At approximately 8:17 p.m., a 21-year-old male passenger exited the vehicle near 18th Street Expressway and Steele Avenue and was taken into custody. The driver, identified as 41-year-old Jason A. Burk of Kansas City, Missouri, continued fleeing. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, causing the GMC to strike a guardrail near Highway 69 and the 18th Street Expressway, bringing it to a stop.

On May 26, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers patrolling the Westport Entertainment District heard gunfire near the intersection of Westport Road and Broadway Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple shooting victims. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported six individuals to local hospitals, including 24-year-old Jahquan M. Robinson, who was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a disturbance among a group escalated into gunfire. A Westport Public Safety Security officer, responding to the shots, encountered Robinson actively firing a weapon. The security officer discharged their firearm, striking Robinson.

The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the incident.

Deanna D’Arco, a 19-year-old from Sussex Borough, New Jersey, was killed following a car collision involving an on-duty Franklin Borough Police Sergeant William Grissom. The incident occurred on May 27, 2024, near the intersection of Route 23 and Walsh Street. D’Arco was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with the police officer's marked car. She sustained critical injuries and passed away two days later on May 29, 2024.
