On September 8, 2021, around 12:04 p.m., a Linn County deputy attempted to stop a blue Nissan Altima reported in a domestic disturbance. The driver, Leo Alan Ray, refused to stop. A pursuit began but was called off near Highway 151 and Wright Brothers Boulevard due to safety concerns. Shortly afterward, Ray’s vehicle crossed the center line on Highway 151 near the 300 block and collided nearly head-on with a northbound Kenworth dump truck. Ray and his female passenger were ejected and died at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.

On September 8, 2021, at approximately 7:24 p.m., Fayette County dispatch received a 911 call from a woman reporting a domestic dispute with her estranged husband, Kevin Fehl. Officers, familiar with Fehl due to prior interactions and aware of his propensity to carry weapons, were stationed in the area.

At approximately 8:24 p.m., officers spotted Fehl driving by their patrol cars. Police briefly chased him, and at 8:31 p.m., his vehicle hit spike strips that had been placed for him and stopped near County Road 710 West and West Johnson School Road in Orange Township. As officers approached, Fehl died by suicide under police duress.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on September 8, 2021, officers from the Bowling Green Police Department responded to a call regarding a tenant firing a shot that went through the wall of a neighboring apartment during an eviction process. The tenant, a male individual, fired another shot upon the officers' arrival, though not directed at them. A standoff ensued, lasting several hours, during which officers attempted to negotiate with the individual. At approximately 6:00 p.m., officers entered the apartment and discovered the individual deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team investigated the incident.

On 09/08/2021, Gilroy police officers responded to a report of an intoxicated man near 4th Street and Eigleberry Street in Gilroy, California. Police stated an officer made contact with David Lopez. Deputies were serving a felony warrant with Lufkin police officers assisting. Around 5 p.m., officers went to Bigs, formerly known as Cherry's Grocery, to arrest a customer who was wanted by the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole. When confronted, Richard Woods allegedly produced a handgun and aimed it at the deputy. The deputy then shot Woods. He allegedly reached for the handgun, which he had dropped, and the Lufkin Police officer also shot him. Whose bullet killed him was not immediately reported.

Following a call of a man attacking another man with a rifle about midnight, officers arrived to find a man standing in front of two mobile homes, bleeding from his head. The victim and a woman who was with him said they were robbed of their car keys, wallet, and cellphone by an armed white man. The victim said the man hit him in the head with the butt of a long gun. The victim directed officers to a mobile home on the backside of the property. Officers approached the mobile home and found the front door open but draped with a sheet. An officer knocked on the open door and seconds later, the man emerged with a rifle in his hands. Anthony Cravo allegedly raised the gun as if to shoot the officer. The officer shot and killed Cravo.

Around 4:30 p.m., a deputy stopped a car on Kingsland Court in Fruit Cove. When the deputy approached the car, which was parked in a driveway, the man driving fired one shot. The deputy then fired one shot. The deputy was not hurt, and the man was killed. Police later stated that Joshua Thornton shot and killed himself, and the deputy's bullet only caused a flesh wound.

On September 7, 2021, Trooper Stephen Mayer of the North Dakota Highway Patrol initiated a pursuit of 45-year-old Craig Knutson, who was reported for alleged reckless driving on I-94 near New Salem. The trooper escalated the chase, which continued for 21 miles at high speeds. During the pursuit, other troopers deployed spike strips, and Trooper Mayer executed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver, causing Knutson’s vehicle to spin and come to a stop.

After the vehicle stopped, Knutson was reportedly seen to have a gun. Trooper Mayer fired a shot, fatally wounding Knutson. A revolver was later found inside the vehicle. There are no claims that Knutson pointed the weapon at police.

On 09/07/2021, police responded to a report of gunshots and a possible burglary at a residence on 19th Street and Dakota Avenue. The woman inside the home called police while the man was in another room. When officers arrived, the man exited the house. He left the gun inside and exhibited odd movements, and may have been intoxicated. Police placed the man in handcuffs, and while being escorted to the police car, he collapsed and died. The cause of death was ruled to be asphyxiation during the restraint, but police did not explain how this happened to an unarmed man during arrest.

On September 6, 2021, at approximately 9:54 p.m., deputies from the Torrance County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) and officers from the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) responded to a domestic violence call at 23 Short Street in Moriarty, New Mexico. Upon arrival, 46-year-old Cimmeron Christy fired multiple shots at the officers from inside his residence. The officers retreated to a safe distance and called for assistance. The NMSP Crisis Negotiations Team, NMSP Tactical Team, and the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) SWAT Team responded to the scene. Negotiations were attempted, but Christy continued to fire shots toward the officers. An APD SWAT officer returned fire, fatally wounding Christy. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. No deputies or officers were injured during the incident. The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau is leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

About 3:30 p.m., a Garland police officer stopped the driver of a Honda Accord. When the officer reportedly found evidence of drugs inside the car, the driver, Bobby Lee Murphy, 37, sped away. Police pursued Murphy, who also had two passengers in the car, but lost him as he drove north on Garland Avenue. Another officer spotted Murphy, who drove through a red light at an intersection and hit a silver Toyota. The driver of the Toyota, Karla Rico, was killed. Her son was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

On September 4, 2021, Sergeant Fernando Chavez of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was completing a traffic citation on the side of U.S. Route 24 in Defiance, Ohio. A small pickup truck, driven by Justin Johnson of Defiance, crashed into Chavez's patrol car and the vehicle he had traffic-stopped.

