On 05/24/2021, Marcelo Pelaez was crossing Woodhaven Boulevard at Rockaway Boulevard in a marked crosswalk in Queens when he was struck by a vehicle driven by an off-duty New York City police officer. Johnny Owen King, aged 63, had been residing on the property with his uncle and his uncle's ex-wife. The reported assault was between King and his uncle's ex-wife. Upon arrival, the troopers entered a travel trailer on the property and requested King to come outside for a conversation. King refused to comply, and according to reports, he armed himself with a .177 caliber pneumatic gun, commonly referred to as a BB gun. The troopers then shot and killed King. Officers responded to a burglary call at a car dealership around 4 a.m. They saw a driver in a blue Dodge Challenger leaving the dealership, which was later found abandoned with the engine still running. On May 20, 2021, James "Ray" Jarreau, a 57-year-old White male, was fatally shot by officers from the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police during an arrest attempt at 4243 Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Jarreau was believed to have been involved in the murder of his ex-girlfriend and the injury of another man in Pointe Coupee Parish. Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest.

On May 20, 2021, Washington County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Economy Inn on Lee Highway in response to a suspected violation of a protective order. Upon arriving at the motel room of Brandon Scott Odell, deputies obtained consent to search both the room and the vehicle. As deputies attempted to take Odell into custody, he allegedly reached under a mattress and retrieved a handgun. One of the deputies shot and killed him during the confrontation.

The victims, 27-year-old Megan Wisniewski and 63-year-old Margie Ramos, were killed in the shooting. On May 19, 2021, at approximately 11:53 p.m., a Virginia State Police trooper conducting stationary radar on eastbound Interstate 64 noticed a motorcycle and a Hyundai Genesis speeding at 102 mph in a 65 mph zone. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicles, but both drivers fled the scene. A second trooper joined the pursuit, with speeds exceeding 125 mph. The driver of the Genesis lost control of the vehicle as he approached the Bowers Hill Interchange, ran off the road, and crashed into a tree line. The motorcycle continued and was lost by the troopers. The driver of the Genesis, Javaud Aubrey Ahangari, was killed in the crash.

Brendan Charlet, 19, was reportedly acting erratically at the Ash Flat Livestock Auction. A Highland officer later attempted a traffic stop, but Charlet did not stop. Officers from multiple agencies escalated a pursuit into Hardy. At the intersection of Highways 62 and 63, Charlet crashed into a Hardy police vehicle, sending both into a ditch. As officers approached, they heard a gunshot and found Charlet with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead shortly after. Charlet reportedly had outstanding charges in Louisiana and Alabama.

They discovered 22-year-old Arik Reed suffering from a gunshot wound after attempting to prevent the kidnapping of 17-year-old Oliver "Ollie" Taylor. Kenneth William Peden III fled the scene with Taylor in a white Ford F-150 truck.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the Silverton Police Department, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, escalated a chase during which police engaged in a shootout. Taylor was found with a gunshot wound and transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries on May 19, 2021. Police have not disclosed who shot and killed Taylor during the shootout. On 05/18/2021, a vehicle pursuit involving the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Adamsville Police Department, and Hayden Police Department ended at Exit 284 off Interstate 65 in Blount County, Alabama. The man, identified as 32-year-old Timothy James Hogland of Adamsville, exited his vehicle and attempted to carjack a motorist at gunpoint. He then fired at law enforcement officers, who returned fire and fatally wounded him at the scene. According to officials, he was also wanted for a homicide from May 13, 2021.
