On 03/19/2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Pinehurst police responded to a report of a suspicious person at a home on Remington Lane. Officers saw smoke coming from the home and called firefighters. While firefighters were working, a man exited the house, grabbed an ax left by the door, and charged at officers and firefighters. Police fired a Taser, but it was ineffective. Officers opened fire, killing him. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the incident.

On 03/19/2025, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Jackson County Sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals attempted to arrest a man with 15 nationwide extraditable warrants for child sex abuse. The man was involved in a domestic altercation on 03/16/2025, during which he allegedly threatened a woman with a firearm. Law enforcement located the man in the 6000 block of Table Rock Road in rural Central Point. After a brief standoff during a high-risk traffic stop near the intersection of Orr Drive and Table Rock Road, the man died by apparent suicide by firearm at approximately 2:15 p.m. The Oregon State Police are investigating the incident.

Officers attempted de-escalation tactics, including the use of a less-lethal 40 mm launcher that fires sponge rounds; however, these measures were unsuccessful. Seay continued to advance toward the officers, prompting Officer Kyle Hay, an 11-year veteran of the force, to discharge his firearm, striking Seay. Seay was pronounced dead at the scene. The Seattle Police Department's Force Investigation Team is conducting an investigation into the incident.

On March 18, 2025, Amarillo Police Department officers responded to the 4900 block of Southwest 16th Avenue, where 33-year-old Zane Calum Prescott was sitting inside his car, with a gun. Negotiators engaged with Prescott for several hours, attempting to convince him to surrender. During the standoff, police discovered he was violating a protective order that prohibited him from possessing a firearm. An arrest warrant was issued, and when officers attempted to take him into custody, Prescott rammed through a fence at the south end of his home and drove off. Police pursued him to Bushland, where his vehicle stalled at Bushland Road and Wind River Drive. Prescott was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On March 18, 2025, just after midnight, Brazoria County Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 20-year-old male driver along Highway 6 near Kirby Drive in Manvel. The stop was initiated for failure to maintain a signal-marked lane. During the stop, the driver informed deputies that he had a firearm in his vehicle. As a deputy began searching the vehicle, the driver reached through the passenger side, retrieved the gun, and ran into a wooded area. While fleeing, the driver died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation is ongoing.

On March 18, 2025, Savannah Police Department officers were involved in a high-speed pursuit of a silver Jeep Compass driven by a man linked to a previous shooting at the Westlake Apartments. Police chased him to Liberty Parkway, where his vehicle collided with a maroon Chevrolet Malibu driven by 60-year-old Darren Lewis, who was attempting to enter Liberty Parkway from Upson Street. The impact struck the driver's side of Lewis's vehicle, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. The Georgia State Patrol is conducting an investigation into the incident.

Darren Lewis, a husband, father, and ex-Marine, was remembered by neighbors in the Liberty City community as a kind and quiet individual who brought positivity to those around him. John Jackson, a neighbor, remarked, "He was cool people, he was quiet, he didn’t make no noise, just laugh and talk." Another neighbor, Doreather Woods, shared, "Everything I know about him was nice... He was just a nice person." A memorial with flowers and a cross was established along Liberty Parkway to honor his memory.

On March 18, 2025, around 2:35 a.m., an Allen Police Department officer attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on southbound US 75. The driver, later identified as Jonathan Jaramillo, refused to stop. Officers escalated a brief pursuit that ended within a minute when Jaramillo lost control and crashed into a wooded area along the service road. The vehicle came to rest on its passenger side, pinned against a tree. Jaramillo was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

On 03/17/2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Modesto police officers attempted to arrest 40-year-old Jimmy Lee Rupe, who had multiple felony warrants for lewd acts with a child and firearm-related charges. On March 17, 2025, 28-year-old Robert "Bob" Halmayr of Glen Ellen was driving a silver Toyota Camry northbound on Farmer’s Lane in Santa Rosa when he was struck by a gray Nissan Maxima driven by Aaron Rodriguez Hernandez, 21. Hernandez was being monitored by police who had earlier observed him speeding. Although police stated they did not maintain continuous visual contact and were not in a position to conduct a stop, they saw the Maxima again shortly before the crash. The collision occurred at Montgomery Drive and Farmer’s Lane, pushing both vehicles into a nearby parking lot. Halmayr was pronounced dead at the scene. Hernandez was arrested and faces charges including vehicular manslaughter, DUI drugs with injury, and violation of probation.

