On May 6, 2025, at approximately 5:57 a.m., Dane County Jail staff found 49-year-old Jeffrey Endres unresponsive in his cell. Endres was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been charged the previous day with multiple felonies, including first-degree intentional homicide, two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and mistreatment of animals causing death. These charges stemmed from an incident on April 28, 2025, in Cottage Grove, where Endres allegedly drove his vehicle into a family walking their dog, resulting in the deaths of 41-year-old Dr. Kami Hansen and the family dog, and injuries to Hansen's husband and 13-year-old son. The motive, according to prosecutors, was retaliation for a "sensitive crime" allegedly committed by a Hansen family member against a child in Endres' family. OOn the evening of February 24, 2025, Fond du Lac County Sheriff's deputies contacted 26-year-old Jesús Armando Méndez Berry, who had an outstanding felony warrant. A citizen had reported seeing a handgun in Méndez Berry's waistband. Deputies located him in the 6300 block of Cherrywood Drive in the Town of Fond du Lac. After Méndez Berry allegedly refused to follow repeated commands, a deputy discharged a non-lethal weapon. Méndez Berry then produced what deputies believed to be a firearm, prompting another deputy to discharge their firearm at 6:22 p.m., striking him. Life-saving measures were attempted, and Méndez Berry was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. ​Upon further investigation, it has been confirmed that Jesús Armando Méndez Berry was holding a black Gamo 430 CO2 Pellet/BB Handgun at the time of the incident. Deputies initially believed it to be a firearm, leading to the shooting.

On February 12, 2025, just before noon, Milwaukee Police Department officers responded to reports of a man firing a rifle into the air near 27th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, west of Marquette University. Upon arrival, officers encountered 24-year-old Isaiah W. Stott and ordered him to drop the weapon. Stott instead fired at the officers, injuring a 34-year-old male officer. A 37-year-old male officer, also with eight years of service, discharged his firearm, striking Stott. Stott was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. On January 31, 2025, 62-year-old Donald Maier died in solitary confinement at Waupun Correctional Institution after prison staff shut off water to his cell for nine days, allegedly to curb disruptive behavior. A federal lawsuit filed by Maier’s mother, Jeanette Maier, claims staff ignored his deteriorating physical and mental health, failing to document water shut-offs or provide water, constituting cruel and unusual punishment. He had been assaulted with a taser and was found naked and dead in solitary confinement. he had been gasping for water but water had been shut off as punishment by the jail. He died of dehydration due to the abuse. Former Warden Randall Hepp and nine staff members were charged in June 2024; Hepp pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor on April 28, 2025, paying a $500 fine. On January 18, 2025, officers from the Wausau Police Department and deputies from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office escalated a chase against a vehicle for undisclosed reasons. On January 9, 2025, a male inmate at Racine County Jail died after being attacked by another inmate. The attack, which lasted approximately 47 seconds, was captured on surveillance footage. It shows Carraway punching Lee multiple times, causing his head to strike a cell door and the concrete floor. Carraway then placed Lee headfirst into a 55-gallon garbage can. Despite other inmates' attempts to intervene, no one alerted corrections officers immediately. Joseph Lee had been arrested for allegedly manufacturing and delivering cocaine.

Lee was discovered by jail staff about 22 minutes after the assault and was transported to a hospital. He was pronounced dead on January 1, 2025. An autopsy revealed that Lee died from blunt-force injuries to his head and spine.

On 12/08/2024, at approximately 11:40 p.m., officers from the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to a welfare check at a residence on Kellner Road in the Town of Grand Rapids, Wisconsin. Upon arrival, they encountered an uncooperative woman and requested additional assistance from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department and the Wood County Sheriff's Office.
During the arrest, the woman reportedly resisted, leading to a physical altercation with the officers as they attempted to take her into custody. Shortly after being restrained, the woman became unresponsive. Emergency medical services were called, and she was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Racine PD saw a vehicle they felt was involved in earlier incident and escalated a chase at high speed that continued until the vehicle crashed into a tree and the driver died.

A male inmate at Rock County Jail in Janesville, Wisconsin, was found unresponsive in his cell on 09/17/2024. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead. The Rock County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, and the inmate's identity has not been released. The cause of death is under investigation.

A 30 year old man who was in a jail cell in custody of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office was found hanging in his cell, allegedly from suicide. Incarceration list deaths in police encounters, as well as deaths considered “in custody” which includes jail. The database does not keep records of state and federal prisoners, once sentenced.

An inmate at Dane County Jail in Madison, Wisconsin, was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the individual or the cause of death. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Washington County deputies chased several teenagers in a vehicle due to a traffic violation until the teens crashed on a gravel road with the vehicle bursting into flames. One girl died at the scene and two other teens were in critical condition.

Numerous law enforcement vehicles created a large police presence on the road, hunting a vehicle that was allegedly stolen, driven by a teenage girl. The vehicle finally crashed. The driver and a second female passenger were killed. They were 17, 17 and 18 years old. The reason given by police for the chase was “marijuana smell and suspicious behavior,” no other explanation added.
