Three 17-year-old boys walked into a Big 5 sporting goods store with an airsoft gun they needed to return for a refund because it was defective. They were approached by a 51-year-old man who had profiled them and believed they had the Airsoft gun to rob the sporting goods store with and fired a shot at the boys, killing one of them. The boys had been unarmed and made no attempt to rob anyone. The surviving teens stated that they had told him multiple times that the Airsoft was not real and the man fired on them anyway. The man who shot them is allegedly a security guard who was off duty but took it upon himself to police the store’s parking lot when he arrived to pick up a family member. He is being held on $2 million for second degree murder.

On 06/05/2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office deputies, in coordination with the Baton Rouge Police Department and the DEA, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 5600 block of Robertson Avenue, Baton Rouge. Deputies instructed all occupants to exit the house. Two individuals complied, but Tyquarius Armstrong, 21, remained inside.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., deputies entered the residence and encountered Armstrong in a bedroom. Armstrong fired multiple shots, striking one deputy in the lower abdomen and another in their bulletproof vest. Deputies opened fire, fatally striking Armstrong, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the deputies involved have not been disclosed. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal investigation.

On June 5, 2024, at approximately 3:37 a.m., a female resident in the 200 block of Pearl Street, Coloma, Michigan, called 911, reporting that individuals intended to set her house on fire. Upon arrival, a Coloma Township police officer observed the woman pointing a long gun at him and his vehicle. The woman made multiple 911 calls expressing her intent to shoot police officers. Over a 90-minute period, officers issued commands for her to drop the weapon and exit the house with her hands up, which she refused. As officers attempted to enter the residence, a Berrien County deputy fired a "less lethal" round, which struck the woman in the upper chest. She received immediate medical attention at the scene and was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

On June 4, 2024, Arnold Azamar, 51, visited a female relative at the Kent Assisted Living Facility. He was asked to leave by staff, and as he was escorted out, he shot and killed staff member William Whitehead. Azamar then fled the scene, and Delaware State Police, assisted by officers from multiple departments, located him near the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.

On June 4, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Flowood Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious individual attempting to break into apartments near Park Circle Drive in Flowood, Mississippi. Upon arrival, officers encountered 27-year-old Preston Johannsen Banks IV. Banks fled on foot, and officers pursued him. During the pursuit, Banks allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers. Police opened fire, fatally striking Banks. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an inquiry into the incident, with findings to be shared with the Attorney General’s Office for review.