Steven Robert Johnson, 52, who was riding in the passenger seat of the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. Justin Johnson sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

On September 3, 2021, Cedric Baxter, 60, of Compton, California, was involved in a violent incident in Buena Park.Baxter was observed firing a handgun at a school bus near Orangethorpe Avenue and Western Avenue. The bus was occupied by his estranged wife, who was the driver, and a 6-year-old child. Neither the driver nor the child was injured. Police escalated a chase, during which he rammed the school bus multiple times with his SUV. The chase concluded at the Buena Park School District parking lot, where Baxter crashed into a parked vehicle. About 6 a.m., a U.S. Border Patrol agent apprehended four migrants near the Rio Grande River. The agent handcuffed the four migrants to each other using three pairs of handcuffs. A female migrant managed to slip her hand from the handcuff as the agent assisted the migrants through a barbed wire fence en route to a Border Patrol unit. She then ran towards the Rio Grande approximately 50 feet and then fell from a 20-foot cliff in the darkness and died.

Officers were pursuing a sedan at approximately 2 a.m. During the chase, officers received a call from White Settlement police that the vehicle had been involved in past drive-by shootings and there was reason to believe occupants were considered armed and dangerous. Police pursued into Fort Worth. Three people got out of the sedan and tried to flee on foot. One of the three people allegedly pointed a weapon at one of the officers, who shot and killed Estevan Xavier Ramirez.

On September 3, 2021, at approximately 4 a.m., Lawrence Police officers attempted to stop a black 2013 Kia Soul near Pendleton Pike and Sheila Drive in Lawrence, Indiana. The vehicle, driven by 14-year-old Nazire Lee Parks, did not stop. Police escalated a pursuit. The chase lasted about 15 minutes, reaching speeds up to 90 mph. Police allegedly “called off the chase” near Interstate 65 and Traders Lane in Indianapolis.

ABoone County dispatch received a report of a vehicle crash near State Road 32 and County Road 650 East in Union Township. Lawrence Police officers arrived at the crash site before the first 911 call and were attempting to render aid to the occupants. The Kia Soul had left the roadway and struck a tree, resulting in the deaths of the driver, Nazire Parks, and front-seat passenger, 13-year-old Kamyla Young. Four other occupants—two 12-year-old girls, a 15-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old boy—sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

On 09/03/2021, deputies with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office were conducting surveillance in the area of East Harvard Avenue in Denver, Colorado. Police stated they located Lisa Bernadette Garcia and approached her. Police stated Garcia attempted to leave the area. Police alleged that during the encounter, Garcia produced a firearm. Deputies opened fire and shot Garcia multiple times, killing her at the scene.

On 09/03/2021, officers with the Westminster Police Department were conducting a surveillance operation at a residence on Billings Street in Denver, Colorado, while attempting to locate a man police stated was wanted in their jurisdiction. Police stated Drew Dominick Lucero exited the home and moved toward an officer’s vehicle. Police alleged that during the encounter, Lucero fired shots toward officers. Officers opened fire and shot and killed Lucero at the scene.

On September 3, 2021, the Los Angeles Police Department officers, who were investigating human-trafficking suspects, attempted to pull over a Mercedes-Benz during undercover surveillance in Koreatown. The vehicle fled, and the chase ended at the intersection of Sixth Street and Wilton Avenue when the Mercedes collided with three other vehicles. The driver of a white Toyota truck, an innocent bystander, was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

On September 3, 2021, Mark Edward Danley allegedly robbed a business in Weston around 10 a.m. Officers pursued Danley on U.S. Route 19 into Jane Lew, during which Danley rammed an officer's police cruiser. The pursuit involved troopers from the West Virginia State Police, deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, and Division of Natural Resources officers. The chase continued until stop sticks disabled Danley's vehicle, causing him to flee on foot. Danley ran into a backyard, where he attempted to take a man hostage. The man managed to push Danley to the ground. As Danley tried to get up and allegedly aimed to shoot at deputies, officers shot and killed him before he could fire.

On September 3, 2021, following a series of carjackings, David Wayne Marshall Jr. was confronted by law enforcement in Franklin, Wisconsin. Marcoz Paramo, 14, who was in the vehicle at the time, died as a result of the crash. Three other occupants were hospitalized with injuries.
