Michigan State Police troopers were called to help Berrien County sheriff’s deputies arrest Josh Tanner, 49, for aggravated domestic assault, attempted arson and other warrants. Tanner had run into the woods near Bailey and Townhall roads in Pipestone Township but troopers tracked him with a K9.Police found him “sitting against a tree in the woods, holding a knife to his throat,” whereupon troopers used a taser and arrested him. After moving Tanner out of the woods for “several minutes,” troopers said he experienced a medical emergency and was unresponsive and died.

On April 5, a state trooper was alerted to a Jeep Cherokee that was wanted out of New York for an alleged abduction of a woman that had occurred earlier that day.The Jeep was driving south on I-95 near the Backlick Road exit in Fairfax County when the trooper pulled the driver over. The trooper made contact with the driver before returning to his patrol car where he positively identified the driver as the wanted abduction person. The trooper began walking back to the Jeep when the driver sped away, struck a guardrail, crashed near the Route 234 exit in Prince William County. The vehicle continued south on I-95.
A number of state troopers joined the chase and positioned themselves around the speeding Jeep. The Jeep reportedly eventually ran off the road near the Quantico exit, crashing into the woods. Someone was shooting from the Jeep. Police began firing back.
The abductor and the abducted passenger Tatiana David were injured. Police said the man was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. David died at the scene. Police steadfastly refuse to say who killed hostage Tatiana David, deputies or her abductor.

When stop sticks were deployed, the Kia went into North City and crashed into a Blue Infiniti G35. On April 2, a Border Patrol agent saw a man in an SUV drive through the checkpoint and followed the man along Interstate 10, when the driver of the SUV approached a closed vehicle gate near a home on Burris Ranch outside of Las Cruces, turned his vehicle around and stopped. Border Patrol agents reportedly exited their vehicles and approached the SUV, attempted to open the driver side door and tried to break the driver side window with a collapsible baton. Under assault, the driver drove away again. Agents had spike strips placed and flattened the vehicle’s tires and it stopped and the man exited the vehicle on foot along Dona Ana County Road C003. Agents chased after him on foot until he swung a wooden club at them multiple times. They shot and killed him with 16 bullets. He was not identified. Police state he had been a US citizen.

***UPDATE 10/15/2023: While the DA initially cleared the shooter officers, the Washington County Coroner spoke up and said evidence presented at the inquest proves without a doubt the usage of deadly force was unnecessary and the officer responsible for Hoover Jr.'s death should be held accountable. Coroner Timothy Warco concluded from testimony presented at the inquest that the manner of death was a homicide and the person responsible is Officer Tyler Evans of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
Police attempted to make a traffic stop on Eduardo Lee Hoover but report that he did not stop. Police surrounded his vehicle which he allegedly put it in reverse,first hitting a police cruiser and then a utility pole. He then allegedly began to drive towards police again when officers shot and killed him.It is not known how many officers fired their weapons.
