On 08/10/2025, shortly before 11:30 a.m., Ocoee Police located a stolen silver SUV in the parking lot of a Publix near 301 West Road. Michael Lamar Crawford, 39, was shot and killed by Bradford County deputies outside his father’s home on Northwest County Road 225 after allegedly making threats toward a local bank. On 07/09/2025 at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery in progress at a Family Dollar store near the intersection of Soutel Drive and Norfolk Boulevard in Northwest Jacksonville. The man, later identified as 20-year-old Jamari Rashaud Akins, allegedly brandished a firearm inside the store and fled on foot with stolen cash before officers arrived.
Officer Luis Mercado III arrived at the scene and began pursuing Akins on foot. During the chase, Akins allegedly turned and fired two rounds at the pursuing officer, striking Officer Mercado in the leg. Officer Mercado returned fire, striking Akins at least once.

Law enforcement officers from the Boynton Beach Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service located Daniels, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound before he could be taken into custody.

Clay County deputies sought to arrest Dajshon Travis Asbell on multiple outstanding warrants. On June 19, 2025 just before 3 p.m., Escambia County deputies received a tip that a man with warrants was working inside the Arby’s on US 98. Deputies located Daniel Lewis Hayes, 37, in the dining area. He fled behind the counter when they approached. Two deputies pursued him; Hayes knocked one deputy down. He then retrieved a knife and confronted three deputies who closed in on him. All three deputies opened fire, striking and killing Hayes in the parking lot. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an independent investigation. Hayes was an Arby’s employee for about 12 years, described by family as humble, smiling, and generous.

On 06/13/2025, Polk County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at a property at 123 West Frostproof Baptist Church Road to execute an arrest warrant for an individual.
