George Bell, a 68-year-old third-party motorist was driving down the street on Powhatan Parkway in Hampton, VA when a police vehicle lost control, hit two unoccupied parked vehicles and then hit a house. George Bell was in the first vehicle that was hit by the officer. He died in the hospital 2 weeks later from injuries. It is not known how fast the officer was driving and why they may have been speeding.

Nashville PD responded to the 300 block of College Street on the evening of Saturday, July 1. Two officers approached what they felt was a “suspicious vehicle “parked in a parking lot near the city greenway on College Street with 2 occupants. One of the officers requested Devon Derantez Rutherford, 21, to step outside the vehicle. He exited, and an unknown fight ensued between the officer and Rutherford with police claiming that Rutherford pulled out a handgun. Both officers were able to kick the gun away from Rutherford but Rutherford then produced a second weapon, firing and striking one of the officers. The uninjured officer fired his service weapon, striking and killing Rutherford. The injured officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Ramon Martinez, 37, was a passenger in the vehicle and was believed to be forcing the woman to keep driving. Martinez eventually put the vehicle back in drive and tried to spin tires to get himself unstuck. Then Martinez allegedly began shooting at the SWAT team after chemical agents were deployed in the vehicle. He was shot and killed.

Police allege that they were driving patrol when Darryl Gamble fired at them twice from a semiautomatic weapon, hitting the patrol car. Darryl Gamble, 40, was to appear in court with an officer testifying against him. That same officer ended up being one of the shooters who killed him on Wednesday night before he could go to court. On 06/29/2023, Bohdan Vetrov, a 57 year old commercial truck driver and father of seven dependent children, was killed on Interstate 5 in Lakewood, Washington, after Lakewood police initiated and continued a vehicle pursuit that ended in a catastrophic collision with his semi truck.
According to reporting, Lakewood police were pursuing a passenger vehicle connected to an alleged robbery. Officers escalated the encounter into a high speed chase that entered Interstate 5 traffic. During the pursuit, the fleeing vehicle struck Vetrov’s 18 wheeler with significant force. Vetrov was killed as a direct result of the crash.
The driver and occupants of the pursued vehicle survived. Bohdan Vetrov, who was not involved in any police action and was lawfully operating his commercial vehicle, died at the scene.
