During the altercation, Gray reportedly tried to take a deputy's firearm, resulting in the weapon discharging. Deputies deployed a taser in an effort to subdue Gray but were unsuccessful. The confrontation escalated, and at least one deputy opened fire, fatally shooting Gray.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating the incident. The findings will be reviewed by the District Attorney's Office to determine the appropriateness of the deputies' actions.

Officers then observed smoke emanating from an area near Phillipi Road and Fisher Road. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle overturned and engulfed in flames. Suydam was inside the vehicle, armed with a long-barreled shotgun. As the fire intensified, ammunition inside the vehicle began to explode, preventing officers from safely approaching. Once the fire was extinguished, Suydam was found deceased inside the vehicle.

Caleb McCree, 43, was confronted by officers during a disturbance call at 61104 Airport Road in Slidell, Louisiana. Officers engaged McCree in an altercation, during which they opened fire and killed him. Police did not disclose whether McCree was armed. On January 24, 2021, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Alexandria Police Department Officer Zachary Taylor was on duty, driving a marked police vehicle southbound on State Road 9 in Alexandria, Indiana. During this time, Officer Taylor struck Dylan Kelly Stinson, 22, who was on a skateboard. Stinson sustained fatal injuries from the collision.

At approximately 2 a.m. on January 24, 2021, Wichita County Sheriff's deputies observed a silver sedan stopped at an intersection. The driver, later identified as 38-year-old Tyree Kajawn Rogers, began yelling obscenities at the deputies before driving away. Deputies pursued the erratically driven vehicle, which exited onto Fisher Road and spun out of control. Four police vehicles boxed in the sedan, and when Rogers allegedly drove toward the deputies, they opened fire, killing him. The vehicle then struck a guardrail and came to a stop. A female passenger reportedly informed deputies that Rogers had shot and kidnapped her.

On 01/22/2021, Indio Police Department officers responded to reports of a man acting erratically near Cardenas Market on Highway 111 in Indio, California. The individual, identified as 41-year-old Jose Albert Lizarraga Garcia, was observed entering and exiting multiple stores, throwing items, and behaving disruptively. Upon contact, Garcia was physically restrained by several officers. During the restraint, Garcia repeatedly stated, "I can't breathe." A mesh spit hood was placed over his head. Shortly thereafter, Garcia became unresponsive and died while prone and restrained, his head inside of a spit hood.

On 01/22/2021, deputies from the Alexander County Sheriff's Office initiated a high-speed pursuit of a 2011 Ford Fusion for a traffic violation in East Cape, Illinois. The vehicle, occupied by four individuals from Missouri, fled and eventually crashed into a house at 328 Oak Street in Mounds, Illinois, killing the driver, Marquan Reed. The other passengers sustained varying injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
