On 11/04/2025, following a vehicle pursuit initiated by the Semmes Police Department, 34-year-old Delyshia LeShaun Molette crashed the vehicle in the jurisdiction of the Mobile Police Department. A boy in the vehicle died from injuries sustained in the crash and another child was left seriously injured. Investigators believe the child who died was their own.

On October 30, 2025, deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office located a 13-year-old boy behind an abandoned mobile home in Cameron after he was wanted for the homicide of his 68-year-old grandmother. When deputies approached the boy, he allegedly fled on foot into a wooded area, grabbed a two-by-four piece of lumber from a nearby yard, and charged at an officer. On September 3, 2025, around 1:45 p.m., Mobile police responded to a report of a disorderly subject at a home on the 4200 block of Bayfront Road. The man, identified as 50-year-old Woodrow Meservey III, fired a shot from inside the residence. SWAT and the Crisis Intervention Team were deployed. After several hours of attempted negotiation, Meservey exited the home and fired at officers. Police opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

On 08/14/2025, deputies with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop 44-year-old Joel Fuller, who was wanted on multiple domestic violence charges and misdemeanor warrants. Fuller refused to stop, and police escalated a high-speed chase through Mobile. The pursuit reached Airport Boulevard, where Fuller ran a red light at Florida Street and crashed into a Jeep Cherokee. Both Fuller and the Jeep driver were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Fuller later died, while the Jeep driver sustained broken bones but was stabilized.

On 06/14/2025 at approximately 12:41 a.m., Ocean Springs Police Department officers attempted a traffic stop on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle near Bowen Avenue. The driver, Joseph Jereidini, 26, did not stop, and officers escalated a chase north on Cox Avenue into unincorporated Jackson County. The pursuit continued as Jereidini entered Bienville Boulevard (Highway 90), where he collided with a westbound silver Chrysler 300 at the intersection with Cox Avenue. Jereidini was transported to Ocean Springs Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver and passenger of the Chrysler 300 were hospitalized at USA Medical Center in Mobile. Mississippi Highway Patrol is handling the crash reconstruction.

On 06/14/2025 around 8 p.m., Summerville Police Department officers conducted a welfare check at a mobile home in Summervillage Mobile Home Park after receiving concerns about Patrick David Hatcher’s safety. As officers approached the residence, they reportedly heard a gunshot from inside. Officers then entered and engaged Hatcher, ultimately shooting him inside the home. He was pronounced dead at approximately 9:18 p.m. No information has been released regarding whether Hatcher fired at officers or posed an immediate threat when they entered. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are leading the investigation.

Recognizing him from prior interactions, officers proceeded to his residence in the 400 block of South 20th Avenue.

At around 7:00 p.m., officers arrived at the residence and attempted to make contact. Despite efforts, including communication through an upstairs window, he did not respond. Officers then breached the door and observed him holding a firearm. Police retreated and requested assistance from local agencies and the joint Bozeman Police and Gallatin County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team (SRT). Streets were closed, and neighboring homes were evacuated to ensure public safety.

Over the next 27 hours, crisis negotiators from Bozeman, Billings, Lewis & Clark County, and Gallatin Mobile Crisis engaged in communication attempts with the man. On the evening of December 4, communication ceased. Officers entered the residence and found the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No shots were fired by officers during the standoff, and there were no reported injuries to emergency personnel or civilians.

On 09/08/2024, 26-year-old Rhyker Earl experienced a seizure at his residence on Bahama Drive in the Island Grove Mobile Home Park, DeMotte, Indiana. His grandmother called 911 for medical assistance. Jasper County Sheriff's deputies and paramedics arrived on the scene.

While in a postictal state—a period of confusion following a seizure—Earl reportedly became agitated. Family members stated that during this state, Earl accidentally bumped into a responder. In response, deputies restrained Earl by pinning him face-down on the floor and handcuffing his hands behind his back. Body camera footage shows Earl pleading for relief, saying, "Grandma, please, make 'em get off of me."

Approximately two minutes after Earl stopped moving, first responders noticed he wasn't breathing. They initiated CPR and transported him to a hospital, where he was placed on life support. Earl died two days later, on 09/10/2024.

On 07/25/2024, Arkansas State Police responded to reports of a standoff at a mobile RV home on E Walnut St in DeValls Bluff. The individual, Darrell Lawayne Esau II, allegedly barricaded himself inside the residence after police arrived to arrest him for unspecified charges. During the ensuing four-hour standoff, Esau fired at least 169 rounds at officers. Despite unknown tactical measures undertaken by law enforcement, police ultimately shot and killed Esau. The investigation is being led by the Arkansas State Police.

Mobile PD Officer Roy Adams drove across an intersection and ran a red light with allegedly blue lights on but no siren at 11 p.m. and pulled into the path of a motorcycle. The police vehicle caused Sumner Howard to crash his motorcycle, killing him. Fox10 pulled the crash report and found that a brick building to the right blocks the view of any approaching cars from the south, which means Howard likely never saw the police car. It had no sirens and Howard very likely was completely unaware of the police car that ran the red light and suddenly blocked his lane.

The intersection has a known blind spot. Police allege that he was speeding through red lights because he was on an “emergency call” but did not disclose what emergency they were chasing. The lack of sirens late at night was also not explained by MPD.

Mobile PD finally disclosed that the officer was Roy Adams Jr. This was the fourth crash he has caused in 2024 alone. Two of the crashes occurred on the same day separately. Another crash happened when he fell asleep while driving his patrol car. Another crash happened when he was seen running a stop sign. The final crash occurred on 7/9/2024 during which he killed Sumner Howard. Local media report that after all these crashes, he is still on patrol but he is no longer driving.

