On March 31, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Fayetteville Police officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of North Glynn Street and East Stonewall Avenue after observing a vehicle with a license plate that did not correspond to the vehicle's registration. The driver did not stop. Troopers escalated a chase through Fayetteville. Before the busy McDonough Road intersection, officers executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway and crash. Both occupants, identified as adult females, were transported to a local hospital, where they died from their injuries. The Georgia State Patrol is conducting an investigation into the incident. As of this 12/02/2024 update, the identities of the two women involved in the March 31, 2024, incident in Fayetteville, Georgia, have not been publicly disclosed. On March 30, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's East Los Angeles Station responded to reports of a woman screaming for help and being followed by a van in the 1500 block of North Herbert Avenue, Unincorporated Los Angeles. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a Hispanic female adult who reported that her boyfriend had just assaulted her. While interviewing the woman, deputies observed a green Honda van, driven by 44-year-old Adrian Agustin Pilar of Los Angeles, traveling southbound on Herbert Avenue toward City Terrace Drive. Deputies followed Pilar to the end of a cul-de-sac in the 3900 block of East Snow Drive. Exiting their patrol vehicle, deputies detained Pilar at gunpoint and issued commands for him to stop his vehicle. Pilar made a three-point turn and began driving toward the deputies, ignoring repeated commands to stop. As he continued to advance toward one of the deputies, a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Pilar sustained gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Deputies administered first aid until Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived. Pilar was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. One deputy was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the incident. No other individuals were injured. The LASD Homicide Bureau is conducting an investigation, with oversight from the Office of the Inspector General, Internal Affairs Bureau, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Justice System Integrity Division.

While heading eastbound on the 25000 block of Gentian Avenue, the driver lost control and collided with two parked vehicles. All three passengers were transported to Riverside University Health System Medical Center with major injuries. One passenger, identified as 19-year-old Villalon Ramirez, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Steven Israel Corona of Moreno Valley, was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence resulting in injuries, and felony evading with great bodily injury. He posted a $250,000 bond and was released from custody later that day.

On March 28, 2024, Clayton County Police Department (CCPD) officers were investigating allegations of sexual assault and false imprisonment involving Robert Prince, 37, of College Park, Georgia. As officers arrived to execute a search warrant at the location where the alleged assault occurred, they observed Prince driving past in a black car. Officers followed him to a Valero gas station on Riverdale Road and attempted to detain him for questioning. Prince exited his vehicle and began firing at the officers, striking their patrol car's windshield and body. The officers took cover and returned fire, resulting in Prince's death at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident.

On March 27, 2024, at approximately 3:23 a.m., the Riverside County Sheriff's Office SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of North Vista Way in Colton, targeting 55-year-old David Leslie Genereux, suspected of involvement in multiple armed robberies. Upon arrival, deputies made several announcements for the occupants to exit the home. A woman emerged and was detained without incident; however, Genereux remained inside and opened fire on the deputies. The SWAT team returned fire. On March 27, 2024, at approximately 7:51 a.m., Pacifica Police Department officers responded to a 911 call from a 23-year-old man reporting that his mother, 50-year-old Michelle Arrais, had shot him inside their apartment on the 2500 block of Francisco Boulevard. The son stated he was awakened by gunshots before Arrais entered his bedroom and shot him twice. Upon arrival, officers observed Arrais attempting to leave the apartment complex in a white SUV. When officers ordered her to stop, she allegedly pointed a firearm at them, prompting Corporal Hayden Fry and Officer Kevin Contreras to discharge their service weapons, fatally wounding her. A loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun and four boxes of ammunition were recovered from her vehicle. Inside the apartment, officers found the family dog deceased from apparent gunshot wounds, believed to have been inflicted by Arrais prior to shooting her son. The son was located hiding in a locked bathroom, treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and later released from the hospital. The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office conducted an investigation and concluded that the officers' use of lethal force was legally justifiable self-defense and defense of others, resulting in no criminal charges against them.

On March 26, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Clio Police Department officers and Genesee County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a domestic disturbance with shots fired at an apartment complex in the 600 block of North Mill Street in Clio, Michigan. Officers discovered two deceased individuals: 31-year-old Ron Tatro and 51-year-old Kasi Ane Gipe. On March 26, 2024, reports indicated that 68-year-old Bill Dean Osterhout was suicidal. Per his girlfriend, he was not at the residence and had sent concerning text messages.

