Bowie was identified as the driver of a 2008 Infinity Sedan spotted at the Fleet Truck Repair on Charleston Highway in Cayce after stealing items from multiple vehicles at the businesses. He refused to pull over for officers who escalated a chase.
Bowie got off I-26 West onto I-77 North before taking exit 5 (Bluff Road) on I-77 before turning left onto Pineview Rd. He was killed on impact when he ran a red light at the intersection of Pineview and Shop Rd and hit another car.

Salem PD believed 16-year-old Robert Fletemier-Brown was responsible for a prior incident and arrived to arrest him. Police claim he started shooting at them. “The flash bangs, the big booms, I thought it was the M-80s going off, fireworks and stuff like that, because right after that you hear the ‘pop, pop, pop,’ and I thought they were firecrackers but then when you’re looking outside you saw the SWAT team and police and everything surrounding the car,” a neighbor recalled. Meridian PD attempted a traffic stop on 34-year-old Ruben Garcia who was seen driving erratically and without headlights near the corner of Meridian Road and East Central Drive. Police allege that Garcia took off and they began chasing Garcia, also engaging Kuna PD who joined the chase. A Kuna officer put down spike strips and Garcia drove around them, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup truck. Garcia died. The 28-year-old pickup truck driver, Jonathan Calderon, of Boise, who was taken to a local hospital before being pronounced dead.

Lorain PD were allegedly serving a warrant to arrest Charles White. Police claim that he had a knife and had attacked a police dog and attacked police. Police shot and killed him.

The bodycam video shows a very different scenario. Police had entered his home and chased him into the basement. White ran and was torn to the ground by an aggressive attacking police K9 dog. Police allege that he lacerated the dog with a knife but an attack on the dog or police is not seen on the video. Instead, White is pulled down and continually bitten by an excited barking Belgian Malinois dog while its handler opens fire on White on the ground, shooting and killing him. Police saw Daniel Bruce walking along the highway and stopped him as they wanted to discuss a previous incident with him. Rochester PD looking for someone in connection to a robbery traffic-stopped the vehicle of Joshua Clayton Hippler. Police allege that he got out of the vehicle with an ax and “charged at” police. They shot and killed him.

Bodycam is enclosed below. In it, Hippler shouts in an exasperated voice “I didn’t do nothing!” and continues walking toward police. An ax cannot be visualized before the killing as he is walking at night and it is not clear how the officer saw an ax from a distance in the darkness when Hippler walked toward him. The officer fired 6 shots into Hippler, killing him.

Pasco County deputies received a call about a suspicious vehicle and tried to traffic-stop a vehicle. A man got out and a struggle with police ensued. A deputy was engaged in a fight with a passenger while another deputy hung on to the car door with the driver trying to drive away, the deputy was allegedly dragged 150 feet. The deputy shot and killed the man. The man had been unarmed.

Sonoma County deputies chased David Pelaez-Chavez and claim that he held a hammer and a garden tiller and he made “throwing motions” and they shot and killed him. Ten officers had chased him and opened fire. He was accused of breaking into a home, stealing a car, then fleeing from cops before the firing squad caught up with him.

This weas the second fatal shooting for officer Michael Dietrick who had previously shot and killed Joseph Louis Melvin in 2016.
