Police deployed stop sticks at Wrightsboro Road and Hagin Road, puncturing the driver-side tires. A PIT maneuver was attempted but traffic conditions prevented it. Kyles ultimately lost control, hit a sign on John Deere Parkway, and his vehicle rolled, coming to rest on its roof. He was found ejected and unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger survived without serious injury.

On 08/23/2025 at approximately 2:40 p.m., a Gordon County deputy attempted to stop a Mercedes on Interstate 75 near Exit 317. Police escalated a chase that continued south to Exit 312 and into the intersection of State Route 53 and the bypass. The pursued vehicle crossed into oncoming lanes and collided head-on with another car. A bystander in the other car was killed, and three additional people were injured.

On 08/11/2025 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Quitman County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a woman who had escaped an attack at a residence near Lucy Lane off State Route 39. Sheriff Charles Davis located Maurice Antwan Spann at the scene, and Spann allegedly attacked the sheriff. In response, the sheriff shot and killed Spann. On the afternoon of August 6, 2025, a Chevrolet Silverado was reported stolen from Hardy Chevrolet on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville. Georgia State Patrol troopers located the truck and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The chase quickly escalated to speeds exceeding 100 mph as the pursued vehicle sped through Hall County toward Jackson County.
Troopers attempted several PIT maneuvers at highway speeds, all unsuccessful. During the pursuit, the truck’s unsecured dog, riding in the bed, was thrown from the vehicle onto the roadway. Witnesses confirmed the ejection happened while the chase was still underway; authorities have not released details on the dog’s condition or whereabouts afterward.
The vehicle continued to be chased south on Candler Road (State Route 60) where he slammed into the rear of 50-year-old Agustin Rivera’s vehicle, forcing it off the road and into trees. Rivera suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene. Davis did not stop and continued to flee until troopers performed another PIT maneuver on GA-332 near Talmo, disabling the truck. The driver ran on foot but was subdued with a taser and taken into custody.
Rivera’s death was the direct result of the high-speed pursuit and collision.

Jarmmal Cox, 30, was the subject of an intense multi-agency law enforcement effort involving Terrell County Sheriff’s Office, Hogansville Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Cox was wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer stemming from a May 2025 incident, during which he allegedly assaulted an officer and took an infant hostage during a brief standoff in Troup County.
Officers located Cox at a residence in the Dawson area of Terrell County on July 17, 2025. Before law enforcement could make direct contact, Cox fatally shot himself inside the residence, ending the standoff abruptly.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken over the investigation, reviewing evidence, tactical communications, and body camera footage from all involved agencies to assess the circumstances leading to Cox’s death.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 8:35 p.m., deputies from the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence in the 800 block of Leslie Street in Thomson, Georgia. When officers arrived, they made entry into the residence and encountered 63-year-old Arval Gross reportedly armed with a shotgun in a hallway of the home.
According to preliminary statements from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Gross raised the shotgun in the direction of deputies, prompting two deputies to open fire. Gross was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene.
The GBI was immediately notified and is conducting an independent investigation, which includes crime scene analysis, interviews, and weapon examination. The firearm allegedly held by Gross was recovered at the scene. No other occupants of the home have been identified or reported harmed.

In the early morning hours of July 3, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Atlanta Police SWAT responded to a home on Burbank Drive SW in southwest Atlanta after a woman and a child escaped the residence and reported that a man inside was armed and barricaded. Officers quickly established a tight perimeter and initiated a full tactical response. The scene was militarized within minutes. Armored BearCat vehicles were positioned. High-intensity tactical lights illuminated the home and surrounding area, and loudspeakers were used to broadcast repeated commands to surrender.
SWAT bore down with pressure while tactical operators maintained positions and monitored movement using aerial drones and thermal imaging cameras. On 06/29/2025, at approximately 8:02 p.m., Emerson Police pursued a Mercedes Benz northbound on I-75 in Bartow County after a reported hit-and-run in Cherokee County. Near milepost 297, an attempted P.I.T. maneuver failed, and the pursuit continued. At milepost 306, the driver, 35-year-old Anthony Solis of Woodstock, made an improper lane change from the far left to the far right lane, striking a Nissan Sentra in the rear. The Mercedes overturned multiple times and Solis was airlifted to Kennestone Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The Nissan driver struck a guardrail but reported no injuries. The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating.

On 06/14/2025 around 9:30 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance in Twin City, Georgia, and discovered 27-year-old Zaria Khadejah Carr (known online as Duchess Dior) dead from gunshot wounds inside her home. An alert was issued for her black 2021 Dodge Challenger. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the vehicle was found in Wayne County. When deputies attempted to stop Carr, he fatally shot himself inside the vehicle. The GBI and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incidents.

On 06/13/2025, Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to apprehend 25-year-old Christopher Clyde Valentine Jr. at a home on Birch Street in Macon, Georgia. Valentine was wanted on three counts of murder in connection with a May 18, 2025, triple homicide at Midtown Daiquiri Bar & Grill in Macon. Before deputies could take him into custody, Valentine died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His father Christopher Clyde Valentine, Sr. had died from suicide under police duress in 2024.

On June 3, around 10:40 p.m., detectives from the Whitfield County Sheriff’s narcotics unit and Dalton Police Drug Unit conducted an undercover drug operation along River Road. At the operation’s conclusion, they moved to arrest Zuccarini. He pointed a handgun at the investigators. Undercover detectives from both agencies opened fire, striking Zuccarini. He was transported to Hamilton Medical Center, where he died. The GBI took over the investigation; no officers were injured.

