On 02/05/2021, Stratford police officers assisted Naugatuck police in attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Christopher Hagans related to a home invasion and strangulation case. Police believed Hagans was armed. As officers arrived in the area, Hagans drove away and was followed by police in marked and unmarked vehicles. The encounter culminated at a traffic light near Main Street and Cutspring Road, where police attempted to stop his vehicle by positioning a cruiser in front of him. Officers ordered Hagans to show his hands. Police reported that his vehicle moved forward and struck the cruiser. Officers opened fire on the vehicle, which became immobilized in snow. Hagans exited the vehicle, and police shot and killed him at the scene. The Connecticut Inspector General later ruled the shooting justified.

On February 5, 2021, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Trotwood Police officers responded to a theft report at the Speedway convenience store located at 5000 Olive Road where Andrew Hogan, 25, had allegedly stolen a 2-liter non-alcoholic beverage and was observed walking towards a nearby apartment complex.

Officers located Hogan near the Kensington apartment complex, where he reportedly refused commands. Police engaged him in an altercation, deployed a Taser, pepper spray, and a baton, but Hogan ran into an apartment in the 700 block of Kelford Place.

On February 4, 2021, around 7:41 p.m., deputies from the Clark County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Northeast 68th and Northeast 2nd Avenue in Hazel Dell, Washington. During the traffic stop, one of the deputies shot Jenoah Donald (also known as Donald D. Jonah). Donald was transported to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition. On February 2, 2021, a man drove away from police after allegedly attempting to burglarize a home. The chase, involving several law enforcement agencies, concluded near the intersection of 13th Street and 30th Avenue in Meridian. The man, reportedly armed with a knife, allegedly attacked an officer. Police shot and killed him.

David Lee Huber, 55, was wanted in a child pornography case. When FBI agents arrived to execute a search warrant at his apartment located at 10000 Reflections Boulevard West in Sunrise, Florida, Huber opened fire, killing two agents, Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger, and wounding three others. Huber reportedly shot and killed himself during the incident.

On February 1, 2021, around noon, Albuquerque Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex. Officers pursued a man from the incident in a high-speed chase through the city. The pursuit ended near Virginia Street NE and Lomas Boulevard NE in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The individual reportedly shot and killed himself at the conclusion of the chase.

In February 2021, 43-year-old Lakisel Thomas was struck and killed while crossing the street to pick up lunch for her son when a fleeing vehicle ran a red light and hit her. Chicago Police had attempted a traffic stop for an improperly displayed registration. The driver, Isaac Wade, 20, was chased by police at 80 mph and ran multiple lights before striking another vehicle and hitting Thomas in the 7400 block of South Racine Avenue. She died shortly after at St. Bernard Hospital. The pursuit violated department policy, and in January 2025, the city proposed a $4.5 million settlement to her estate.

On March 1, 2025, 22-year-old Messiah Nantwi died at Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy, New York, following multiple assaults by correctional officers. An emergency response team, including Officers Jonah Levi and Caleb Blair, responded to an incident in Nantwi's cell. Despite Nantwi having his hands raised and being unarmed, officers began beating him with fists, boots, and batons. The beating continued as he was moved to the infirmary, including additional beatings in a stairwell and a holding cell. Nantwi died from massive head trauma and 79 other injuries. Ten officers have been indicted in April of 2025, with charges ranging from second-degree murder to conspiracy and evidence tampering. The incident occurred during a statewide correctional officers' strike, with National Guard troops deployed to maintain prison operations.

On February 1, 2021, 34-year-old Andrew Scott Kislek followed his estranged wife to the Tucson Veterans Affairs Medical Center and rammed her vehicle before firing several shots into it. He fled the scene and was later stopped by Tucson Police near West Ajo Way and South 6th Avenue. During the stop in the Circle K parking lot, a confrontation occurred, and Officer Alexis Lujan opened fire, killing Kislek. The case was investigated by the Tucson Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards and the Pima County Attorney’s Office.

On 02/01/2021, 23-year-old Sandra Birchmore was found dead in her apartment on Washington Street in Canton. Investigators initially ruled her death a suicide, but federal prosecutors later determined she was strangled by former Stoughton Police Department officer Matthew Farwell, who then staged the scene to look like a suicide. Birchmore had been sexually exploited by Farwell since she was a teenager and was pregnant with his child at the time of her death. Farwell has been federally indicted for her murder and obstruction of justice and remains in custody awaiting trial.

About 5 p.m., someone called 911 after noticing an unconscious man in the driver's seat of a vehicle stopped in the road. The driver, identified as Richard Fenton Thomas, woke up when deputies arrived. During the ensuing confrontation, deputies shot and killed him. Details as to what precipitated the killing were withheld by police.

On February 1, 2021, around 8:30 p.m., police responded to a call reporting that a man had broken into a home in Hayward and held the caller hostage. The hostage managed to escape and contacted the police. Authorities arrived at the scene and attempted to get the man, Terry L. Carson, to come out. Carson refused to comply, and a long standoff ensued. After a period of silence, police used a robot with a camera to check on Carson and discovered that he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On February 1, 2021, around 6:45 p.m., Snyder Police Department officers and Scurry County Sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance at the Rip Griffin Travel Center truck stop located at 1100 US-180 in Snyder, Texas. Upon arrival, they encountered 57-year-old Kevin Hayes of Arkansas, who was armed with a firearm. Officers instructed Hayes to drop his weapon; however, he reportedly opened fire on the officers. In response, the officers returned fire, fatally wounding Hayes.

On 01/31/2021, Bledsoe County sheriff’s deputies went to a residence on Brockdell Road in Pikeville to serve multiple warrants on Chad William Songer, including a warrant related to a probation violation. According to authorities, during the attempt to take Songer into custody, a police dog was deployed. Police stated that Songer moved toward deputies while holding an object described as a weighted exercise ball and threw it during the encounter. Songer was mauled and fatally injured during the incident. Family members stated that the police dog caused his death. The officers were cleared.

On January 31, 2021, deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a fight involving gunfire in the 1000 block of Atrisco Road SW in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Deputies, who were in the vicinity at the time, encountered a man, later identified as 41-year-old Ezekial Meza, while en route to the scene. Meza reportedly attempted to flee, leading to a confrontation during which deputies opened fire and killed him.

On 01/31/2021, California Highway Patrol officers were responding to a traffic collision along Interstate 80 near Dixon Avenue. According to authorities, officers observed a vehicle stopped on the shoulder with a damaged rear window and attempted to speak with the driver, identified as Karl Walker. Police reported that during the interaction, Walker produced a firearm and threatened an officer. Officers opened fire and Walker was shot and killed at the scene. The shooting was placed under investigation, and no criminal charges against officers were announced at the time of reporting.

On January 31, 2021, Carmel Police Department officers responded to a disturbance at 441 W Main Street in Carmel, Indiana. A person, later identified as Keith Scales, 60, had reportedly threatened suicide and was firing shots from inside a residence shortly before noon. Upon arrival, officers observed gunfire coming from the home's windows and doors and began evacuating nearby residents. During the incident, Scales shot at several vehicles, including a police vehicle. When Scales allegedly raised a high-powered rifle toward the officers, they shot and killed him.
