On August 6, 2025, deputies from the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office attempted a welfare check on a person reported to be suicidal in Wautoma. Deputies quickly located the subject’s vehicle traveling on County Road H near Wild Rose. When they attempted a traffic stop on State Highway 22, the driver refused to stop, forcing deputies to escalate the encounter into a vehicle pursuit.
Deputies maintained close pursuit as the vehicle continued toward County Road A. Additional units maneuvered into intercept positions, prepared to block escape routes and bring the vehicle to a halt.