On June 1, 2025, Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence call at a residence on Still Lake Drive. Outside, they located a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was treated on scene and transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in serious condition. A man remained inside the residence, refused to exit, and was reported to be armed. The Cherokee Multi-Agency SWAT team was activated, bringing a militarized multi-jurisdictional force to the scene.
Officers established a containment perimeter with armed positions and armored vehicles for cover. Negotiators attempted to establish contact for several hours using loudspeakers, while tactical units staged for a potential forced entry. After repeated attempts to secure surrender failed, SWAT escalated by deploying chemical irritants into the home capable of causing severe respiratory distress, intense burning of eyes and skin, and forced disorientation. The irritants were delivered to flush the man out and break resistance.
When no response was observed, SWAT deployed a camera-equipped drone into the residence to conduct an interior search under armed cover. The drone relayed live video to the command post, revealing the man inside with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Tactical officers entered to confirm the scene was secure. No body-worn camera or drone footage has been publicly released. The incident remains under review, and the man’s identity has not been disclosed.

On June 1, 2025, around 8:10 a.m., Cpl. Damion Allen of the Fulton County Police Department was working security at the Heritage Station Apartments at 765 McDaniel Street SW in Atlanta. A bystander alerted Allen that someone was breaking into his marked patrol car. The person was identified as 51-year-old Elieser Rivera Jr. of Passaic, New Jersey. Rivera had allegedly broken a window and reportedly had a piece of flat metal when confronted. According to police, Rivera moved toward Cpl. Allen who opened fire, striking Rivera, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation. There are no body camera or surveillance videos available.

On May 29, 2025, a Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to stop a vehicle on Remington Avenue in Thomasville for not wearing a seatbelt. The driver, identified as 34-year-old James Edward Roberts of Jacksonville, drove away. Police escalated a chase at high speeds through city streets until Roberts lost control of his Lincoln MKS, crashed into a culvert, and the vehicle overturned. Roberts was ejected from the car and transported to Archbold Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A passenger in the vehicle was injured. On May 28, 2025, 50-year-old Carrie Hall of Cartersville was fatally shot by law enforcement during a traffic stop in Bartow County. Earlier that evening, Hall reportedly went to a residence in Bartow County and fired a gun. The homeowner, who knew Hall, identified her to deputies. At approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies from the Bartow County Sheriff's Office, assisted by a Cartersville police officer, located Hall's vehicle at the intersection of SR 20 and Conference Center Drive and conducted a felony traffic stop with guns drawn. Hall exited her vehicle with a gun and did not comply with repeated commands to drop it. Deputies and the officer opened fire, striking Hall. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, and upon completion, the case will be referred to the Bartow County District Attorney’s Office for review. The names of the deputies and the officer involved have not been publicly disclosed.

On 05/16/2025, around 1:22 a.m., a Jones County sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a Jeep driven by 54-year-old Ronald Evans near a recreational complex on GA-49. Evans, who was reportedly driving slowly, not wearing a seatbelt, and appeared to be under the influence, refused to provide his driver's license and drove away. The deputy pursued Evans for approximately two miles until Evans abruptly turned into the parking lot of C&J’s Supermarket. Upon exiting his vehicle, Evans allegedly pointed a firearm at the deputy. The deputy fired multiple shots, killing him. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills is leading the investigation into the incident. Dashcam footage is expected to be released on Monday, and the involved deputy is scheduled to return to duty next week.

On May 16, 2025, Lumpkin County deputies responded to a report of a person in the Publix parking lot. Upon arrival, deputies observed a vehicle behaving erratically. As they approached, the driver, identified as 36-year-old Jacob Karl Wilkerson of Buford, drove away. Deputies escalated a chase, intercepted the vehicle, and took Wilkerson into custody shortly thereafter. Emergency Medical Services were called, and Wilkerson was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The exact cause of death remains unclear and is under investigation.

Deputies attempted to serve a TPO during a stop of an RV driven by James Blake Montgomery, 38. Montgomery produced a converted fully automatic 9mm AR-style pistol and opened fire, killing Deputy Brandon Sikes and critically injuring Deputy Gavin White. On April 24, 2025, officers arrived at Devicco Moss's home in Thomson to execute a search warrant related to a homicide investigation. Moss fled in a blue Chevrolet Silverado. Police escalated a high-speed chase, during which a Georgia Department of Public Safety officer’s vehicle overturned, injuring the officer. Police continued the chase until Moss crashed into a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Ridge Road and Washington Highway, resulting in a fiery crash that killed Moss. The tractor-trailer driver was unharmed.

On April 24, 2025, Fulton County police officers responded to reports of suspicious individuals loitering at 3657 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, a location known for drug activity. Upon arrival, officers encountered several individuals, including 24-year-old Damario Smith. When officers attempted to make contact, Smith fled on foot. During the pursuit, Smith allegedly produced a handgun, prompting officers to discharge their firearms. Smith was struck and later pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital. He had been wanted for armed robbery and aggravated assault and had previously removed an ankle monitor while out on bond.

On April 18, 2025, around 11:40 a.m., a Fulton County police officer stopped 29-year-old Rashan Jarvis Cofield near the Budgetel Inn & Suites on Fulton Industrial Boulevard for jaywalking. Upon discovering Cofield had an active warrant, a South Fulton police officer arrived to assist. As officers attempted to take Cofield into custody, he pulled a pistol from his pocket and began firing while fleeing. South Fulton Police Lt. Charles Cook was struck three times and collapsed. Fulton County Officer Zahir Muid pursued Cofield, returning fire, and was also shot. Cofield sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Lt. Cook underwent surgery and is recovering in the ICU; Officer Muid was treated and released.
