On 05/16/2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire inside the Las Vegas Athletic Club located at 1725 N. Rainbow Blvd. Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed man exiting the facility. Officers opened fire, striking the individual. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.Inside the gym, officers discovered one deceased individual and multiple injured victims. Three individuals were transported to local hospitals, with one reported in critical condition. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.

On 05/11/2025, Natchez Police Department officers attempted to serve a felony warrant for attempted murder on Phillip Stokes Jr., who was wanted in connection with a shooting that injured a woman on Lafayette Street on 05/09/2025.Upon locating Stokes near the old Natchez Visitor Center on South Canal Road, officers approached his vehicle and instructed him to exit. Stokes exited the vehicle and opened fire on the officers. Officers opened fire, critically injuring Stokes. He was transported to Merit Health Natchez and later transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he was pronounced dead on 05/16/2025. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation into the shooting.

On 05/16/2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a Michigan State Police trooper from the Metro South Post conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and the Lodge Freeway (M-10) in Detroit. On May 16, 2025, Lumpkin County deputies responded to a report of a person in the Publix parking lot. Upon arrival, deputies observed a vehicle behaving erratically. As they approached, the driver, identified as 36-year-old Jacob Karl Wilkerson of Buford, drove away. Deputies escalated a chase, intercepted the vehicle, and took Wilkerson into custody shortly thereafter. Emergency Medical Services were called, and Wilkerson was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The exact cause of death remains unclear and is under investigation.

On May 16, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a San Diego Police Department officer attempted to stop a gray Mercedes-Benz C230 near 100 29th Street. The 52-year-old male driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit. The vehicle proceeded north on 32nd Street and attempted a right turn onto eastbound J Street, where it lost control and collided with a retaining wall at the northeast corner of the intersection. The driver sustained a fractured femur and was transported to a local hospital. The front-seat passenger, a 52-year-old male, was also taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The SDPD’s Traffic Division is investigating the incident, and driving under the influence is suspected as a contributing factor.

On May 16, 2025, Houston police responded to a robbery in progress at a store on Almeda Road. The suspect, 33-year-old Earnest Harrison, allegedly stole merchandise and threatened employees with a large knife. Officers located Harrison near the Southmore bridge and issued verbal commands. Harrison advanced toward Officer L. Jumonji with a machete, prompting the officer to fire her weapon, striking him once. Harrison was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition and died on May 20, 2025. Officer Jumonji was not injured. The incident is under investigation by HPD's Special Investigations Unit, Internal Affairs Division, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
