Hampton County deputies chased Cecil “Scotty” Folk for undisclosed reasons when he allegedly fired shots at them through the back window of a vehicle. The vehicle stopped and Folk allegedly committed suicide under police duress by shooting himself in the head.

Vanderburgh County SO began investigating 49-year-old Steven Howard Goldstein after being made aware of a video reported on social media in which he can be seen firing a handgun near another person. Police allege that a juvenile was present for that incident as well. Vandenburgh deputies arrived and a person exited the trailer and told police that Goldstein wouldn’t surrender and was armed. SWAT brought an armored vehicle, shot gas canisters into the home, and eventually ripped apart the trailer walls. Deputies spotted Goldstein pointing a handgun at police and allegedly fired a shot. SWAT shot and killed him.

Per Colorado Springs PD, two men allegedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint from a woman. Colorado Springs PD escalated a chase, used a PIT maneuver and the car crashed and rolled several times. Henry Jackson died in the police chase crash.

An alleged burglary occurred just before 2 a.m. Thursday. A tribal Navajo PD officer was dispatched and the officer confronted the man. The officer shot and killed him. It is unknown whether he was armed or not. The names of the man who had been killed and officer were not made public.

Joseph Martinez was evading arrest for a prior crime and barricaded himself with woman and 3 young children. Police tried to serve attempted murder warrant for the old case and shot and killed him. The man’s family alleges that the shooting was not necessary. They also said that a fight broke out between family members who were tasered after the man’s death and police and several family members were arrested.

Gardena PD were chasing a man in a gray Dodge Charger for speeding and not stopping at red traffic lights early Tuesday morning.
The driver fled into the L.A. area, at which time officers claimed that they “terminated the pursuit.”The man crashed into multiple parked cars shortly after 2:30 a.m. near West 94th Street and Harvard Boulevard and was killed. Another unnamed person was injured. Police did not publicly identify the person who was killed.

On April 13 at the Chase Suite Hotel at 39150 Cedar Boulevard, a carjacking occurred in the city of Newark. Members of the Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force and Fremont Police Department conducted a "high-risk stop."At least two officers fired their weapons when they ordered a teenager out of the car, he complied with his hands in the air but moved an arm which caused the shooting. He only carried an Airsoft replica gun and never touched it.

Indiana State Police were called about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on reports of shots being fired from the apartment. More than 100 officers from multiple agencies responded to the shooting in Kendallville when Michael P. Emmons fired shots from a rifle at police and shot randomly out of the building until around 9 p.m. SWAT teams worked their way into the building while Emmons fired hundreds of rounds from a second-floor apartment in Kendallville. He was shot at about 6 a.m. the following morning by SWAT team members and died.

Brandon Demaree was wanted on multiple child pornography charges. When SWAT came to arrest him, he died by suicide under police duress in the 7400 block of Basil Western Road in Violet of a self-inflicted gunshot.

A man called NYPD and said someone was breaking into the home of his elderly uncle in Brooklyn. Police arrived and the elderly man opened the door to police with a gun. Police fired shots at him through the door immediately, hitting the man six times and killing him. Police had inadvertently shot and killed the homeowner who had worried about a burglary and responded by opening the door slightly with a gun for this reason. There was a strong reaction in the neighborhood for this senseless police killing. The man was much loved in the area, was known to sit in coffee shops and help kids with homework and had looked out for the neighborhood.

Richard Ruiz was shot and killed by Brevard County deputies after a chase along multiple highways.
Deputies had confronted him when someone reported that he was trying to break into cars at Sunset Bay apartments. Deputies recognized Ruiz as someone wanted for previous domestic violence charges who was prohibited from being in the complex.Ruiz drove away and deputies chased himacross State Road 520, State Road 528 and I-95, using a PIT maneuver that caused a crash and the truck to roll over on its side. Approaching deputies heard a single gunshot. Deputies fired into the truck and killed Ruiz.

