Police reported he had a gun and did not comply with commands. Officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital where he died. On 04/12/2026 at approximately 7:39 p.m., officers with the Christiansburg Police Department responded to the 300 block of Miller Street SE after receiving a report of a domestic dispute. Officers attempted to contact the man inside the residence, later identified as Eric H. Compton, 53. During the initial contact, Compton displayed a handgun, prompting officers to withdraw from the residence, establish a perimeter, and begin negotiations.
During the standoff, Compton exited the residence while armed. Officers attempted to negotiate and de-escalate the encounter, but Compton returned inside the home. A short time later, he exited the residence again while still carrying the handgun and advanced toward the officers. Before resorting to deadly force, officers deployed less-lethal beanbag rounds in an attempt to take him into custody. Police reported that Compton then drew his handgun, and officers fired their service weapons.
Officers immediately rendered first aid after the shooting and requested emergency medical assistance. Despite lifesaving efforts, Compton died at the scene. No officers were reported injured during the incident. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Christiansburg EMS assisted at the scene.

On 04/10/2026 at approximately 7:45 p.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to the area of South Park Avenue and East 36th Street after multiple 911 callers reported that a man armed with a knife was acting erratically, appearing paranoid, and frightening people in the area. Officers located the man, later identified as Luis Francisco Torres, 65, holding a knife.
Officers repeatedly ordered Torres to drop the knife. According to the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team investigation, Torres refused the commands. Officers attempted to resolve the encounter without deadly force by deploying pepper-ball rounds and a Taser, but those efforts were unsuccessful. Torres eventually fell into a seated position against a fence with the knife in his lap.
As officers moved closer to take him into custody, investigators reported that Torres picked the knife back up. Officer Reyna Flores, a four-year veteran of the Tucson Police Department, fired his service weapon, striking Torres. Officers immediately rendered medical aid until Tucson Fire Department personnel arrived. Torres was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The Pima Regional Critical Incident Team (PRCIT) was activated to conduct the criminal investigation, with the Oro Valley Police Department serving as the lead investigative agency. On 04/09/2026, officers with the Chippewa Falls Police Department responded to a report of a wanted person at a hotel in the 1000 block of West Park Avenue. An officer made contact with individuals in a vehicle, and one man exited and ran. The officer chased him on foot. During the pursuit, police said the man had what they believed to be a handgun. The officer fired and struck him. Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead. Authorities later stated the object was a Daisy Model 5501 CO2 BB pistol.

David Morales opened fire on deputies, striking a deputy. Morales remained barricaded for several hours and continued firing during a standoff involving multiple agencies. Later in the day, Morales left the residence and moved through nearby yards. Police reported he continued firing at officers. Deputies in an armored SWAT vehicle from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office drove the vehicle into Morales, killing him.

The driver did not stop and deputies chased the vehicle through city streets and onto Interstate 10 and Interstate 15 for nearly an hour. Deputies deployed spike strips and attempted to use a grappler device, which did not attach and caused the driver to lose control and crash into a concrete wall on Antigua Drive. Deputies surrounded the vehicle and initiated a standoff, using armored vehicles, a drone, tear gas, and a crisis negotiation team. After communication stopped, deputies breached the vehicle and found the driver with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead.
