Police responded to a 911 call from a residence on Mason Street reporting that a man had injured himself with a knife. Officers arrived and removed other occupants from the home. Colin Barthelemy exited the residence and approached officers while holding a knife. Officers attempted to use less-lethal force, but it was ineffective. An officer then opened fire, striking him. On 04/20/2026, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 85. During the stop, police reported Austin Derrell Robertson had a gun and opened fire.
A deputy was shot and injured during the exchange. Deputies returned fire and shot Robertson. He died from his injuries.
Authorities transported the injured deputy to a hospital for treatment. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.

On 04/19/2026 at approximately 4:35 p.m., Milher Moreno Lopez was riding as the front-seat passenger in a 2003 Toyota Corolla driven by his brother, Darvelio Moreno Lopez, 20, near the intersection of State Route 17 and Stratford Road in Moses Lake. As the Toyota attempted to turn from northbound State Route 17 onto Stratford Road, it struck a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Savana R. Oliphant, 19, of Moses Lake. The impact forced the Jeep off the roadway, where it struck a light pole and rolled into a ditch. Oliphant sustained injuries and was transported to Samaritan Hospital. Instead of stopping as required by law, Darvelio continued driving away from the collision, resulting in the incident being investigated as a felony hit-and-run.
Grant County Sheriff's Office deputies located the Toyota approximately 30 minutes later and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Darvelio continued driving away while deputies pursued eastbound from the Moses Lake area. The pursuit followed Wheeler Road, which becomes Road 3 Northeast, and continued for approximately nine miles through rural Grant County. Investigators reported that the Toyota reached high speeds as deputies attempted to stop it.
As the pursuit approached the intersection of Road 3 Northeast and Road U Northeast, Darvelio crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound 2005 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Nevin J. Anderson, 24, of Warden. The force of the collision destroyed the Toyota and caused catastrophic damage to both vehicles. Darvelio and Milher suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Anderson survived the collision and was transported to Samaritan Hospital with injuries. Investigators reported that he had been wearing a seat belt. Authorities were unable to immediately determine whether either occupant of the Toyota had been restrained.

On 04/19/2026, officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to reports of multiple shootings at residences on West 79th Street and Harrison Street. Police determined that a man shot multiple victims at two locations during a domestic incident. Eight children between the ages of 3 and 11 were killed. Two adult women were also shot and injured. Police identified the man as Shamar Elkins. After the shootings, he carjacked a vehicle and fled the area. Police chased him into Bossier City, where officers opened fire and killed him. Authorities stated the incident was domestic in nature and involved family members.

Dive teams later recovered Jerome Turner, 32, and Kelby Broward Richardson, 31, from the submerged vehicle. Both men were pronounced dead.
Police arrested Anthony Davis, 26, after he escaped from the vehicle and reached shore. Authorities charged Davis with robbery by sudden snatching with a firearm or weapon and resisting an officer without violence. Investigators stated excessive speed contributed to the crash.

On 04/18/2026, deputies with the Izard County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call on Sylamore Vista Lane involving a man making threats while holding a knife and a hammer. Deputies from Izard and Stone counties located David Douglas at the residence. During the encounter, Douglas confronted a deputy and refused to comply with commands. A deputy fired and struck him. He was pronounced dead. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an independent investigation.
