On December 15, 2021, around 10:30 a.m., deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department were called to investigate an unknown vehicle in the 700 block of South Walnut Street, North Platte. They found Keith Alan Hinrichsen, 52, inside the vehicle. When deputies approached, Hinrichsen allegedly got out of the car and moved towards them. Police shot and killed him. He was declared dead at the scene. It is unknown whether he was armed or represented a threat and why he was shot. The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the event.

On December 14, 2021, deputies from the Pender County Sheriff's Office attempted to serve a domestic violence protective order to Kevin Glenn Swinson, 45, at his residence in the Canetuck community near Currie, North Carolina. On December 14, 2021, law enforcement attempted to stop Bobby Lee Byrd Jr., 40, in Mitchell County, North Carolina, leading to a vehicle pursuit. On 12/14/2021, at approximately 6:48 a.m., Dayton Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting near Hoover Avenue and Evergreen Avenue, where a 49-year-old man was allegedly shot in the leg by William Gardner, who had fired multiple shots at the man while he was walking his dog. Gardner then retreated to his home.

SWAT officers established a perimeter and pressured Gardner for hours. Approximately three hours later, Gardner came out of his home with a handgun. Police alleged that he walked toward SWAT officers and that they feared for their lives. Multiple SWAT officers fired assault rifles, killing Gardner.

On December 13, 2021, at approximately 9:00 a.m., deputies from the Torrance County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on West Alan Ayers Road in Estancia. A caller reported that a male, wearing a black hoodie and a red facemask, entered her backyard and fired at least one shot before fleeing westbound on West Alan Ayers Road. A deputy located the man near West Alan Ayers Road and Lassiter Road. For reasons still under investigation, the deputy discharged his duty weapon at least once, striking the man. Despite administering first aid, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau is leading the investigation into the incident.

On 12/12/2021, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Cleveland Police Department officers responded to reports of a man, Patrick Horton, walking near Superior Avenue and East 12th Street, pointing a gun at vehicles and firing into the air.

Upon arrival, officers ordered Horton to drop the gun. He reportedly complied, placed the gun on the ground, but then, in an undisclosed series of events, retrieved it and allegedly began firing at police. Officers Sean Grace and Matthew Gulak opened fire, striking Horton. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

On December 11, 2021, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Kokomo Police attempted to stop a 2016 Nissan in the area of Mulberry and Washington Streets. The vehicle did not stop, and officers initiated a pursuit. After losing sight of the vehicle, officers terminated the chase. Shortly thereafter, police were dispatched to a crash at North Berkley Road and West Jefferson Street. The Nissan had collided with a Dodge Ram while heading westbound. Sydney Leigh Glenn, a 24-year-old passenger in the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger were injured, as was the driver of the Dodge Ram.

On 12/09/2021, around 2 a.m., officers from the Robbinsdale Police Department spotted a stolen black SUV from Minneapolis. They initiated a pursuit which continued into Minneapolis. Police continued to chase until the driver of the SUV lost control at the intersection of Hayes Street Northeast and Northeast Lowry Avenue where the vehicle broke in two upon impact. Shawndale Devon Hickman, aged 16, was one of five juveniles inside the SUV. He died at the scene from blunt-force injuries. Another teenager also died in the crash. The other three occupants were hospitalized with serious injuries. The reason for the fatal chase was that police investigated the car as possibly stolen.

