, David Earle Hartenstein, 39, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, was traveling northbound in the southbound travel lanes on NH-101. Police attempts to stop the wrong-way vehicle, including the use of tire deflation devices, were unsuccessful. Officers from multiple agencies set up rolling roadblocks to prevent other drivers from encountering the vehicle. Near the Route 101 split in Manchester, Hartenstein veered off the roadway and into the woods. The crash resulted in his death.

On 03/31/2021, police responded to a home at 247 Sullivan Street in Claremont, New Hampshire, following reports of gunshots being fired. Jeffrey Ely had barricaded himself inside the residence. After an extended standoff, gunfire was exchanged between Ely and New Hampshire State Police. Troopers Nicholas Cyr, Stefan Czyzowski, Gary Ingham, Shane Larkin, William Neilsen, and Noah Sanctuary fired at Ely, who was subsequently killed. Officer Noah Sanctuary had been involved in a previous shooting incident in February of 2022. Sergeant Stefan Czyzowski and again Sergeant Noah Sanctuary were among six troopers who fired their weapons during a standoff in Plymouth, where Kevin Steinfeldt, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound under police duress.

On 03/12/2021, police from multiple agencies responded to a report of a man and woman in a home on Gertrude Avenue in Raymond, New Hampshire, with concerns that the woman might be injured. Upon arrival, officers determined that two individuals were inside the residence and believed the woman to be in danger. After lengthy negotiations, the woman exited the home without serious injuries. The man initially came out of the residence but returned inside. Shortly thereafter, two gunshots were heard. Police entered the home and found the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