JSO responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on Copper Springs Road on the Southside at 12:30 a.m. A woman was reportedly trapped inside a bedroom with a man “terrorizing her” with a knife. When Jacksonville deputies arrived, the woman had already escaped through the bathroom window while the man remained inside. After she escaped the building through a master bedroom window, SWAT bore down on the apartment with a standoff. SWAT fired gas into the home and the man ran out.
JSO’s Urban Assault Vehicle went in through the fence. Via helicopter, the man was seen trapped between two homes when officers arrived with guns drawn. The K9 was released and as the dog reached the man, he raised a knife to try and stab the police dog. Police shot and killed him.

David Earl Kingsley was on his way to the dog park with his beloved dog Nakita just before 5 a.m. A car driven by off-duty Metro Officer Benjamin Coreas collided with him forcefully, gravely injuring the man. His dog was confiscated by police as Kingsley went to the ICU. Kingsley languished in the hospital for several more days before he died. Police arrived at the family home and confiscated all of Nakita’s puppies, announcing all dogs would be placed for adoption because having unregistered puppies violated Las Vegas city ordinance. The officer was finally also arrested. After a public outcry, the family was given back the dog and puppies several weeks later. It is unknown whether the officer will face any charges for having caused a fatality while severely intoxicated.

New Haven PD’s Special Victims Unit investigating the child pornography case broke down the door of Yergeau’s neighbor and handcuffed the woman before realizing they raided had the wrong apartment. On second attempt, they broke down another door, this time the home of Tim Yergeau, their original target for arrest for child porn. Tim Yergeau committed suicide under police duress when police entered.

According to police, Davye Hernandez Rafael and a woman stole a box of ammunition from Academy Sports + Outdoors Apex shopping center store on the afternoon of April 11 and was shot and killed by Denzel Ward, the 29-year-old SBI agent. Rafael’s mother questions the entire narrative and states: “In the audios you can hear that no one knew that (Ward) was an officer,” she said.One caller described a man (Ward) choking another person.“He has him on the floor and he’s like, choking him,” a female caller told the 911 operator. On April 11, 20-year-old Brandon Zapata died less than an hour after he was restrained and handcuffed by security officers at La Gran Plaza shopping center in south Fort Worth. The confrontation was recorded on bystander video and Zapata’s family alleges that security which included an off-duty Fort Worth police officer used excessive force and were recorded kneeling on Zapata’s back as they hold him face-down on the floor and he kicks his legs. Family members state they still do not know why he was targeted by police. Police claim that Zapata was “acting erratically” and security guards including the off-duty Fort Worth officer restrained him and put him in handcuffs. He died. He had been seen struggling to breathe during the arrest.
The family alleges that he had asthma, was seen suffering and asked for water which he was denied. The family believes that the security officers’ actions may have impeded his breathing.

Fairfield County Sheriff's Office SWAT team deputies were preparing to execute an arrest warrant on Basil Western Road. They allege that when they arrived, aman discharged a firearm. He was then found in an upstairs bedroom, dead from suicide under police arrest. He had a warrant for failure to appear on an initial indictment for a child pornography charge.

Houston PD officer K. Cummins of the Gang Division saw a man described as being in his 40s who the officer felt may be driving a stolen car. The man backed into the patrol car and an altercation began. A female in the car took the officer’s taser as he was about to use it and police shot and killed the man.

Police received a call by a woman to 911 inside a home on Lindsey Place about a family hostage situation. The caller wanted police to assist with removing the children from the residence.
When police heard gun fire, SWAT entered the home, found Oliver dead behind the front door and shortly after, they found his 19-year-old stepson dead. In addition to the men, there were also two girls age 14 and 16 at the scene. Antonio Oliver, 40, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the front door of the home under police duress. The stepson is not listed in this space as he is believed to have been killed before police became involved.

Around 7 p.m. on April 10, Monroe County deputies Trent Walls and Shawn Sullivan responded to a call at Cedar Bluff Nature Preserve. The call was later determined to have been placed by Howard,. The caller stated there was a body at the bottom of the cliffs at the nature preserve. Along with members of Monroe County Fire Protection District, the deputies conducted a search in the area the night of April 10 and did not locate a body. During their search, however, the deputies found Howard and a woman engaged in a physical altercation at the top of the cliff. Deputies and fire personnel restrained and handcuffed him. He jumped after running away from them and fell to his death.

