Deputies located him near Hollywood Boulevard and Interstate 95. Police escalated a pursuit that ended near the Tri-Rail station on Southwest 21st Street in Fort Lauderdale. Deputies hit him with a PIT maneuver. They then opened fire on him inside the car, killing him, stating an unknown perceived threat. Drangel was pronounced dead at the site of the shooting.

On 12/14/2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Selmer Police Department officers responded to a report of a suspicious person attempting to force entry into a residence in a Selmer, Tennessee neighborhood. Upon arrival, they encountered 39-year-old Daniel Holmes, who allegedly fired multiple rounds at the front door of a home before fleeing the scene. Officers, including Officer Rick Finley, located Holmes on a nearby street. Holmes reportedly opened fire on the officers, fatally shooting Officer Finley. Lieutenant Ron Pilkington arrived shortly thereafter and returned fire, fatally striking Holmes. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation into the incident.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead. His brother alleged that he was hit and dragged by a police vehicle while at work as a bicycle messenger, and that the officer fled the scene and left him lying in the street. The incident is under active investigation by the San Francisco Police Department.

On 12/14/2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. The driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase during which the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree on U.S. Highway 301 near Bass Drive in Santee. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