This is the second motorcyclist killed in Mobile in 2024 by negligent MPD officers. The first case, motorcyclist Robert Sayen who was killed by MPD while riding a motorcycle, is currently before a grand jury. The officer in the Sayen crash was Callegari.

On April 27, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., New Haven Police Department officers responded to a domestic battery call at 6008 Moeller Road, Lot #165, in the Cedarwood Trails mobile home park. During an attempt to arrest 37-year-old Robert A. Vicena, an altercation occurred in which Vicena attacked Sgt. Howard Lininger and Patrolman Aaron Koch with a knife, causing injuries.

Officers opened fire, fatally wounding Vicena, who was pronounced dead in his home. Sgt. Lininger and Patrolman Koch were transported to local hospitals with stable injuries.

Sgt. Lininger, Patrolman Koch, and Patrolman Braden Pope were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. A police autopsy confirmed that Vicena died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

The Indiana State Police, with assistance from the Allen County Coroner’s Office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, are conducting the investigation.

On March 29, 2024, Robert Sayen was killed in a collision with a Mobile Police Department (MPD) patrol car, driven by Officer Paul Callegari Jr. Eyewitnesses called 911, stating that the officer had hit and killed the motorcyclist and had fled the scene. Four separate eyewitnesses corroborated the 911 call, reporting the officer fleeing after the fatal crash. Surveillance video of the incident is available.

An investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) found that Officer Callegari was speeding through the intersection at 56 mph at the time of the crash. ALEA confirmed that there was no emergency or justification for the speed. However, ALEA's report did not include any mention of the officer fleeing the scene. MPD has not taken any disciplinary action against Officer Callegari beyond reassigning him to administrative duty.

Officer Callegari is also under investigation for the beating of motorist Beezer DuBose Jr., whom he had pulled from his vehicle during an unrelated incident.

On March 23, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers responded to a 911 call reporting a partially naked man armed with a knife at the Plaza Del Rey mobile home park, located at 1225 Vienna Drive. The caller, later identified as 19-year-old Emmanuel Perez Becerra, was experiencing a mental health crisis and had contacted emergency services on himself. Upon arrival, officers encountered Perez Becerra, who was naked from the waist down and holding a kitchen knife. Officers repeatedly commanded him to drop the weapon. Initially, Perez Becerra walked away but then turned and advanced toward Officer Kevin Lemos, disregarding commands to stop. Officer Lemos discharged his firearm twice, striking Perez Becerra. Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Perez Becerra was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. Officer Lemos was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome. Perez Becerra's family reported that he had been struggling with mental health issues, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Columbia police were sent to Pine Grove Village, a mobile home community at 3900 Clark Lane in Columbia for a domestic violence call. Police arrived and alleged that a man pointed a gun at them. Police called SWAT and bore down on the trailer until the man died from suicide under duress.

On 02/05/2024, Altamonte Springs Police Department (ASPD) responded to a welfare check in the River Run neighborhood after residents reported that 65-year-old Eric Seckington was walking through the area with a rifle, acting strangely and appearing agitated. Upon arrival, officers encountered Seckington holding a rifle. Police reportedly issued firm commands for Seckington to drop the weapon, which he ignored. Police allege Seckington raised or attempted to position the rifle, prompting officers to open fire, striking and killing him. Seckington was pronounced dead at the scene.

Body camera footage released by ASPD shows officers approaching Seckington and issuing commands before the shooting occurred. At this time, the names of the officer(s) involved have not been disclosed.

Seckington had a history of mental illness, resulting in approximately 40 calls for service to his residence over the past year. Two weeks prior to the incident, he was assessed by the Aspire Mobile Response Unit and briefly hospitalized. Neighbors reported ongoing disturbances involving Seckington, including stalking and trespassing. A restraining order against him had been approved just minutes before the fatal encounter.

Temple PD were sent to the 900 block of South 9th Street in Temple for a report of a suicidal man with a gun. Hartley allegedly had a gun and locked himself into a mobile home with police arrived. Police brought a drone and escalated a standoff. Hartley under pressure allegedly fired a shot at a drone that appeared at his window. Police claim he pointed a gun or fired a shot at an officer also. Police shot and killed him through the window of his home while he was inside. There is no record of any mental health help having been sent instead of a militarized standoff that led to his predictable death.

A Border Patrol agent from the Las Cruces Station responded in a Mobile Video Surveillance System truck, along with another agent in a marked vehicle and a K9 handler in an unmarked unit.The K9 unit tried to traffic-stop the vehicle. At least 2 CBP units chased the vehicle. The agents admitted that they turned off their lights and sirens due to bad weather. The logic of this explanation is not clear. Police allege they briefly lost sight of the vehicle and found it crashed. This is a common explanation in police hunting migrants and other vehicles as it shifts responsibility away from officers who “lose” a vehicle they are chasing moments before a fatal crash. One Guatemalan woman died in the crash. This fatality happened as part of an Operation Lone Star migrant hunt.

On January 22, 2024, deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a mental health crisis involving 81-year-old Janet Sours at Rails End Mobile Home Park in Wildwood, Florida. On January 9, 2024, at approximately noon, detectives from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) Tactical Apprehension & Confrontation (TAC) Unit arrived at a residence in the 1500 block of Jody Road, West Palm Beach, Florida, to serve an arrest warrant for armed carjacking. After entering the home, the man retreated to a bedroom, and shortly after, a gunshot was heard from behind the closed door. Following standard procedure, detectives called the on-duty SWAT team for assistance.

The SWAT team attempted to communicate with the man repeatedly. Hearing no response, officers breached the bedroom door and discovered the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
