The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, along with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Marshals, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, went to a trailer to attempt to arrest Arnold Frazier Hager Jr. Hager was wanted for eight counts of sexual battery on a child in Maryland. When officers arrived, they used a PA system to order Hager to exit the trailer. Hager fired a gun from the trailer before coming out with a black semiautomatic handgun in his hand. Officers from FDLE and JSO shot and killed him.

On May 28, 2021, troopers from the West Virginia State Police, along with deputies, were attempting to locate a murder suspect in Martinsburg, West Virginia. While inside a home in the 100 block of Fairfax Street, a man shot and wounded a trooper who was protected by a ballistic vest. The man, identified as Herman King Myers Jr., then barricaded himself inside the home. Following an exchange of gunfire with troopers, officers entered the residence and found Myers dead. On 05/27/2021, police in Bethel Township and Huber Heights pursued a vehicle along State Route 202. Pennsylvania State Police were sent to do a welfare check on Jeffry E. Christopher around 10 p.m. He did not come out of his home, and they returned with a mental health warrant. Christopher reportedly fired two shots at police from around his home around 6 a.m. Around 9:15 a.m., police entered into Christopher's home and took him into custody after he resisted. The manner of death was withheld by police.

On 05/25/2021, Francis De La Cruz Abad, 21, was operating a Yamaha scooter when Officer Brian Davis of the Hamilton Township Police Department, driving an unmarked vehicle, attempted to initiate a stop shortly after 9 p.m. De La Cruz Abad continued traveling westbound on NJ-33 and collided with a Dodge Caravan. The driver of the Caravan was making a left turn into the Mercerville Shopping Center. De La Cruz Abad was thrown from the scooter, striking the windshield of the van, and was killed in the crash.

On May 23, 2021, Parkersburg Police officers responded to a reported stabbing in progress at the Oakwood Village Apartments, located at 2503 Beverly Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 60-year-old woman who had been stabbed multiple times with a meat cleaver. Rufus James Ramsey III was allegedly still armed with the weapon. An officer ordered Ramsey to drop the weapon, but he did not comply. The officer then shot and killed Ramsey.

On 05/22/2021, at approximately 8: 50 a.m., Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to a domestic assault incident in Beaver Township. Johnny Owen King, aged 63, had been residing on the property with his uncle and his uncle's ex-wife. The reported assault was between King and his uncle's ex-wife. Upon arrival, the troopers entered a travel trailer on the property and requested King to come outside for a conversation. King refused to comply, and according to reports, he armed himself with a .177 caliber pneumatic gun, commonly referred to as a BB gun. The troopers then shot and killed King. The incident is under investigation.

Officers responded to a burglary call at a car dealership around 4 a.m. They saw a driver in a blue Dodge Challenger leaving the dealership, which was later found abandoned with the engine still running. Around 1:24 a.m., an officer observed two vehicles speeding south on Gessner. The officer followed a green Ford pickup truck to the 9400 block of Bissonnet, where the driver pulled over. The driver and passenger explained they were speeding because another vehicle was shooting at them. While the officer spoke with them, a man walked from the south side of Bissonnet toward the police. The man reportedly reached into his pants and pulled out a gun, firing at least once. In response, three officers shot and killed him.

On May 20, 2021, James "Ray" Jarreau, a 57-year-old White male, was fatally shot by officers from the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police during an arrest attempt at 4243 Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Jarreau was believed to have been involved in the murder of his ex-girlfriend and the injury of another man in Pointe Coupee Parish. Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest.

On May 20, 2021, Washington County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Economy Inn on Lee Highway in response to a suspected violation of a protective order. Upon arriving at the motel room of Brandon Scott Odell, deputies obtained consent to search both the room and the vehicle. During the search, deputies discovered a gun in the vehicle and illegal narcotics in the room. As deputies attempted to take Odell into custody, he allegedly reached under a mattress and retrieved a handgun. One of the deputies shot and killed him during the confrontation.

On May 20, 2021, at around 6:00 a.m., Buffalo Police responded to a report of two people shot on Layer Avenue. The victims, 27-year-old Megan Wisniewski and 63-year-old Margie Ramos, were killed in the shooting. Later, at approximately 11:00 a.m., police located the shooter, 36-year-old Rafael Perez, and engaged in a standoff with him. Around noon, police reported that Perez was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, ending the standoff.

