On March 6, 2024, Dothan Police responded to a report of a shooting at a home on Bunche Street, where 62-year-old Reinetta Ann Lewis was found dead in the front yard from multiple gunshot wounds. Her ex-husband, Ansel Lewis, was believed to have committed the shooting. Police quickly set up a perimeter around the house, placing nearby Dothan High School on lockdown. Crisis negotiators attempted to make contact with Ansel Lewis, but after no communication, the Special Response Team (SRT) entered the residence. A robot, used to inspect the area, revealed that Ansel Lewis was found dead inside, having died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident was identified as a murder-suicide with domestic motivations, as the victim had filed a protection order against Ansel Lewis just a day before the shooting. Reinetta had recently finalized her divorce from Lewis, and court records revealed he had a history of violent behavior​.

On March 6, 2024, at approximately 11:27 p.m., Broward County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the Broward County Transit Depot in Pompano Beach, Florida. Upon arrival, deputies encountered 59-year-old Rafael A. Molina, a transit employee, who had just fatally shot his coworker, 42-year-old Warren H. Chambers. Molina fired approximately six shots at the responding deputies. In response, Sergeant Noel Mercado, Deputy Joseph Sherbo, and Deputy Richard Delgaudio opened fire, discharging a total of 49 rounds, which resulted in Molina's death at the scene.

On March 6, 2024, at approximately 7:44 p.m., Sedgwick County 911 received a report of a man pointing a gun at another person in the 2300 block of North Fairview. Luis Alfonso Rivera, 35 years old, had left the residence before officers arrived.

At around 7:54 p.m., Wichita Police Department officers located Rivera walking south on Fairview with a handgun pressed to his head, shouting at the officers. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, following him on foot and in vehicles as he proceeded west on 21st Street, continuing to hold the gun to his head and ignoring multiple commands to drop the weapon. A police negotiator used a patrol car's public address system to communicate with Rivera, but he remained unresponsive to directives.

At approximately 8:06 p.m., in a parking lot at 21st and Arkansas, an officer fired a beanbag round, striking Rivera in the back. Rivera then turned toward the officers, leveled his gun at them, and fired multiple rounds. Eight officers opened fire, striking Rivera multiple times. Officers administered aid until emergency medical services arrived, but Rivera was pronounced deceased at the location at 8:21 p.m.

On March 6, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to a hit-and-run incident on westbound Interstate 80 east of Penryn. The man, later identified as 31-year-old Samuel Lee Cook, fled the scene in a Toyota pickup truck. Officers located Cook's vehicle parked on the right shoulder of I-80, just west of Penryn Road. As officers approached, Cook exited his vehicle and ran into oncoming traffic, where he was struck and killed by a big rig. The driver of the big rig remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. It is unclear why Cook ran into traffic, and investigations are ongoing to determine if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.

On March 4, 2024, at approximately 12:10 a.m., Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a man brandishing a firearm outside La Hacienda del Toro, a nightclub on Stony Point Road in Santa Rosa. Upon arrival, deputies encountered 53-year-old Jose Luis Villasenor Cervantes, who was armed with an AK-47-style rifle. Cervantes opened fire on the deputies, initiating a pursuit during which he repeatedly stopped to shoot at law enforcement before fleeing again. The chase concluded when Cervantes crashed his vehicle into a fence on the 3200 block of Stony Point Road. Following the collision, deputies found Cervantes deceased. The Sonoma County Coroner's Office later determined that Cervantes died from blunt force trauma sustained in the crash.

During the incident, four deputies sustained injuries. Deputy Nicholas Dellia suffered critical head injuries and burns after being accidentally struck by a fellow deputy's vehicle while deploying spike strips. He was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. The other three deputies sustained injuries to their hands and legs; two were treated and released, while the third remained hospitalized.

The foster parents of 17-year-old Johanna Gonzalez reported she was experiencing a mental health crisis. Upon arrival, deputies found that Johanna had left the residence on foot. Approximately 15 minutes later, Johanna arrived at the Industry Sheriff's Station, located about a mile from her foster home. She knocked on the station's door, and when a deputy opened it, an altercation ensued during which Johanna managed to remove the deputy's firearm from its holster. She then used the weapon to inflict a fatal gunshot wound upon herself.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled Johanna's death a suicide, citing the cause as a gunshot wound to the head. On 03/03/2024, in the early morning hours, U.S. Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) agents were conducting operations in the Puebla Tree area of the Otay Mountains, approximately five miles east of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. This area had recently experienced armed robberies and assaults targeting migrants crossing into the United States.

BORTAC agents were strategically positioned, with a small group concealed about 70 yards north of the border along a ravine near a paved road, and a precision marksman stationed on high ground approximately 275 yards away, providing overwatch. Witness accounts indicate a group of migrants was walking on the paved road when they were approached by four individuals, at least one armed with a handgun. The armed individual demanded money, chambered a round, and pointed the weapon at one of the migrants. At that moment, the BORTAC precision marksman fired one round, striking the armed individual.

