On August 30, 2023, Cleveland County Deputy Jordan Pyle was fatally shot at her home in Norman, Oklahoma. Her husband, Vaughn Cannon, also a deputy with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with her death. The incident followed a domestic argument during which Pyle's 17-year-old son reported hearing multiple gunshots from the bedroom. Responding officers found Pyle unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.

The medical examiner’s report detailed that Pyle sustained 12 gunshot wounds, 11 to the left side of her face and one to the right, with significant brain injuries caused by bone fragments. Vaughn Cannon, who was terminated from the sheriff's office after the incident, initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty in October 2024.

Deputy Pyle was remembered as a dedicated officer committed to serving her community. She was laid to rest on September 7, 2023, with full honors, including a 21-gun salute. This case highlights the tragic impact of domestic violence, even among law enforcement professionals.

OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
The Cameron parish Sheriff’s Office along with the Sulphur Police Department, Louisiana State Police and other agencies started a joint manhunt after a vehicle refused a traffic stop that began when a Cameron Parish deputy on patrol escalated a chase. Police allege that the fleeing driver began firing at the deputy, striking the patrol unit several times. Other agencies joined the hunt as it continued into Calcasieu Parish. The driver crashed his vehicle near Highway 108 and Gum Island Road, again being involved with officers firing at him and allegedly firing back. He was found dead. Police claim not to know whether he was shot by officers or died of a self-inflicted gunshot. Police did not publicly identify him nor publicly provide any BWC or other evidence.

Newnan PD saw a Corvette with dark window tint and took up chase. The chase escalated until the man stopped. Police released a K9 and allege that he exited the car and came toward them with a knife and injured the K9.
Bystander video later showed a very different narrative in which the car stopped at the end of the chase, deputies are seen busting out the car windows, sending a K9 into the vehicle that dragged a black man out. The man ran away from the car to escape the dog that was biting at his arm. His arms were pointed downward in gestures protecting his body from the attacking dog and on video, he had no visible weapon and shielded against the dog attack. Police shot and killed him. Media submitted the privately acquired heavily edited BWC footage that edited the killing out while police refuse to provide any video or reports at all. The initial police story was proven by video to be untruthful.

Celina PD at 2 a.m. arrived at a park conducting an investigation into possible marijuana smell coming from a car. Police began an altercation and Andrew allegedly refused to exit his car and instead tried to drive away. He drove past an officer who fell down and hit his head. Celina PD then fired shots into the moving vehicle, killing Corey Andrew, 24, in front of his girlfriend Hannah Pawelski and their newborn baby who were fortunate not to be hit by police shooting at the vehicle. Police allege that he “drove toward police” and released partial dashcam and bodycam videos linked below. Andrew appeared to try to drive past the officer and did not make any visible turns to try to hit him. Police later claimed that he tried to run the officer over. This is not seen on video and he appeared to try to drive away, did not touch the officer who is seen falling on his own. Police Chief Tom Wale stated: “So independent investigators, independent prosecutor presenting it to the grand jury to determine that the officers are justified," seemingly revealing that the anticipated outcome that this killing will be Justified by a grand jury may be predetermined. Ohio police created this incident by attempting to make a petty cannabis possession bust and ended up executing a young father who tried to drive away from the confrontation.
