On 06/28/2023, Houston police responded to a domestic violence call involving a firearm at 7444 Canal Street. During the response, the 48-year-old man left the residence and went to a nearby convenience store on Navigation Boulevard. Officers located him there and attempted to make contact. During the confrontation with police, the man shot himself. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Houston police investigated the incident.

On 06/28/2023, Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies located a 42-year-old man on Jones Mill Road in La Vergne who was wanted on outstanding warrants. Deputies attempted to arrest him. During the confrontation with deputies, the man pulled a handgun and shot himself. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident.

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office stated that a 23-year-old armed man abducted a 7-month-old baby girl. He had been in a relationship with the baby’s mother. The North Baltimore Police Chief had initially responded to a domestic dispute and said the person was homicidal and suicidal, threatening the child’s life. The baby’s mother was tracking the person’s location through her phone and passing the information on. An off-duty officer saw the vehicle and police tried to pull them over but the person led officers on a chase. He eventually accelerated at a high speed and veered off the road, hitting a house on Sandusky Street at full-speed.
Authorities surrounded the vehicle and broke the back window to get the baby out. Police say the 7-month-old was bleeding and had shallow breathing. The person was extricated from the vehicle and both were taken to an area hospital for treatment. According to Tiffin Police, the infant died from her injuries. The man is in critical condition.

A motorcycle driver died in the hospital following a police chase that ended in a wreck in Wayne County. A Perry County deputy in the Richton area had tried to stop Henry Edward Pittman on MS-42 and initiated a traffic stop, but the motorcycle driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase. Pittman crashed at the intersection of Brewertown Road and Narvel Brewer Road in Wayne County. He died.

Pinal County deputies tried to arrest Daniel Barnes for alleged prior domestic violence incident earlier that day. He was driving an RV erratically and allegedly rammed an officer. He then barricaded himself inside of his home with a knife and handgun. He started a fire in the detached garage spread. Police shot and killed him.

The Ozark CountySheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a trespassing in Baxter County at a residence on State Highway 201 North. Minutes later, the sheriff’s office received a second call about a loud disturbance at the same residence with people shouting and arguing.
Baxter County deputies arrived on the scene at approximately 10:10 a.m. and saw a man leaving on a motorcycle. The motorcycle traveled down Baxter County Road 35, and the deputies escalated a chase. The motorcycle and one of the deputy’s vehicles collided. The motorcyclist died.

Anthony Overton was being chased by police and was driving his motorcycle in the 1000 block of Railroad Avenue at high speeds, ran into a car and died as a result.

Payton Wasson, 22, of Nampa was driving a “suspicious vehicle” according to police and held a gun. Police took up chase on foot. An officer fired his gun and Wasson died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Belinda Prim was a pedestrian near the corner of Septima P. Clark Parkway, more commonly called the Crosstown, and President Street, when she was hit by a police vehicle while crossing the street. Prim died as a result.

A car carrying five passengers “failed to stop” at the intersection of Allen Hill Road and Route 205, was chased and after running the light, the car struck a tree and rolled off the road and down a nearby embankment. Chenelle Edwards died in the crash.

A Saginaw County Sheriff’s deputy tried pulling over a vehicle after seeing a traffic offense near the intersection of Albany and Wilkins streets in Spaulding Township. Adrián Hernández, a third party motorist, was killed after being struck by a vehicledriven by a teen trying to flee police in a stolen car in a West Valley City residential area. Police had chased after a stolen car with several teenagers and threw down spike strips. When the driver hit the spike strips, he soon lost control and crashed and killed unrelated motorist Adrian Hernandez.

The Othello Police Department came to arrest 29-year-old Ramon O. Morfin of Warden, Washington, for alleged harassment. Morfin was also wanted on an outstanding state Department of Corrections warrant. An Othello police officer and 3 Adams County deputies went to his work place in the 700 block of South Kulm Road, Othello, Washington, to arrest him. The officer and deputies made contact with Morfin outside the business. During the attempted arrest, Morfin unexpectedly opened fire at the group of officers. They shot and killed him.

On 06/25/2023, Wichita PD found 44-year-old Nicole Dempsey dead by gunshot wounds. They believed her husband, 47-year-old Thomas Dempsey, to be responsible. Police arrested him and he died shortly thereafter from a medical emergency.

On 06/25/2023, 22-year-old Rodrigo Rivera Ramirez was being chased by Clackamas deputies until he crashed into a tree on Southwest Brown Road.The car quickly became engulfed in flames. He died.

A 2015 Dodge Avenger passenger car on State Highway 36 was being chased by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Two vehicles were on the side of the road, a disabled car and a pedestrian attempting to connect a tow chain between the two vehicles with the pedestrian lying under the front of the Buick when the fleeing vehicle being chased by policelost control of the vehicle and crashing into the Buick and the Mercury.
The pedestrian, Daniel Jerome Schafer, was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash. It is unknown why Hamilton County deputies conducted this fatal chase.

