On 11/06/2025, after a suspect violated an active protective order, returned to a residence near 5100 South & 4500 West in Kearns, Utah, a SWAT standoff developed involving the Unified Police Department. Nearby homes were evacuated and utilities at the scene were shut off for safety. After more than an hour of negotiations, the individual took his own life around 6 a.m. inside the residence.

On October 29, 2025, Salt Lake City Police officers responded to a report of an assault at the intersection of 2100 South and 300 West. When officers arrived, they encountered a man armed with a rock who threw it at two officers. Officers opened fire, striking the man. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On 09/25/2025, Summit County deputies responded to a reported family dispute at a residence on South Main Street in Coalville. A man barricaded himself inside and refused to come out. SWAT units and negotiators were deployed, and attempts were made to communicate for several hours. A drone was later sent into the home, where the man was observed with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Tactical officers confirmed his death.

On September 2, 2025, around 5:15 p.m., West Jordan police responded to a domestic disturbance at a home near 1900 West and 7300 South. A shelter-in-place order was issued for the surrounding area. Negotiators attempted contact with 26-year-old Elhelbawy Adam Idrees, but communication broke off. Later that evening, officers obtained a warrant and entered the home with a SWAT team. Nine officers, eight from West Jordan and one from Utah Highway Patrol, discharged their weapons during the entry, and Idrees was killed. The case remains under investigation.

On 07/31/2025, Iron County deputies attempted a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 15 for speeding. The driver, 83-year-old John Edgar Beck, continued driving and allegedly forced other vehicles off the road. Deputies performed a PIT maneuver between mile markers 71 and 72, causing Beck’s vehicle to crash. He was killed in the wreck. The case remains under investigation.

Deputies responded to reports of a man, later identified as Jorge Fernandez Andrade, who had allegedly barricaded himself inside a trailer in Hyrum and opened fire on officers. On June 23, 2025, Utah County Sheriff’s Office SWAT officers served a search warrant at a home on East Duggan Drive in Eagle Mountain as part of an investigation into aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault. On May 30, 2025, Taylorsville Police Department officers identified a stolen vehicle being driven by 35-year-old Caysee Rebolloso. When officers attempted to stop her, Rebolloso drove away. Police did not engage in an active ground pursuit but instead tracked the vehicle from a helicopter. Officers deployed tire spikes in an effort to disable the vehicle, but she continued driving. The vehicle ultimately crashed at the intersection of 4800 South and 500 West in Murray, striking two other cars. Rebolloso died from her injuries at the scene. Two other individuals were injured in the crash; one was transported to the hospital and the other was taken by family members for medical care. No body camera footage or additional video evidence has been publicly released.

On May 23, 2025, around 2:20 a.m., Unified Police officers responded to a reported armed robbery near 165 W. 7200 South in Midvale, Utah. Officers encountered 32-year-old Dustin Pearson of West Jordan. Police stated that Pearson was armed with a knife and a confrontation followed. Las Vegas police found a deceased person in a large container behind a business on the 100 block of North 3rd Street after reports of a foul odor on 05/21/2025. The investigation led to 63-year-old Joseph Del Rivo. Later that day, Utah Highway Patrol escalated a high-speed chase of Del Rivo on Interstate 70, reaching speeds of 140 mph. After spike strips were deployed, he attempted to evade a second set, lost control, and was ejected during a rollover crash. He died at the scene. The deceased person found in the container was identified as Matthew Kelemen, 56, a freelance reporter who wrote for Las Vegas magazine who had been Del Rivo’s roommate.

On May 5, 2025, around 11:30 p.m., members of the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force were executing a search warrant at a residence near 400 North and 800 East in Orem, Utah. The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug distribution activities involving a man who had been arrested earlier that evening. During the execution of the warrant, officers encountered 24-year-old Jesse Anderson inside the residence. At 10:25 p.m. on April 5, 2025, Springville police responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence near 180 South and 300 West. Officers found a woman inside the home. As they investigated, a man exited and stabbed one officer during an unprovoked attack. Other officers opened fire and shot him at least once. Around 2:00 a.m., officers from the Ogden Metro Gang Task Force attempted to arrest a man at Motel 6 on 1206 West 21st Street in connection with a recent armed robbery. The man, identified by police as a white supremacist gang member with a lengthy criminal history, ran from officers and allegedly pulled a gun. Two officers opened fire and shot him. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. One officer was also shot in the leg during the incident, but the agency has not disclosed whether the man fired his weapon. At approximately 3:20 a.m. on April 4, 2025, police attempted a traffic stop near 7200 South State Street in Midvale, Utah. The vehicle did not stop. Police escalated to a chase, during which a passenger, later identified as 41-year-old Luis Gomez of Provo, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers found Gomez hiding in the bed of a dump truck at 7420 South State Street. He barricaded himself inside the truck bed and pointed a firearm at an officer’s head. A SWAT team responded, and after several hours of negotiations, Gomez died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On 03/09/2025, Washington County deputies attempted to stop Boyd Paul Brooke, 41, while he was riding a stolen motorcycle eastbound on Sunset Drive near Dixie Drive in St. George, Utah. Brooke did not stop. Police chased him through multiple streets, reaching speeds over 65 mph and running stop signs.
