On April 18, 2024, at approximately 6:44 p.m., the Wayne County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at 1131 Buffalo Road in Hortense, Georgia. Deputies arrived and established a perimeter around the residence with assistance from Jesup Police Department officers. Using a public address system, officers ordered Tracey Sanna, 69, to exit the home.

Sanna briefly attempted to leave through the back door but retreated upon seeing officers. Moments later, a gunshot was heard from inside the residence. Police entered the home and found Sanna and 69-year-old Dr. Marsha Certain, a prominent local cardiologist, both deceased from gunshot wounds. Investigators stated that Sanna fatally shot Dr. Certain before taking his own life.

An intoxicated man stole a pickup and a shotgun and police escalated a standoff in a vehicle. Police attacked the man with CS gas and state he was “going in and out” and then tasered him. Police approached the vehicle and discovered he still had the shotgun but police found him to be incoherent and began physically fighting him to subdue him. The man became unresponsive and died. An autopsy was done by the Licking County coroner’s office who gave “narcotics use” as reason for his death, making no mention of any effects of taser or physical assault as contributing factors. No independent medical examination can be found.

Upon arrival, officers identified 46-year-old Donald Washington, who matched the description, sitting on a park bench. Officers exited their vehicle with weapons drawn and issued multiple commands for Washington to remove his hands from his pockets and to drop the firearm. Washington did not comply and began to back away, repeatedly asking, "Why?" As officers continued to instruct him to drop the gun, Washington pulled a firearm from his jacket pocket. An officer then discharged their weapon, striking Washington. After falling to the ground, Washington appeared to raise the gun again, prompting the officer to fire additional rounds. Officers rendered medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported Washington to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A loaded firearm was recovered at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is conducting an independent investigation, and the Long Beach Police Department is reviewing the officers' actions to ensure compliance with departmental policies.

Officers located Sterling at a gas station near 52nd Street and Eastern Avenue in Kentwood. Upon approach, Sterling fled on foot. During the pursuit, Detective Sergeant Brian Keely, operating an unmarked police vehicle, struck Sterling in the parking lot of a nearby Burger King, pinning him against the building's wall. Sterling sustained multiple blunt force injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m.

Following the incident, Detective Sergeant Keely was suspended pending investigation. On May 28, 2024, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that Keely was charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for his actions leading to Sterling's death. Upon arrival, they encountered 48-year-old Adam Michael Lawrence sitting in his vehicle with a gun visible on the seat. On 04/14/2024, officers from the Cannon Falls Police Department responded to an incident at the Mayo Clinic on County 24 Boulevard in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man with a gun.

Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation and urged the man to disarm. Despite their efforts, the individual reportedly turned the firearm on himself and fired, resulting in a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On April 14, 2024, Houston PD escalated a chase involving a vehicle. Officers performed a PIT maneuver, which caused the vehicle to crash. A man, later identified as Patrick Hurst, exited the vehicle and allegedly engaged in a shootout with police, who killed him. During the exchange of gunfire, a 47-year-old female bystander, who was sitting in a nearby parked car, was struck by bullets and died from her injuries. The incident occurred at the intersection of Ella Blvd and FM 1960 Rd W in Houston. Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved, including the Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff's Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety.

On April 13, 2024, at approximately 6:07 p.m., the Henderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a man with a gun threatening individuals at the North Mills River Campground. Deputies located a vehicle linked to the incident, driven by 29-year-old Hayden Elias Brook. Brook did not stop when officers approached, and police escalated a pursuit.

The pursuit ended when Brook crashed his van at 3908 North Mills River Road. Deputies exited their vehicles and reported seeing Brook discharge a firearm. Deputies Lance Corporal Zachary Tatham, Stephen McDonald, and Conner Newman fired their weapons. Brook was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy later revealed that Brook died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Henderson County Sheriff's Office reported Brook fired his weapon during the confrontation, but it is unclear from reports if any of the deputies’ shots struck him.

A man was walking in and out of traffic, was subdued and arrested by El Paso PD. Video of a brutal arrest beating with a number of officers kneeling on him and beating him is linked. He had recently been arrested for being in the Bloods street gang and was on parole when attacked and beaten and possibly asphyxiated to death during arrest.

Marta Prater, 49, an apparently unhoused woman with a known history of mental health issues, allegedly arrived at a property and was told to leave. Police arrived and tried to force her to take her belongings and tried to arrest her for loitering. Police shot her with a taser three times. She picked up what police describe a “homemade weapon” consisting of a pair of scissors on a rope and swung it at police, breaking a patrol car window. Police state she wore "ten layers of clothing" and they could not tase her and therefore shot and killed her. Her only weapon was the described scissors on a rope. Police gave lengthy media interviews and detailed explanations but failed to provide BWC or dashcam footage collaborating the narrative.

Syracuse PD and Onondaga deputies chased a driver for failed traffic stop. The officers tracked the car and caught up with it in front of a home. They approached the car and 2 officers were shot and killed. The man whom they had engaged in a shootout with was also shot and killed.

On April 13, 2024, Albany Police Department officers responded to reports of 41-year-old Robert Joseph Carver entering apartments and vehicles without permission in the 2000 block of Nottingham Way in Albany, Georgia. Officers arrived and detained Carver, reporting that he was acting erratically.

While in police custody, Carver stopped breathing. Officers administered life-saving measures until emergency medical services transported him to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the incident to determine the events leading to Carver’s death. Authorities confirmed Carver was unarmed during the encounter.

On April 16, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a carjacking at gunpoint was reported in Hemet, Riverside County. Murrieta Police located the stolen Toyota Camry and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled southbound on Interstate 15, initiating a high-speed pursuit. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) deployed spike strips near Gopher Canyon Road, deflating the vehicle's front tires. Despite this, the vehicle continued driving until crashing near the Deer Springs Road exit in Escondido. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers found the male driver deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His identity has not been released. The CHP is investigating the pursuit and crash circumstances.

A man accused of carjacking was chased by police until he arrived at the American Legion building. Police arrived with K9s and shot and killed by police.

On April 13, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Durand Police Officer Kurt Moffitt conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 700 block of South Oak Street in Durand. The officer found the driver, 43-year-old Daniel Silver, to have an outstanding warrant. Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathon Kirby arrived on the scene to assist. The officer claimed that Silver attempted to flee and "drove his vehicle aggressively toward Deputy Kirby," striking him. In response, Deputy Kirby shot and killed him.

Deputy Kirby was cleared of any wrongdoing.
