On 10/17/2025, deputies attempted to contact a wanted individual at an apartment complex on South Telshor Boulevard in Las Cruces. The person barricaded inside and refused to surrender. During the standoff, a fire broke out in the apartment, forcing evacuation of nearby units. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, the individual was found dead inside. No other injuries were reported.

On 10/09/2025, around 6:00 p.m., Las Cruces Police responded to reports of a man threatening people in the parking lot of Chili’s Grill & Bar on Telshor Boulevard. The first officer to arrive made contact with 50-year-old Adrian Mullin. Police stated the officer perceived a threat and fired at least one round, striking Mullin. On 09/29/2025 around 3:07 a.m., Albuquerque police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment on Ceja Vista Road SW. After about 30 minutes, officers forced entry when they heard distress calls. Through a partially opened door, they observed Adrian Torres, 39, striking a woman in the head with a hammer. On 08/19/2025, Albuquerque police responded to reports of a naked woman armed with knives in a housing complex near the Owl Café at 10330 Hotel Avenue. On 08/02/2025, Taos County deputies responded to a disorderly conduct call on NM-522 in Arroyo Hondo. Deputies found 64-year-old Patrick Edward Walsh lying in the street and refusing to move. On June 17, 2025, Albuquerque Police responded to a report of an armed disturbance in the parking area of Hotel Parq Central. Upon arrival, officers found Desiree Herrera holding a firearm that belonged to a hotel security guard. She was in a state of mental health crisis. She reportedly first entered the parking area and took the guard’s firearm during a dispute. She then discharged it once at an SUV before police arrival. Officers arrived moments later, and believed she fired at them. Police opened fire immediately. Herrera fell to the ground and died in the hotel parking lot.Desiree Danielle Herrera was born on January 28, 1989, and was described by family and community members as warm, caring, and active in the Legacy Church baptism ministry.

Dennis Armenta, 58, was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Bloomfield, New Mexico, just before 11 p.m. on May 26, 2025. Bloomfield Police said Armenta opened fire, critically wounding one officer. A second officer opened fire and killed Armenta. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital in critical condition. State Police are investigating.

On 02/11/2025, Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies located 32-year-old Max Justin Marlatt, who was wanted on pedophilia charges out of Michigan, in the parking lot of a Walmart at 301 San Mateo Blvd SE. The officer was traveling southbound on North Main Street when Howard Peterson, driving an Oldsmobile northbound, attempted to make a left turn across two southbound lanes. The police vehicle collided with Peterson's car. Both Peterson and the officer were transported to a local hospital, where Peterson was pronounced dead. On 01/06/2025, Jesus Rubio, 28, was stopped by New Mexico State Police officers in Hobbs, New Mexico, at 209 Marland Street. Valencia deputies were called to the 100 block of Ladera Road in Los Lunas for a man arguing with neighbors and firing a gun. The officers were not able to resolve this and returned multiple times. During their last visit, they saw the quarrelsome man point guns at his neighbor, Michael Gabaldon who was allegedly defending himself on his property. Police shot and killed Gabaldon, stating he had a gun. Neighbors and his family in unison said that Gabaldon had been a “very good” person and the other neighbor was constantly threatening everyone in the neighborhood. Police were reportedly aware of this because there had allegedly been a number of similar previous incident involving this neighbor. Michael Gabaldon had been a former sheriff's deputy.

Albuquerque police received a call about a domestic violence situation. They arrived, found an armed man, and called SWAT. Police shot and killed him under undisclosed circumstances.

Wallace Gonzalez was traffic–stopped in Las Cruces. The officer allegedly saw several guns on his dashboard. An unknown exchange took place and Wallace Gonzales drove away. The officer chased him into the White Sands Mall parking lot in Alamogordo. SWAT arrived and escalated a standoff lasting several hours which ended in a shootout with him. He was found dead in his truck.
