An off-duty Indianapolis officer noticed a vehicle as he drove on Interstate 465 at about 3:30 a.m. that was traveling with its lights off below the speed limit at about 45 mph and was straddling the shoulder of the interstate. The off-duty officer requested on-duty backup. The license plate had been reported stolen.
Indianapolis Metro PD tried to stop the vehicle at West 71st Street and Zionsville Road but the car drove away. Police escalated a chase until the vehicle crashed into a utility pole at West 62nd Street and Zionsville Road. The vehicle caught fire and the driver died.He was identified as Damion Collier, 15, after crashing into a utility pole early Tuesday, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. On 12/02/2022, law enforcement in Jennings County engaged in a prolonged standoff with Cory Duane Jenkins, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants and believed to be armed inside a rural residence near North County Road 550 W and 200 S. On 12/01/2022 at about 7:30 p.m., the South Bend Police Department responded to the 6400 block of Armstrong Drive after receiving a report of an assault and possible shooting. Officers found a 66-year-old woman, later identified as Catherine Cleveland, outside the home suffering from a gunshot wound; she was taken to a hospital and died from her injuries. As police were responding, Alfred Cleveland barricaded himself inside the residence. Crisis negotiators and the South Bend SWAT team were called in and engaged with him for several hours. After he stopped communicating with negotiators, officers deployed a chemical agent to gain entry. Inside the home, officers found Alfred Cleveland suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On 06/23/2022, Indiana State Police attempted to stop Michael Eugene White near Lynnville in Warrick County. White did not stop and police initiated a pursuit. The pursuit ended near the 700 block of Clutter Road where White exited his vehicle while holding a firearm. Officers issued commands and established a perimeter. During the standoff, White shot himself. He was transported for medical treatment and later pronounced dead. Indiana State Police reported that no officers fired their weapons.

On 04/25/2022, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a 911 call reporting a mental health crisis involving 39-year-old Herman Whitfield III at his parents' home in Indianapolis. According to reports, Whitfield was naked and pacing inside the residence.
