Kansas City police responded around 7:50 p.m. to a domestic disturbance call involving a weapon in the 5700 block of St. John Avenue. Officers were told a potentially armed man was inside a vehicle outside a residence. When officers approached the vehicle, Alejandro Landen-Ramirez, 35, fled toward the front porch of a nearby home. Police said he opened fire on officers from the porch. Officers opened fire, striking and killing him. A handgun was recovered. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation.

On 04/25/2026, an Illinois State Police trooper driving a patrol vehicle struck and killed Charles Henderson-Benson near S 6th Street and Linton Street in Springfield. Police said Henderson-Benson was in the roadway when the patrol vehicle hit him shortly before midnight. Reporting stated he may have been bent down in the roadway at the time of the collision. He was pronounced dead after the crash. The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation and the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident.

On 04/25/2026, an Atlanta Police Department officer attempted a traffic stop on a white Infiniti Q50 in the 800 block of Boulevard SE in Atlanta. Police activated emergency equipment and chased the vehicle as it continued driving north at a high rate of speed. During the pursuit, the driver lost control while traveling over a raised pedestrian crossing, left the roadway, and crashed into a utility pole. The vehicle caught fire after the impact. Timothy Favors, 19, a passenger in the vehicle, was removed from the car and later died at a hospital. The driver, Vincent Steele, was ejected and survived with serious injuries. Authorities said the vehicle was suspected to be involved in vehicle break-ins.

On 04/25/2026, Denver police served a warrant at the Parliament Apartments at 4363 South Quebec Street. During the encounter, police said Jordan Miller fired shots toward officers. Officers opened fire and critically injured Miller. He was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. On 04/24/2026, a trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation on U.S. Highway 51 north of County Road A near Tomahawk. Police said the driver, later identified as 36 year old Wade B. Johnson of Minocqua, initially stopped but then drove away as the trooper approached the vehicle. Authorities said Johnson traveled about a quarter mile before his vehicle entered a ditch and came to a stop. During the incident, Johnson suffered an apparent self inflicted fatal injury and died before deputies reached the vehicle. Deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Tomahawk Police Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the incident.

The driver of the Volvo was pronounced dead at the scene. The bystander driver of the other vehicle that was hit also died later. The crash involved a second vehicle, and police are investigating the incident.

On 04/24/2026, Dodge City Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle. The driver did not stop. Police chased the vehicle, and the pursuit continued until it left the roadway and ended in a field near US-50 and 105 Road. After the vehicle stopped, the man exited or remained at the scene with a gun. Under unclear circumstances following the pursuit, he shot himself. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound.