The migrants reported hearing a single gunshot and saw the assailant fall but were unaware of the shot's origin. No other injuries were reported. A handgun was recovered near the individual. Agents apprehended 17 migrants in the area, while three other individuals, possibly armed, fled into Mexico.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and CBP's Office of Professional Responsibility are investigating the incident. CBP's National Use of Force Review Board will review the case upon conclusion of the investigation. The Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General has been notified.

On March 3, 2024, at approximately 10:00 PM, officers from the Clarkesville Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a truck driven by 48-year-old William Charles Lamberti. Lamberti did not stop. Police escalated the chase along Georgia Highway 115 in Habersham County. The Habersham County Sheriff's Office and Demorest Police Department joined the high-speed chase. A Habersham County Sheriff's deputy performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, bringing the pursuit to an end near Georgia Highway 115 and Habersham Mills Road. Lamberti, under intense pressure from a multi-agency high-speed chase and the aggressive PIT maneuver, shot himself inside the truck. Emergency Medical Services treated Lamberti and transported him to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident due to the use of the PIT maneuver. Lamberti's body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

On March 3, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., an Iowa State Police trooper observed a vehicle driving erratically near the intersection of North Brady Street and East 53rd in Davenport, Iowa. The driver, later identified as 20-year-old Javier Villareal, did not stop when officers attempted a traffic stop.

Troopers escalated a high-speed pursuit northbound on Brady Street, during which the vehicle reportedly exceeded the posted speed limits. The pursuit ended near the intersection of North Brady Street and East 53rd when Villareal’s vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned before coming to rest in a ditch.

Emergency responders pronounced Villareal dead at the crash location. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.

On 03/02/2024, Jeffrey Lynn Chapman, a 57-year-old White male, was fatally shot by Wright County Sheriff's Deputy Austin Feenstra during a traffic stop on Ivory Avenue Northeast in St. Michael, Minnesota. According to reports, Deputy Feenstra conducted the stop after identifying a potential violation. During the interaction, Chapman reportedly brandished a firearm. Deputy Feenstra fired multiple shots, striking Chapman.

On 03/01/2024, Denver Police Department (DPD) officers responded to a hostage situation at a 7-Eleven on West 5th Avenue and Federal Boulevard in Denver, Colorado. Christopher Cauch, 43, had reportedly carjacked a vehicle earlier that evening in Lakewood and then barricaded himself inside the convenience store. He locked two employees in the back office and held one at knifepoint.

Officers arrived after receiving 911 calls about a potential robbery and stabbing. Through a small window in the locked office, officers observed Cauch threatening an employee with a sharp object. After breaching the door, officers saw Cauch holding the weapon to the employee's neck and issuing threats.

In response to the imminent danger to the hostage, four officers fired 36 rounds within five seconds, fatally shooting Cauch. The two hostages were rescued unharmed. The weapon used by Cauch was later identified as a 6-inch hand tool commonly used for pulling nails.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado State Patrol are investigating the shooting. The four officers involved have been placed on modified duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police arrived at a private residence in Houston to investigate a man in his 20s who had allegedly fired shots at police. The man fired shots when police arrived at the apartment. Police fired back as he retreated into the apartment. Police created a standoff and discovered he had died of a gunshot wound after being shot. A woman was in the apartment and survived.

On March 1, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers from the Urbandale Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for possible involvement in a prior shooting incident near 86th Street in Urbandale, Iowa. The driver of the vehicle did not stop. Urbandale Police escalated a high-speed pursuit along residential and commercial streets, reaching high speeds.

During the pursuit, it was reported that a passenger, identified as 22-year-old Jeffrey Lionel Smith, Jr., allegedly fired a gun from the fleeing vehicle. The pursuit ended near the 6000 block of 86th Street when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, disabling it.

Officers claimed to have observed Smith exit the vehicle with a gun. According to police accounts, officers opened fire, striking Smith. He was pronounced dead at the location.

The Urbandale Police Department has stated that body camera footage captured the encounter. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is conducting an independent investigation, and findings will be reviewed by the Polk County Attorney’s Office.

On March 1, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers from the California State University, Chico Police Department attempted to stop a Ford Mustang for erratic driving near Big Chico Creek on Warner Street. The driver failed to yield, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit. The chase culminated when the Mustang crashed into a residence in the 900 block of The Esplanade, near East Sacramento Avenue, across from Chico High School. The collision caused the vehicle's gas tank to rupture, igniting a fire that quickly engulfed both the car and the house. Barbara Diane Ayers-Ferris, 87, was inside the home at the time and died in the blaze. Her husband was rescued and transported to a local hospital; his condition remains undisclosed. Two female passengers in the Mustang were also rescued and hospitalized with unspecified injuries. T
