On February 22, 2021, a McDowell County sheriff’s deputy initiated a vehicle stop on Randolph Road in Nebo, North Carolina. During the stop, gunfire was exchanged between the deputy and the occupants of the vehicle for unknown reasons. Carlton James "C.J." Adams, 30, was fatally shot in the exchange. Another occupant, David Steven Hylemon, 39, was injured. The circumstances leading to the gunfire remain under investigation by the McDowell County Sheriff's Office.

On 02/21/2021, Michigan State Police troopers responded to a call regarding an armed individual exhibiting irrational behavior in the 9700 block of North Wyman Road, Blancha Road. Andrew Allen Courser was reported to have fired a gun near homes and yelled at passing vehicles. Upon arrival, along with a Home Township police officer, Courser allegedly shot at the officers, who returned fire. Courser then barricaded himself in a barn approximately a quarter of a mile away from the initial scene. After a standoff lasting about four hours, Courser emerged from the barn, pointing a gun at the police. Troopers then shot and killed him. The incident is under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

Daniel Newton Neal, who had an active warrant for robbery, attempted to evade police. During the chase, he allegedly rammed an undercover police vehicle, exited his car, and fled into a nearby restaurant. On February 20, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Villa Hills Police Department officers Sean Dooley and Jacob Bolton conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 75 near Erlanger, Kentucky, for a speeding violation. Randall Lee Lockaby, a 57-year-old man, exited his vehicle and produced a gun. Both officers opened fire, killing him. The Kentucky State Police investigated and justified the shooting. In February 2022, Lockaby's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Villa Hills Police Department and the involved officers, alleging excessive force and constitutional violations.

On February 19, 2021, Catasauqua Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving Ryan Daniel Shirey and his ex-girlfriend at a residence on the 100 block of South 14th Street. Upon arrival, Shirey fled into the basement and retrieved a revolver. Officers followed him and ordered him to drop the weapon. When Shirey did not comply, Officer Joelle Mota discharged his firearm, fatally striking Shirey. He was pronounced dead at the scene. On February 18, 2021, Dallas police officers responded to a domestic violence call at a residence in the 5300 block of Bonita Avenue. Upon arrival around 11 a.m., they were met with gunfire from Sergio Sanchez, 57, who shot and wounded two officers in the legs. A SWAT team was deployed, and upon entering the home around 1:30 p.m., they found Sanchez and his wife, 31-year-old April Sanchez, deceased from gunshot wounds. Authorities reported that Sergio Sanchez had an extensive violent criminal history and did not want to return to prison after shooting his wife.

On 02/17/2021, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a reported altercation on Albert Magee Road in Mount Hermon, Louisiana. Deputies encountered Dustin A. On February 17, 2021, deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office attempted to arrest 28-year-old James Edward Coe for outstanding warrants. Deputies observed Coe and another individual leaving a residence in Salisbury and getting into a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

The deputies, looking for a reason to stop him, stated that Coe had brake light and tag violations. This explanation was used to escalate a high-speed chase that continued until the I-85 southbound ramp near Julian Road. Coe reportedly exited the vehicle and fired a long gun, striking a police vehicle. Deputies returned fire as Coe fled into a wooded area, allegedly continuing to shoot at pursuing officers.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, Salisbury Police Department, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol, responded and established a perimeter. Coe was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

On February 17, 2021, around 8:40 p.m., two Houston police officers saw a black pickup truck speeding and followed it to a parking lot next to a taco truck on Little York Road. The driver exited the vehicle, pulled out a pistol, and robbed the taco truck. Both officers ordered him to drop the weapon. When he did not comply, both officers opened fire and killed him.

On February 16, 2021, around 9:20 p.m., Port of Seattle officers contacted the Seattle Police Department regarding Derek J. Hayden, a man in mental health crisis with a kitchen knife. When officers arrived, Hayden fled down Alaskan Way. PSPD officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by following Hayden. On February 14, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., off-duty Corbin Police Department Sgt. Stephen Meadors was contacted at his residence on Dogwood Cove in Corbin, Kentucky, by a neighbor reporting a prowler. Sgt. Meadors went outside and encountered 19-year-old Phillip N. Davenport. An altercation ensued, during which Sgt. Meadors opened fire, killing Davenport. Davenport was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, where he was pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner. The Kentucky State Police investigated the incident. On February 11, 2021, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a domestic dispute at the Harvest Moon Trailer Park in Woodward Township, where 38-year-old Clifford E. On February 11, 2021, Alexis Leigh Davis-Gooden, 35, was initially stopped by a Menands Police Department officer on Broadway in Menands, New York. On February 11, 2021, Brian D. Ellis, a 44-year-old man who was on felony warrants, was located by police in the parking lot of Walmart at 120 Sam Walton Drive in Russellville, Kentucky. Ellis was driving a 2020 Kia, with police claiming that he drove it toward them. Officers opened fire, killing him. Ellis succumbed to his injuries on February 12, 2021, in the hospital.

Manuel Fernandez, 28, who was wanted on allegations of sexual battery and domestic violence, barricaded himself inside a condo on South Semoran Boulevard near Dixie Bell Drive in Orlando, Florida. After a tense six-hour standoff with the Orlando Police Department, Fernandez died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On February 11, 2021, Houston Police Department officers responded to a criminal mischief call at an apartment complex near Airline Drive and Goodson Drive. A woman reported that her brother, Edwin Adan Velasquez, 20, was inside her home with a weapon and causing damage. Upon arrival, officers knocked on the door, which was partially open. As they pushed the door further, Velasquez appeared in the doorway and pointed a gun at them. Officers D. Shurtleff and D. Coppola opened fire, striking Velasquez multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 10, 2021, at approximately 4 p.m., Spartanburg County deputies initiated a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop. Police escalated a pursuit that was described as reckless with excessive speed through heavy traffic and proximity to a school zone. The deputy finally called off the chase near Paradise Lane moments before a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper spotted the vehicle near East Blackstock Road and Hidden Hill Road and took over the chase. The trooper allegedly also called off the chase again as the vehicle collided with a 2015 Honda Accord driven by 36-year-old bystander Jessica Ruth Munyon near the intersection of East Blackstock Road and Bradford Drive.

On February 10, 2021, around 5:20 p.m., Austin police responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a home in the 2900 block of Rogge Lane. Shortly after, a 911 call reported a break-in at another residence on the same street. Upon arrival, officers heard a disturbance inside and forced entry at approximately 5:30 p.m. They encountered Jordan Walton, 21, who exchanged gunfire with the officers before barricading himself inside, holding a woman and her 10-year-old son hostage. At 6:17 p.m., Walton emerged with the boy, using him as a shield. Officers Ryan Nichols and Jeffrey Hutchison fired, killing Walton.

On February 10, 2021, shortly after 10:00 a.m., East Cleveland police responded to a domestic incident near Hayden Avenue and Bryn Mawr Road. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, Cortez Lee Bogan, 27, was causing a disturbance and possibly armed. Upon arrival, officers found Bogan attempting to enter the woman's vehicle. The woman alerted officers that Bogan had a gun. An officer observed the butt of a firearm protruding from Bogan's security vest and attempted to seize it. During the ensuing struggle, Boganallegedly reached for the weapon. Officers opened fire and killed him.

On February 9, 2021, around 7 p.m., the Upper Perkiomen Police Department responded to a 911 call from a family member reporting that Trey Bartholomew was in a state of agitation and had left the home carrying a sword. An officer encountered Bartholomew at East Eighth Street and Long Alley. When Bartholomew allegedly threatened the officer with the sword and refused to comply with commands to drop it, the officer shot and killed him.
