A trooper from the Florida Highway Patrol allegedly clocked a vehicle at 111 mph on a highway near Tampa. When the trooper attempted to pull over the driver, Jennifer Carvajal, she made a hard right turn, sending the Hyundai Elantra down an embankment. The vehicle went airborne, hitting a concrete light pole and a palm tree. Pedro Carbajal, 22, was killed in the crash. Carvajal, 24, was arrested, and other occupants were injured.

On April 24, 2021, officers with the Gary Police Department pursued a stolen U-Haul truck following a stolen vehicle alert in the area. The pursuit ended when the U-Haul collided with an SUV at 6th Avenue near Colfax Street, struck a utility pole, and rolled over. The male driver of the U-Haul was pronounced dead at the scene. One person in the SUV was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash caused power outages in the area as crews responded to repair downed utility lines. The Gary Police Department is investigating the incident.

On 04/24/2021, Los Angeles police shot and killed 34 year old Richard Solitro following a traffic-related encounter near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Police stated that Solitro cut off a patrol vehicle, then reversed his car and struck the patrol vehicle. Solitro exited his vehicle. Officers opened fire and killed Solitro at the scene.

On 04/24/2021, Metro Nashville police shot and killed 32 year old Marvin Veiga during a traffic stop on Clarksville Pike in the Bordeaux area of Nashville. Officer Christopher Royer initiated the stop after running a license plate check. Police stated that the driver remained in the vehicle and cooperated with the stop.
During the encounter, Veiga exited the vehicle from the passenger side while holding two butcher knives. Officer Royer backed away while issuing commands. As Veiga continued moving toward the officer while holding the knives, Royer opened fire, striking Veiga three times. Veiga died at the scene.

On April 23, 2021, around 5:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of a crash with personal injury in the 1000 block of South Shadeland Avenue in Warren Park, Indiana. An off-duty Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officer was involved in the incident. The driver refused to stop and accelerated through city streets, initiating a pursuit. During the chase, the driver rammed at least three patrol cars, prompting officers to open fire at the intersection of South Grove Avenue and East Philadelphia Street. The man was struck and killed at the scene. A female passenger in the vehicle was detained on an unrelated warrant. No officers were injured. The incident began in the late afternoon after McClure barricaded himself inside a residence on Ridgewood Lane South. Law enforcement initiated a standoff that lasted approximately nine hours.Deputies arrived at the scene following reports of an armed individual threatening others. McClure refused to exit the residence or surrender, prompting the deployment of the Yellowstone County SWAT team.
A tactical robot was deployed and multiple drones equipped with thermal imaging and cameras were deployed. SWAT officers fired tear gas and other chemical irritants into the residence to encourage McClure to exit and to limit his ability to maneuver within the house.At approximately 11:00 p.m., SWAT officers breached the residence using a combination of ballistic shields, breaching tools, and tactical flashbangs to disorient McClure. Upon reaching the attic, they encountered McClure, who reportedly charged at officers while attempting to flee.Police engaged in a shootout with him and killed him.

On 04/23/2021, Casa Grande police shot and killed 52 year old Edward Robbesom near the intersection of West McMurray Boulevard and North French Street. Police responded to reports of a shooting and arrived to find Robbesom standing while holding a gun, with a woman on the ground nearby in distress. Officers issued commands for Robbesom to drop the gun. Officer Curtis Kieser opened fire and killed Robbesom at the scene.

On 04/22/2021, Colorado Springs police shot and killed 37 year old Richard Quintana during an encounter near a Phillips 66 gas station on West Garden of the Gods Road. Officers located a vehicle without a license plate and attempted to make contact with the driver, who remained inside the vehicle. The vehicle became disabled after striking a curb, and Quintana exited while holding an AR-15 style rifle.
Quintana placed the rifle under his chin and walked across the gas station parking lot. As he moved toward another person at the gas pumps, an officer attempted to deploy a Taser. A Colorado Springs police officer then opened fire, killing Quintana at the scene.
The El Paso County District Attorney reviewed the shooting and ruled the use of deadly force justified. No officers were charged.
