On May 11, 2025, a Duchesne County deputy responded to a domestic violence call in western Duchesne County. The woman reportedly opened the door holding a handgun, allegedly pointing it at the deputy. The deputy opened fire, striking her in the chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Utah State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.

On May 5, 2025, around 11:30 p.m., members of the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force were executing a search warrant at a residence near 400 North and 800 East in Orem, Utah. The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug distribution activities involving a man who had been arrested earlier that evening. During the execution of the warrant, officers encountered 24-year-old Jesse Anderson inside the residence. According to law enforcement, Anderson did not comply with commands, leading to a confrontation during which officers fired shots. A loaded handgun was reportedly recovered from the floor next to Anderson. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Officer-Involved Critical Incident protocol team is conducting an investigation into the shooting. Anderson's family and friends have expressed concerns and are seeking further information regarding the circumstances of his death.

At approximately 1:55 a.m. on April 21, 2025, Farmington Police responded to a domestic violence call at Lupine Way and Foxglove Road. A woman reported that a man was holding a gun to her head. Officers arrived and found the man and woman outside the residence. The man was armed with a handgun and refused multiple commands to drop it. One officer opened fire and killed him. The man died at the scene. The Davis County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol Team is investigating the shooting. The officer was placed on administrative leave.

On April 8, 2025, a West Valley City Police officer attempted to stop two motorcyclists reportedly driving at high speed on 3500 South near 3200 West. Officers allegedly called off the chase. One of the motorcyclists promptly turned eastbound onto Parkway Boulevard from 3600 West, lost control, and crashed. The 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the crash site. The West Valley City Crash Investigation Team is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.

At 10:25 p.m. on April 5, 2025, Springville police responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence near 180 South and 300 West. Officers found a woman inside the home. As they investigated, a man exited and stabbed one officer during an unprovoked attack. Other officers opened fire and shot him at least once. The man was transported to Utah Valley Hospital, where he died. The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The man’s name has not been released.

Around 2:00 a.m., officers from the Ogden Metro Gang Task Force attempted to arrest a man at Motel 6 on 1206 West 21st Street in connection with a recent armed robbery. The man, identified by police as a white supremacist gang member with a lengthy criminal history, ran from officers and allegedly pulled a gun. Two officers opened fire and shot him. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. One officer was also shot in the leg during the incident, but the agency has not disclosed whether the man fired his weapon. The officer was treated and released. The Weber County Attorney’s Office is investigating the shooting, and the involved officers were placed on leave.

At approximately 3:20 a.m. on April 4, 2025, police attempted a traffic stop near 7200 South State Street in Midvale, Utah. The vehicle did not stop. Police escalated to a chase, during which a passenger, later identified as 41-year-old Luis Gomez of Provo, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers found Gomez hiding in the bed of a dump truck at 7420 South State Street. He barricaded himself inside the truck bed and pointed a firearm at an officer’s head. A SWAT team responded, and after several hours of negotiations, Gomez died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police attempted a traffic stop on Interstate 15 near Cedar City, Utah. The driver did not stop, and police escalated a chase northbound. During the pursuit, the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing near mile marker 66. The driver was killed at the scene.

On 03/09/2025, Washington County deputies attempted to stop Boyd Paul Brooke, 41, while he was riding a stolen motorcycle eastbound on Sunset Drive near Dixie Drive in St. George, Utah. Brooke did not stop. Police chased him through multiple streets, reaching speeds over 65 mph and running stop signs. At the intersection of 1400 West and Snow Canyon Parkway, he collided with a minivan while attempting to maneuver between lanes at a red light. He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle had been reported stolen in 2023.

On February 6, 2025, Layton Police Department officers responded to a domestic violence incident at the Seasons of Layton apartment complex in Layton, Utah. Upon arrival, officers reported that a man had fired shots and barricaded himself inside an apartment. Police secured the area, evacuated residents, and attempted negotiations. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to communicate, officers entered the apartment and found the man deceased. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man inside a vehicle who allegedly fired at police. Police opened fire, and the man fled. On January 2, 2025, officers attempted to apprehend 27-year-old Kobie Davis wanted in connection with a residential arson investigation in Salt Lake City. He did not stop. Officers escalated a high-speed pursuit through multiple counties in Utah in the Salt Lake area. The man allegedly fired several rounds at officers chasing him. Police deployed spike strips. The pursuit ended at approximately 12:30 AM on January 3, 2025, when he crashed his truck at a high rate of speed near 12400 South Redwood Road in Riverton, causing the vehicle to overturn. Police engaged him in a shootout and killed him.

During the December 30 encounter, Nathan Paul allegedly had some sort of unidentified weapon. Police opened fire and killed him. The shooting is being investigated by the Davis County Officer-Involved Critical Incident Protocol Team.

On December 17, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., corrections deputies at the Millard County Jail, located at 765 South Hwy 99, Fillmore, Utah, found 39-year-old Casey Michael Schuurman unresponsive in his cell during a routine check. Emergency medical services were called to transport Schuurman to Fillmore Community Hospital. Despite continued life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Schuurman had been arrested on December 9, 2024, following a fatal accident and had spent eight days in custody before his death. The Millard County Sheriff's Office has requested an independent investigation by the Iron-Garfield-Beaver-Kane Critical Incident Task Force, which is standard protocol. No foul play is suspected. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the official cause and manner of death.

On 11/23/2024, Ogden Police officers were dispatched to a domestic-related call at a residence in the 900 block of 1150 North Street to assist a woman in retrieving her belongings. Officers encountered her estranged husband, 45-year-old Jeffrey Blue, who displayed confrontational behavior. Police stated that Blue made remarks about retrieving a gun and returned with what officers believed to be a handgun, later determined to be a replica firearm.

An officer discharged their weapon, fatally striking Blue. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including body-worn camera footage, remain under investigation. On November 19, 2024, a fatal crash occurred in Washington County, Utah, involving a motorcyclist and a deputy.
