The individual, 53-year-old Cole Jackson Hughes, was reported by his wife to be armed with a gun and an ax. Upon arrival, deputies found Hughes in the front yard holding what appeared to be a rifle. They issued verbal commands for over 20 minutes to de-escalate the situation.

Hughes raised the weapon toward the deputies, prompting Deputy Nicholas Rocha to fire, striking Hughes. The weapon was later determined to be an unloaded pellet rifle. On March 7, 2024, around 12:17 a.m., Northwestern State University (NSU) Police initiated a vehicle pursuit involving 51-year-old Georgia Lenelle Stenson on the NSU campus in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The Natchitoches Police Department (NPD) was called to assist as the pursuit continued westbound on University Parkway. During the chase, Stenson's vehicle collided with three NPD patrol cars, causing moderate damage. The pursuit concluded on the southbound on-ramp to Interstate 49, where officers attempted to negotiate with Stenson to exit her vehicle. Subsequently, officers heard a single gunshot from within the car and found Stenson with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office.

On March 7, 2024, at approximately 9:30 PM, deputies from the Troup County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at 1155 Shoemaker Road in West Point, Georgia. The call reported that 52-year-old Russell Heiser was armed and threatening to harm himself and possibly others inside the residence, including a child. Police evacuated several family members from the home, leaving Heiser inside alone. Around 11:45 PM, Heiser exited the residence, placed his handgun on the porch railing, and continued to communicate with deputies. Shortly after midnight, a deputy deployed a Taser, alleging that Heiser had attempted to retrieve the weapon. Heiser allegedly managed to obtain the handgun and pointed it at deputies. He fired a number of rounds as he retreated into the house. A single gunshot was heard from inside. Deputies entered the home and found Heiser unresponsive from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

On March 6, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Kane County Sheriff's Deputy attempted a traffic stop on a black Dodge Durango traveling westbound on Route 64 at speeds of 92 mph. The driver did not stop. Officers escalated a chase which reached speeds of up to 110 mph. The deputy called off the chase and momentarily lost sight of the vehicle, but moments later, the deputy found the Durango crashed into a tree on the west side of Ramm Road. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The driver’s identity has not been released and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is under investigation by the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force. The identities of the officers involved have not been publicly disclosed.

On March 6, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Fullerton Police Department officers responded to reports of two men acting erratically outside a McDonald's restaurant on the 1300 block of South Brookhurst Road. Upon arrival, officers encountered 50-year-old Alejandro Campos Rios, who was shirtless, singing, and swinging a belt. Officers attempted to communicate with Rios for about 10 minutes, but he did not comply with commands to drop the belt. An officer deployed a Taser, which was ineffective. Subsequently, another officer fired multiple beanbag rounds from a shotgun, striking Rios. One of the beanbag rounds penetrated Rios's chest, causing significant bleeding. Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation by the Fullerton Police Department and the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Police were engaged in an “altercation” with Francisco Hernandez and went to get a warrant for it. When they found Francisco Hernandez, he fled by car, crashed into a tree and fled on foot. Police allege he had a gun and they shot and killed him. Hernandez only had a BB gun.

On 03/02/2024, federal agents from the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs pursued 39-year-old Cody Allen Whiterock from the Duck Valley Reservation in Nevada into Idaho. The pursuit ended near milepost 15 on Idaho Route 51 in Riddle, where Whiterock exited his vehicle and fled on foot. During the foot chase, agents discharged their firearms, fatally wounding Whiterock. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:38 p.m. The Owyhee County Sheriff's Department requested the Idaho State Police to investigate the shooting. Court records indicated that Whiterock had an outstanding warrant for a December incident involving felony eluding and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing officers. Authorities have not disclosed whether Whiterock was armed during the encounter.