On December 7, 2021, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a concerned neighbor contacted the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, reporting that 88-year-old Ronald Ehrich had not been seen for two days. Deputies responded to his residence on Longcrest Drive. Deputy Anastacia Castillo, who had been with the department since 2015, entered the home to conduct a welfare check. As she ascended the stairs, she knocked on a bedroom door and announced her presence. When there was no response, she knocked again and heard a male voice indicating he was armed. Ehrich then opened the door and advanced toward Deputy Castillo with a firearm. Fearing for her life, Deputy Castillo discharged her service weapon, fatally wounding Ehrich. On December 7, 2021, at approximately 9:00 p.m., deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence call at the Las Mañanitas apartment complex near Coors and Montaño in Albuquerque. The victim had previously reported a domestic violence incident at an Allsup's gas station earlier in the day. Upon arrival, deputies arrested Mario Armando Diaz, 41, at the apartment complex. While being transported in a patrol vehicle, Diaz managed to slip one hand out of his handcuffs and attempted to flee. A brief foot pursuit ensued, leading to a physical altercation between Diaz and Deputy Taylor Feist. During the struggle, Deputy Feist called out that Diaz had her gun. An officer saw a van driving in reverse on Southeast 14th Street before it entered a parking lot. The officer stopped the van and questioned the driver, who gave a false name. The driver, identified as Donald Hill, ran from the scene on foot. The officer chased Hill, and they began struggling. Around 8 p.m., the officer radioed for help, reporting a violent encounter. On December 6, 2021, Jose Mario Velez, 47, of Lompoc died after a pursuit initiated by Vandenberg Space Force Base Security Forces. Officers attempted a traffic stop due to erratic driving, but Velez did not stop. He was traveling northbound on Highway 1 when he lost control near the "Y" interchange with Highway 135, struck a milepost, became airborne, and went off an embankment. On December 5, 2021, Lawton Police Department officers responded to a 911 call reporting that Quadry Sanders was inside a residence in violation of a protective order and allegedly waving a firearm. Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter and attempted to communicate with Sanders. Sanders exited the residence and was ordered to show his hands. He initially complied but then moved behind a refrigerator. Officer Robert Hinkle fired four shots, striking Sanders. After falling, Sanders sat up with his hands raised, at which point Hinkle fired seven additional shots, and Officer Nathan Ronan fired four times. Michael Wayne Jackson was walking on a sidewalk in the Sunnyside neighborhood around 5:40 p.m. when Houston Police Department officers engaged in a high-speed chase of carjacking suspects. Officer Orlando Hernández, driving between 80 and 100 mph on a rain-slicked street, swerved to avoid stopped vehicles, jumped the curb, and struck Jackson. The impact threw him into a dumpster, killing him instantly. The posted speed limit was 40 mph. Hernández was suspended for 30 days. On 12/03/2021, a Ford Fusion reportedly carjacked in Cleveland was spotted traveling eastbound on Solon Road near Erico Drive. The driver accelerated, and police escalated a high-speed pursuit, reaching approximately 80 mph in a 35 mph zone. The chase extended into Bentleyville and Chagrin Falls before the officer allegedly "lost sight of the vehicle." Another officer later deployed stop sticks near Solon Road and Erico Drive.

On November 18, 2021, 34-year-old Antonia Lee Crum was found deceased at the America's Best Value Inn in West Melbourne, Florida. Emmanuel Joe Ayala, 35, initially cooperated with investigators but later ceased communication. Authorities located Ayala in Palm Bay and obtained a search warrant for his residence. Upon arrival, Ayala armed himself and barricaded himself inside his home. After several hours of negotiation, Ayala died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. On November 30, 2021, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to the fatal shooting of Ivan Wade Flowers at his home on South Kennard Road in Kennard, Indiana. On November 28, 2021, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting that a male family member, armed with a knife, had chased a woman from a residence in the 1400 block of Braden Loop in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Upon arrival, officers knocked on the door multiple times but received no response. They forcibly entered the home and encountered 32-year-old Digno "DJ" Ramon Yorro Jr., who was armed with a knife. Officers issued multiple commands for Yorro to drop the weapon, which he ignored. Non-lethal measures, including beanbag shotgun rounds and a Taser, were deployed but proved ineffective. Yorro then advanced towards the officers, still holding the knife, at which point Corporal Joseph Burger discharged his firearm, striking Yorro multiple times. Yorro was pronounced dead at the scene.

During a subsequent search of the residence, officers discovered the body of Yorro's mother in the garage; she had suffered multiple stab wounds. The Maryland Attorney General's Independent Investigations Division conducted a review of the incident. In September 2022, the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office declined to file charges against the involved officers, determining that their actions were justified under the circumstances.

On 11/28/2021, the Mounds View Police Department and New Brighton Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at a shopping area. Shortly after, there was a report of an armed robbery, and a man told officers someone had pointed a gun at him. Police encountered an employee of the Merwin Liquors store who said Kelley was alone inside. Police confronted Kelley and shot and killed him.

Bradley George Erickson drove away officers who attempted a traffic stop. Police pursued Erickson. Forest Lake Officers Jonathan Glader and Matthew Smith and Washington County Sheriff's Deputy Greg Reiter shot and killed him.
