From a distance, officers saw the man stumble and fall into a brick landscaping wall near Union Hills Drive. Edited BWC footage shows one of the officers telling the man to stop as he has his hand on top of a wall having his arms pulled down, being ordered to sit down. Two officers wrestled him down. They then picked him up, cuffed him and walked him over into the shade of a nearby storefront. The unhoused man became unresponsive and died.

Conway PD said they encountered Williams during a domestic disturbance call reported at the McDonald’s on Oak Street in Conway around 11:44 a.m. where a man and woman were reported to have been fighting in a car in the parking lot. Williams exited the car and spoke to police when they arrived. They asked for his ID and he returned to the car, started rummaging through it and did not exit on command. Police pulled him from the vehicle. He started running. Officers found him behind a residence on Gum Street where he started showing signs of medical distress. He died in the hospital soon after.
Strangely, his autopsy was completed in December of 2023 and his death was ruled "accidental" while his sickle cell trait and alleged methamphetamine in his system were alleged to have contributed. This still leaves the main cause of death undisclosed trauma in police custody. Sickle cell trait is not a lethal condition, merely a trait that can exacerbate sickle cell crisis. While there was allegedly some meth in his system, it was not reported as leading cause of death. His cause of death was concealed by these findings by the coroner and remains an unknown "accident" while handcuffed in police custody.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department and South Carolina Highway Patrol combinedchased a vehicle that refused a traffic stop. Police escalated the chase to over 100 mph until the vehicle ended in a pond near Lost Creek Drive and Boat Ramp Road in the Chestnut Hill Plantation subdivision. Five teenagers ages 14 to 18 were pulled from the vehicle. Hours later, Brandon Nunez, a sixth person was found drowned. He had not been the driver.

Gregory Don Bratcher Jr., 45, was shot and killed by Odenville police during a response to a domestic disturbance at a residence near 15705 Highway 411. Police alleged that Bratcher, a decorated U.S. Army veteran with diagnosed PTSD, entered the woods armed after the dispute. He was shot by police under disputed circumstances and pronounced dead at the scene. His family contends he never pointed a weapon at anyone and did not hold his wife hostage. A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed. The Oxford Police Department and Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics are investigating.