Albuquerque PD tried to arrest Mark Peter for felony warrants at Auto Zone shop on 98th St. NW. He then went over to El Mezquite Market, armed with a knife.Upon entering the store, Peter pulled out a gun and fired at police. Police shot and killed him.

Carl Gist shot his neighbor while she was cutting grass.He had previously shot his wife and her new friend. Gist then locked himself in his home. Police eventually fired gas into the residence. Gist allegedly came out pointing a pistol at police. Police shot and killed him.

On Sunday, June 25, 2023, a police chase caused a crash involving 5 vehicles near the intersection of Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast 147th Avenue. Jennifer Parise was killed.

The fleeing person was traveling west on Northeast Glisan Street when he rear-ended two cars, one unoccupied parked car and another car that was occupied by two people. A woman in that car died and the other occupant was injured. The car then veered into the eastbound lane and hit two additional occupied cars. Two occupants from one of those eastbound cars went on their own to an area hospital to be evaluated.

Police allege that Steven Brucker stole an item and fled to a nearby bus stop. He allegedly was uncooperative and pulled out a gun while continuing to walk away. He stopped at the entrance of a business at 1940 N. Boulder Hwy when he pointed the gun at his head. Police shot and killed him.

A Shelby county deputy approached Jarveon Hudspeth who initially cooperated, exited the car, held still for a pat-down but police never accused Hudspeth of anything. Hudspeth cooperated and reportedly even informed police that he had a legal gun in the car.

It is unknown why the situation changed to being threatening but Hudspeth retreated to his car based on the interaction with police and the officer lunged through the window into the car, landing on top of him as the car wobbled, moved with an officer on top of the driver of a moving vehicle. The officer eventually fell out of the vehicle and fired shots at Hudspeth, killing him. It is unknown why this initially civil traffic stop spiraled out of control to find an officer lunging at a driver in a moving vehicle. The killing was ruled Justified by the District Attorney.

Georgia State troopers sawa motorcyclist going 100 mph in a 70-mph zone on Interstate 75 in Cobb County, swerving “in and out of traffic” and driving in the emergency lane at an “extremely high rate of speed,” police said. A trooper lost control of their vehicle and struck a guardrail and then another car traveling southbound. Both vehicles went off the right side of the highway before coming to a stop. Other troopers continued to chase the motorcyclist but eventually lost sight of him and allegedly stopped the pursuit. One of the troopers took an exit onto a local road and found the motorcyclist crashed on the exit ramp after striking a vehicle in the shoulder. The unnamed motorcyclist was dead.

San Antonio PD were called to the Rosemont on Miller’s Pond Apartments on Old Pearsall Road because a woman was destroying a fire alarm. Nathaniel Taualai, 32, was shot and killed by Honolulu police on June 23, 2023, during a standoff on Kalauipo Street in Pearl City. Police said Taualai had broken into his ex-girlfriend’s home and refused to surrender. During the hours-long standoff, he allegedly had 2 knives and later took an unattended police rifle. Officers opened fire, hitting him four times. A report released two years later ruled the shooting justified as suicide by cop for unclear reasons despite police having shot him and there being no witness to confirm that he had been suicidal.

On 06/22/2023, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Florence Avenue and Eastern Avenue in Bell Gardens. During the encounter, deputies reported that a man rammed a patrol vehicle. Deputies opened fire and struck him. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died from gunshot wounds. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigated the shooting.

Marc Child, 37, was a San Francisco lawyer who was shot and killed by San Francisco police, was accused of killing his 76-year-old mom and her dog in their home. Officers responded to a home in the 700 block of 31st Avenue near Washington High School after 2:30 a.m. Authorities say as an officer was talking with an 84-year-old man at the doorway when the person armed with a knife advanced on both him and the officer. The officer shot and killed him. Inside the home, officers found a 76-year-old woman and a dog dead.

On 06/22/2023 at about 12:22 a.m., a San Pablo police officer saw a green 1997 Nissan Altima speeding on San Pablo Dam Road. The driver failed to yield to a traffic stop. San Pablo PD escalated a chase to 90 miles per hour. After about 0.7 miles and 30 seconds, the officer claims to have terminated the pursuit. Soon, the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office notified San Pablo police about a rollover collision involving the Nissan in the 5000 block of Appian Way. A 29-year-old unnamed man had died as a result of the police chase crash.

Shortly before 5 p.m. on 06/22/2023, an off-duty New Jersey State Police officer in an unmarked vehicle began chasing an individual on a motorcycle in Springfield. Police escalated the chase to greater 100 miles per hour until the motorcyclist collided with a third-party vehicle near the intersection of Route 206 and Jacksonville-JobstownRoad. The unnamed 24-year-old male motorcyclist was killed as a result of the police chase crash.It is unknown whether the deceased motorcyclist knew the unmarked car was a police officer hunting them.

Officers attempted to contact a man involved in the incident, who then left the residence, leading police on a pursuit that ended back in the neighborhood. Officers established a perimeter and SWAT responded. After several hours of negotiation during the standoff, the man shot himself. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police later confirmed the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute.
