On 06/25/2022, Oakland police officers Jimmy Marin-Coronel and Walid Abdelaziz initiated an unauthorized high-speed pursuit of a vehicle suspected of involvement in a sideshow on International Boulevard. The officers did not activate their lights or sirens and failed to notify dispatch, in violation of department policy. The chase reached speeds up to 100 mph and ended when the fleeing teenage driver lost control and crashed into a group of people and vehicles near a taco truck. Lolomanaia “Lolo” Soakai was killed, his mother suffered a broken back, and other family members were severely injured. The officers reportedly witnessed the crash but did not stop to render aid, returning later and pretending to have just arrived. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the officers are not entitled to qualified immunity, allowing the family's lawsuit to proceed.

During the stop, the 21-year-old Latino driver exited the vehicle and engaged physically with the deputy. The deputy fired his weapon during the struggle, striking the driver. Emergency medical personnel transported the man to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The deputy sustained injuries during the encounter and was treated and released. The Texas Rangers led the investigation in coordination with the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office.

The pursuit ended near the 700 block of Clutter Road where White exited his vehicle while holding a firearm. Officers issued commands and established a perimeter. During the standoff, White shot himself. He was transported for medical treatment and later pronounced dead. Indiana State Police reported that no officers fired their weapons.

Officers made contact and the subject, later identified as 36-year-old Michael Green (also known as Michael Edwards), barricaded himself inside an apartment and made suicidal threats during the encounter. SWAT and crisis negotiation teams spent more than five hours attempting to get Green to surrender. When officers entered the apartment at approximately 7:24 p.m., they found Green deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police did not fire their weapons during the incident. Green had been wanted out of Albany County, New York after fleeing before the verdict was read in his attempted murder and weapons conviction. The incident was reviewed by law enforcement and reported as a fugitive standoff with suicide.

Franklin Police attempted to pull over 18-year-old Demarcus King, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, for going 80 mph in a 60 mph zone. He did not stop and police escalated a high-speed chase from Franklin down Highway 79 to Highway 6 south of Hearne where speeds reached up to 115-120 mph.
