On 03/11/2022, Charles County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 50-year-old Darell Byrd after a hit-and-run call near Pine Cone Circle in Waldorf. Officer Shayne Cannon initiated the stop around 4:47 a.m. Byrd briefly complied, then drove away. Officers Kenneth Barry and Shawn Griffith escalated a pursuit, which lasted under one minute.