At around 5:31 p.m., officers located Osterhout sitting in his pickup truck in the parking lot of a liquor store at 237 N. Main Street. Officers approached and observed a handgun between his legs. They engaged him and demanded that he put down the gun. He allegedly made suicidal statements, pointing the gun at his head and chin multiple times.

Police alleged that at approximately 5:42 p.m., he pointed the handgun at them. Two officers opened fire, collectively firing 22 rounds and striking him. Osterhout was pronounced deceased at the location at 5:49 p.m.

On March 26, 2024, at approximately 5:09 p.m., Fullerton Police Department officers responded to a reported bank robbery at the Wells Fargo branch located at 141 W. Bastanchury Road. The man, identified as 57-year-old Scott William Thompson, entered the bank wearing a mask and claimed to possess a bomb contained within a white box. He demanded $58,000 from the teller, threatening to detonate the device if his demands were not met. At the time, the bank was occupied by employees and at least one customer. Officers arrived on the scene within two minutes and established communication with bank employees via telephone. Approximately ten minutes into the incident, employees informed officers that they had placed the demanded money into a box labeled "DPS" and that Thompson would be exiting the bank shortly. Upon exiting the bank holding the white box, officers issued commands for Thompson to stop and raise his hands. Thompson failed to comply and began walking back toward the bank entrance. Fearing that he might re-enter the bank with an explosive device, officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding him. The Orange County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad was dispatched to assess the potential threat. They determined that the device was a facsimile, constructed to resemble an actual explosive but incapable of detonation. No officers, bank employees, or customers were injured during the incident. Subsequent investigations revealed that Thompson had an extensive criminal history, including prior federal convictions for armed bank robbery and escape, and was on federal probation for armed bank robbery at the time of the incident.

Piazza allegedly stated he would return with a rifle.

On March 25, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a collision occurred near the intersection of Highway 231 and Highway 390 in Panama City, Florida. A Bay County Sheriff's Office prisoner transport van, carrying three inmates, was traveling north on Highway 231 when a Honda sedan, also northbound, collided with the rear of the van. The impact resulted in injuries to seven individuals, including the three prisoners, all of whom were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Kristen Clark, a 33-year-old passenger in the Honda, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. She was seven months pregnant; her unborn son, Asher Blaze, did not survive.

On March 23, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers responded to a 911 call reporting a partially naked man armed with a knife at the Plaza Del Rey mobile home park, located at 1225 Vienna Drive. The caller, later identified as 19-year-old Emmanuel Perez Becerra, was experiencing a mental health crisis and had contacted emergency services on himself. Upon arrival, officers encountered Perez Becerra, who was naked from the waist down and holding a kitchen knife. Officers repeatedly commanded him to drop the weapon. Initially, Perez Becerra walked away but then turned and advanced toward Officer Kevin Lemos, disregarding commands to stop. Officer Lemos discharged his firearm twice, striking Perez Becerra. Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Perez Becerra was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. On 03/23/2024, police confronted Benjamin Walby, a Michigan Technological University student, due to a noise complaint at an apartment building in Hancock, Michigan. Body camera footage shows Walby running down a stairwell where officers tackled him to the ground. Officers fired stun guns multiple times while restraining him. Walby was placed face down and restrained with his hands and feet bound behind his back, a restraint method commonly referred to as hog-tying, while officers held him in a prone position for an extended period. The lawsuit alleges Walby was unarmed and experiencing a mental health crisis. During the restraint, Walby became unresponsive. He was transported to a hospital where he suffered cardiac arrest, was briefly revived, and later died on 04/04/2024.
In January 2026, Walby’s family filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against multiple officers and agencies, alleging excessive force, improper use of stun guns, dangerous restraint techniques that restricted breathing, and failure by officers to intervene or provide timely medical care. A woman called 911 to report she had witnessed a murder at the home. SWAT and drone operators were sent and neighbors were ordered to evacuate or shelter in place. On March 23, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Snellville Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a Hyundai Tucson near the intersection of U.S. 78 (West Main Street) and Fountain Drive, close to Piedmont Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Georgia. The vehicle was stopped for operating without headlights. The driver, identified as Rashawn Johnson, 36, of Tucker, Georgia, partially lowered his window and informed officers that he wished to call his mother. After providing his identification, Johnson remained in the vehicle. When officers requested that he exit, he opened the driver's door, revealing a firearm. Despite commands to drop the weapon, Johnson discharged his firearm, leading officers to return fire. Johnson sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested to investigate the officer-involved shooting. An autopsy conducted by the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that Johnson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
