Officer Costello of Woodville PD was sent on a call about a man causing a disturbance in the 200 block of Shivers Drive in Woodville. The man was identified as Reginal Owens, 41. Costello tried to make contact with him but he drove away. Costello chased Owens for several blocks. He tried to stop the vehicle again by blocking Owens into a private driveway, but Owens continued evading Costello. Officer Costello approached the driver's side and Owens allegedly shot him in the face and drove away. Police escalated a chase and saw him back near the 200 block of Shivers Drive. Several deputies and Woodville police officers set up a search perimeter and saw Owens exit the wooded area with a handgun in his waistband. "Police claim that he made an aggressive movement toward the handgun that was in his waistband," police alleged. They shot and killed him.

On Sept. 17, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m. California Highway Patrol attempted a traffic stop for a cracked windshield and failure to wear a seatbelt on California State Route 96 in Hoopa. The vehicle did not stop and troopers escalated a chase, ending in the area of the 12500 block of SR-96.
William Burrell Nelson exited and fled on foot. Officer Johnson chased him approximately 200 yards before overtaking him. A struggle reportedly ensued as the officer tasered and attempted to take the man into custody and then shot and killed him.
It is believed that the man had been unarmed. He was deliberately killed for a combined total of a cracked windshield, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to stop for police.

An eyewitness stated that they saw him with a backpack on his back walk past, that he had nothing in his hands and that shortly thereafter, police shot him. The eyewitness did not see him holding any weapon just prior to being killed.
Protesters have been gathering in downtown Huntsville to demand release of the bodycam footage to no avail. Huntsville PD has never released any bodycams unless ordered by a court in recent years.
The officer has returned to duty and this seems to be an open and shut case. The officer who was unnamed was cleared.

He died during arrest. The fact that he was naked as well as described as erratic suggests a possible drug overdose. Methamphetamines and cocaine are known to produce hyperthermia events causing a person to overheat and commonly remove their clothing. Being naked and erratic is a common sign of drug overdoses that is known by all emergency medical personnel. Police should have been cognizant of the medical urgency when encountering a naked incoherent man.

A man was reported for a disturbance and Stockton PD arrived. The man refused to engage with police and walked past them. They shot and killed him. Police claim he “pulled a gun from his pants”, adding that the "gun was as long as his leg", further adding that he had “engaged in a shooting with police.” This initial claim was changed to "he reached for his waistband," leaving it unclear how a very long gun could fit in his waistband. The only “gun” found was a plastic replica.
Bodycam video was released on 10/26/2023 and is linked below, showing only a man in the darkness with his back turned trying his best to get away from police with guns pointed at him until he is gunned down. No long guns or other guns can be seen in the video which is linked below. The video is heavily edited, omitting how the situation came about and cuts off at the sound of police gunfire.

Omaha PD allege this was a “suicide by cop” but neither police nor family provided no indication that the man had been suicidal. The claim of “suicide by cop” is a popular theme with police trying to explain their homicides which is also very often contradicted by the details of a case. Nothing except a subjective statement by police that they assume Johnson wanted them to kill him has been provided by police. He was the father of 3 children and had a family.