Per officials,at about 6:30 p.m. the trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 65 near the 101-mile marker in Conecuh County. Lafayette PD alleges that officers responded to a report of someone shooting at the La Bamba Bar Lounge around 10:49 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, 2023. A Lafayette police officer was working at a security detail that night discharged his weapon during the incident which struck someone. The individual was taken to a hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound but died later that night. The reasons for the shooting were not explained by police.

Felipe Amezcua Manzo reportedly tried to hijack cars and was seen in the road with a gun in his hand by trooper Andrew Tuttle. Tuttle shot and killed him, firing a total of 47 bullets at him. The shooting was ruled justified by a Grand Jury.

Jared Decker, a 40-year-old white male, was walking on the side of the I-84 when an Ada deputy stopped. An unknown altercation ensued and Decker defended himself with a knife. The officer sustained cuts and killed him. It is unknown what triggered this incident and why it could not have been avoided.

Two Nogales PD officers confronted Toledo Ochoa in the parking lot after claiming to see him with a bulletproof vest and gun. They shot and killed him. The police account was unverifiable because Nogales PD does not use body cameras. Some low-quality bystander videos were found but reportedly do not contain much usable evidence. Toledo Ochoa was well known to Nogales PD for having mental health issues. Police believed he had a gun or access to one and put out a P1 (Priority 1) to all officers that he was back in town. With so much focus trained on him city-wide for apparently possibly having a gun and being restricted from gun ownership, two officers chased him down and killed him. There is no evidence that he threatened officers in any way. The shooter officers were cleared by the County Attorney.

Woodland PD spotted a vehicle being driven erratically on Saturday afternoon and attempted to pull them over. Police escalated a chase and as a result, the car collided with two other vehicles, causing two cars to ignite in car fires. One person died and “nearly a dozen” people were injured, according to the police press release. The vehicle had been driven by a 13-year-old who panicked when hunted by police.

An officer from the Chetek Police Department conducted a traffic stop around 3:38 p.m. and during a shootout, the Chetek officer and another officer from Cameron were pronounced dead at the scene. The other person in the shooting was taken to a hospital and later died also.

Alabama State Police tried to traffic-stop a vehicle that continued driving, fled into the woods with trooper Jeremy Alford firing shots. The vehicle crashed, killing at least 1 person in the vehicle. It is unclear whether the man died from the crash or gunshots by Officer Alford.

Mattherw Roy Chelgren was driving an SUV when a Pennsylvania State Trooper escalated a chase for unknown reasons, attacked him with a PIT maneuver which forced him to crash into a tree and die from what his family states was a slow painful death. Chelgren had been a popular tattoo artist and is described as having been a kind soul. Police did not comment why they created this deadly chase. SWAT arrived and found a man and woman dead inside the home. It is believed that the man had killed the female and then committed suicide under police duress.

After a man named Montaze Slater was shot and killed in his vehicle, Mobile PD focused their search on Joseph Walker. When they pursued him, Prichard PD would later find Walker in a vehicle, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Tyler Welsh Jr., 30, of Girard was chased by Niles and Liberty police when they discovered that he had a warrant from another jurisdiction for aggravated robbery. He fled and Liberty officers joined Niles PD in the chase. Welsh drove to an empty home and fled inside with numerous officers after him. Police heard a single gunshot in the home and found Welsh dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On April 8, 2023, Dennis DiGenova Jr., a 73-year-old Navy veteran, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Marion County Jail. During the booking process, DiGenova became uncooperative and resisted deputies' instructions. Deputies Daniel Trammell and Joseph Spratlin, along with Sgt. Donald Buemi, restrained DiGenova by placing him in a prone position on the floor while applying pressure to his back and legs. After approximately 15 minutes, deputies noticed DiGenova was unresponsive and initiated life-saving measures. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be positional asphyxia. In April 2025, DiGenova's family filed a federal lawsuit against Sheriff Billy Woods and the involved deputies, alleging excessive use of force and failure to provide adequate medical care. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted an investigation into the incident, and the State Attorney's Office declined to file criminal charges against the deputies.
