On 05/16/2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire inside the Las Vegas Athletic Club located at 1725 N. Rainbow Blvd. Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed man exiting the facility. Officers opened fire, striking the individual. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.Inside the gym, officers discovered one deceased individual and multiple injured victims. Three individuals were transported to local hospitals, with one reported in critical condition. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.

On 05/11/2025, Natchez Police Department officers attempted to serve a felony warrant for attempted murder on Phillip Stokes Jr., who was wanted in connection with a shooting that injured a woman on Lafayette Street on 05/09/2025.Upon locating Stokes near the old Natchez Visitor Center on South Canal Road, officers approached his vehicle and instructed him to exit. Stokes exited the vehicle and opened fire on the officers. Officers opened fire, critically injuring Stokes. He was transported to Merit Health Natchez and later transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he was pronounced dead on 05/16/2025. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation into the shooting.

Emergency responders transported Basquette to Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Pickens County Coroner determined the cause of death to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, not injuries from the crash. On 05/15/2025, Houston Police Department officers responded to a suicide-in-progress call at an apartment complex at 9255 West Sam Houston Parkway South. A woman told officers her brother was threatening self-harm. As officers approached, the man exited with a large knife and charged at them. On 05/15/2025, deputies from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop on Sheraton Drive. During the stop, the driver of the vehicle did not stop. Deputies escalated a high-speed chase and alleged that they lost sight of the vehicle and “called off the chase.” Moments later, the vehicle that was still fleeing ran a traffic light at the intersection of Sheraton Drive and Old Jackson Highway and collided with a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle caught fire upon impact.
Deputies and emergency services responded to the scene, extracting occupants from the burning vehicle. Jaquavious Baptiste, a 16-year-old front-seat passenger from Elko, South Carolina, was transported to Wellstar MCG, where he was pronounced dead at 9:23 p.m. Other passengers sustained injuries and were treated at a local hospital.

On May 14, 2025, at approximately 7:00 PM, officers responded to multiple calls about a man acting erratically and attempting to break into a public restroom on the 300 block of Oyster Point Boulevard. The man, identified as 38-year-old Andrew Mate from Ohio, was reportedly yelling obscenities and using a metal object to force entry. Upon arrival, Mate fled on foot, holding what appeared to be a firearm. Officers pursued him through a crowded public area and attempted to subdue him using less-lethal force, which proved ineffective. Mate then allegedly pointed the replica firearm at officers. Two SSFPD officers and one San Bruno officer opened fire. Mate was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or civilians were injured. The California Department of Justice is investigating the incident, and the involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave. He had been unarmed.

Police received multiple 911 calls about a man swinging a knife at cars in the 500 block of 16th Avenue. Officers found Sean Ybarra in the 1900 block of 2nd Street still armed with a knife and reportedly yelling at passing vehicles. Around 9:54 p.m., Syracuse Police responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment building on North Townsend Street. Officers encountered 42-year-old Donnell Hogan, who was actively shooting inside the building. At least one officer fired their weapon during the encounter. Hogan was pronounced dead at the scene. Thomas Bean, 36, was killed by police after firing a semi-automatic rifle at responding officers during a domestic disturbance call on Washington Drive. Police say Bean had already shot and killed 29-year-old Jesse Bidgood, who was dating Bean’s sister, prior to their arrival. Seven officers from Fairbanks Police and Alaska State Troopers returned fire after Bean shot at patrol vehicles. Two officers sustained minor shrapnel injuries. On May 12, 2025, at approximately 11:37 p.m., Anchorage Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a defective headlight near the 300 block of Bragaw Street. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer on the passenger side observed a firearm in the driver's lap. After verbal communication, the officer discharged their weapon, fatally striking the driver, identified by family members as 42-year-old Utuva Alaelua. It is unclear whether Alaelua touched the firearm before the shooting. The incident is under investigation by the Anchorage Police Department and the Office of Special Prosecutions.

On May 11, 2025, Mansfield Police officers identified a vehicle with a stolen license plate entering the city on FM 917. The vehicle, occupied by a driver and a front-seat passenger, fled from officers and entered U.S. 287 southbound. The vehicle continued to evade officers and entered the city of Midlothian. At approximately the 4000 block of West U.S. 287, the vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes before colliding with another vehicle. The driver was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. The front-seat passenger was transported by CareFlite to Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas in critical condition. All occupants of the second vehicle were transported to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle was confirmed stolen from the city of Grand Prairie.

On May 11, 2025, a Duchesne County deputy responded to a domestic violence call in western Duchesne County. The woman reportedly opened the door holding a handgun, allegedly pointing it at the deputy. The deputy opened fire, striking her in the chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Utah State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.

Millcreek Township Police responded to a disturbance at The Reserve at Millcreek apartment complex. Officers encountered 36-year-old Patrick Kanonczyk, who allegedly threw a hammer at police and wielded another weapon. Officers opened fire, killing him. A full investigation is underway by the Pennsylvania State Police.

On May 11, 2025, South Whitehall Township Police responded to an incident at the Weis Markets grocery store located in the 1500 block of North Cedar Crest Boulevard. During the police response, 45-year-old Timothy D. Vanbilliard of Emmaus was involved in an undisclosed incident. He was transported to the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, where he was pronounced dead at 2:59 p.m.
An autopsy was conducted on May 13, 2025, by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, including toxicology and microscopic studies. The incident is under joint investigation by the South Whitehall Township Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office.

On May 10, 2025, Shreveport police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a home in the 8800 block of Yancey Place. Officers encountered 44-year-old Ricardo Ware, who had allegedly shot and killed 35-year-old Randall L. Jack, his brother-in-law, during a family dispute. On 05/10/2025, around 1:30 a.m., Cushing police attempted a traffic stop when they noticed a firearm in the vehicle driven by Curtis Russell. Russell refused to provide identification and continued driving. Officers pursued him through Cushing and into Lincoln County. A deputy later located Russell at a rural property at East 790 Road and 3500 Road. Russell exited the vehicle, ordered the deputy to leave, and fired at him. The deputy retreated and called for backup. Russell continued shooting when Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other officers arrived. Troopers opened fire and killed him.

Around 7:11 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to reports of a shooting at a family gathering on Yancey Place. Officers found 36-year-old Randall Jack shot in the head. The armed shooter reportedly emerged from the residence and was shot and killed by police. No officers were injured. The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations is leading the investigation.

Seattle Police attempted to stop a driver early Saturday morning who was reportedly involved in a crash during a high-speed chase on Interstate 5. The pursuit ended on the Ship Canal Bridge, where the driver crashed the vehicle. He then exited the car and jumped off the bridge. Emergency responders located and recovered his body.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of an "unwanted person" at a Walgreens located at 21650 State Highway 18 in Apple Valley, California. Upon arrival, deputies found 32-year-old Cesar Villalpando inside a bathroom stall.
Villalpando appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was detained without incident. Medical personnel at the scene cleared him for booking. However, upon arrival at the High Desert Detention Center around 5:10 p.m., Villalpando was found unresponsive.
Deputies administered Narcan, and jail medical staff attempted life-saving measures. Villalpando was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division is conducting an investigation into the incident.