On May 19, 2021, at approximately 11:53 p.m., a Virginia State Police trooper conducting stationary radar on eastbound Interstate 64 noticed a motorcycle and a Hyundai Genesis speeding at 102 mph in a 65 mph zone. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicles, but both drivers fled the scene. A second trooper joined the pursuit, with speeds exceeding 125 mph. The driver of the Genesis lost control of the vehicle as he approached the Bowers Hill Interchange, ran off the road, and crashed into a tree line. The motorcycle continued and was lost by the troopers. The driver of the Genesis, Javaud Aubrey Ahangari, was killed in the crash.

On 05/19/2021, an Ionia County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle. The deputy located the allegedly stolen pickup truck and initiated a pursuit that spanned through Clinton County and ended in Eaton County. The chase concluded in Mulliken where Robert NazmiRouhman Jr. allegedly reversed his truck into the deputy's SUV, an action which police classified as felonious assault on a police officer. In response, the deputy shot and killed Rouhman Jr.

Deputies from the Collier County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for assistance from the Hendry County Sheriff's Office in the pursuit of a stolen dump truck driven by Rudolfo Villanueva into Immokalee. The truck did not stop, crashing into a vehicle on New Market Road, causing injuries to that driver. Villanueva continued driving recklessly, crashing into another vehicle and driving away from deputies into Farm Worker Village. Despite attempts to stop the truck, Villanueva continued to drive erratically. Deputies shot at the truck, which eventually crashed into a canal. Villanueva was killed.

Brendan Charlet, 19, was reportedly acting erratically at the Ash Flat Livestock Auction. A Highland officer later attempted a traffic stop, but Charlet did not stop. Officers from multiple agencies escalated a pursuit into Hardy. At the intersection of Highways 62 and 63, Charlet crashed into a Hardy police vehicle, sending both into a ditch. As officers approached, they heard a gunshot and found Charlet with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead shortly after. Charlet reportedly had outstanding charges in Louisiana and Alabama.

On 05/19/2021, deputies from the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office escalated a southbound chase on I-29, reaching speeds exceeding 100 mph. They deployed stop sticks south of Hillsboro, puncturing both front tires of the vehicle. The driver, Randy Cole, continued driving on the front rims, entered a construction zone, crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic, and collided with a northbound semi-truck. Cole was pronounced dead at the crash site. The incident is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

On May 12, 2021, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers from the Gervais Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 1000 block of Depot Court in Gervais, Oregon. They discovered 22-year-old Arik Reed suffering from a gunshot wound after attempting to prevent the kidnapping of 17-year-old Oliver "Ollie" Taylor. Kenneth William Peden III fled the scene with Taylor in a white Ford F-150 truck.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the Silverton Police Department, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, escalated a chase during which police engaged in a shootout. Taylor was found with a gunshot wound and transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries on May 19, 2021. Police have not disclosed who shot and killed Taylor during the shootout. Law enforcement has not released ballistics reports to confirm which bullet caused Taylor's death. A grand jury cleared the officers involved, determining that either way, the use of force was justified.

On 05/18/2021, a vehicle pursuit involving the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Adamsville Police Department, and Hayden Police Department ended at Exit 284 off Interstate 65 in Blount County, Alabama. The man, identified as 32-year-old Timothy James Hogland of Adamsville, exited his vehicle and attempted to carjack a motorist at gunpoint. He then fired at law enforcement officers, who returned fire and fatally wounded him at the scene. According to officials, he was also wanted for a homicide from May 13, 2021.

On 05/18/2021, law enforcement units responded to a 911 call in Chamblee reporting a kidnapping. Recognizing the vehicle from the call, officers pursued the car into downtown Decatur, Georgia, where the vehicle crashed at West Howard Ave and N. McDonough St. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Tyrone Penny, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. During the pursuit and after officers attempted to incapacitate him, multiple officers fired their weapons and Penny was struck and later pronounced dead. The kidnapping victim was reported safe, and no officers were injured.

On 05/18/2021, a 22-year-old man from Hilton Head Island was killed in a crash on U.S. 278. His sister alleges the high-speed driving was connected to a nearby police pursuit. The crash occurred when the driver lost control of his car and struck a guardrail. Law-enforcement confirmed the vehicle was traveling at very high speed at the time. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office are considering links to the pursuit.