On March 16, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Ravenna Police Department officers responded to a report of a man with a gun sleeping on the floor of an apartment in the 600 block of Hazen Street. Upon arrival, officers observed 48-year-old Shawn Ware lying on the floor with a firearm in his waistband. Officers retreated and issued verbal commands for Ware to drop the weapon. Moments later, Ware exited the apartment using another man as a human shield. The hostage broke free, after which Ware pointed his weapon at officers. Police opened fire and killed him. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.

On March 16, 2025, at approximately 10:06 p.m., Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance involving a weapon at a residence in the Settlers Bay area of Wasilla. The man, identified as 34-year-old Brett George, allegedly threatened two adult family members with a weapon. As law enforcement officers from the Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, and Wasilla Police Department responded, the family members were able to escape the residence and leave the area. George then donned body armor and an assault rifle, and left the residence in a vehicle. A Wasilla police officer initiated a traffic stop on George's vehicle a short distance away, but George fled, leading to a pursuit. At the intersection of Knik Goose Bay Road and Settlers Bay Drive, George exited his vehicle and fired the assault rifle at the marked Wasilla police car. The Wasilla police officer returned fire, striking George, who was declared deceased at the scene. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility, and the incident will be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions.

On March 16, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Hawaii Police Department officers responded to a reported home invasion in the 18-1300 block of Ihope Road in Mountain View. Christopher Lucrisia had allegedly entered the residence, threatened the occupants, and stolen keys to a vehicle parked outside.Lucrisia, who was armed with a rifle and a pistol, hid in the stolen vehicle on the property. As detectives and members of the Specialized Response Team (SRT) arrived, Lucrisia began firing at them. One officer returned fire. After a period of attempted negotiations and no response from Lucrisia, officers deployed a drone and observed him unresponsive in the vehicle's rear seat. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. This incident concluded a nearly three-day manhunt that began after Lucrisia allegedly shot and injured a police officer on March 14, 2025.

Gregory Thompson, 60, was believed to be involved in the disappearance and death of Bernadine Rogers, 60, who was reported missing on 03/03/2025 in Wilkinson County, Mississippi. Her body was discovered on 03/06/2025. Authorities identified Thompson as a suspect due to his relationship with Rogers and conflicting statements about their association. After the discovery of Rogers' body, he ceased communication with law enforcement. On 03/16/2025, Concordia Parish deputies, narcotics task force agents, and Vidalia police officers arrived at Thompson’s residence in Clayton, Louisiana, to execute an arrest warrant. As officers attempted entry, Thompson shot himself. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police fired a Taser, but it was ineffective. Officers opened fire, killing him. A five-inch knife was recovered at the scene, and a firearm was found in Lee's vehicle. Lee had been on parole.

The driver, 42-year-old James Combs of Salinas, had crashed his car into a guardrail. Upon arrival, a CHP officer encountered Combs, who allegedly produced a pocket knife with a 4-inch blade. On March 15, 2025, at approximately 7:31 p.m., Forks Township Police officers pursued a 2016 Kia driven by a 65-year-old male from Easton, Pennsylvania. The pursuit ended near North Broadway and Tribe Lane in Wind Gap Borough when the vehicle became disabled. An armed confrontation ensued, during which the man shot himself, and a Forks Township officer also fired their weapon. He was transported to Saint Luke’s Anderson Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

On March 15, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Miami Police Department cruiser was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Northwest 7th Street and 47th Avenue. The officer’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on 7th Street when it collided with a Toyota sedan making a left turn onto 47th Avenue. The impact caused the police cruiser to veer onto the sidewalk, striking two pedestrians at a bus stop.

Michelle Veronica Salmeron Membreno, 23, was critically injured and transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she died. A second pedestrian was hospitalized in stable condition with leg injuries. The officer involved was also transported to the hospital and later released.

The Miami Police Department's traffic homicide unit is investigating to determine whether the officer's emergency lights were activated and the speed of the vehicles involved.

Following the incident, Sanchez's family and community members gathered outside the Southeast Los Angeles Police Department Station to protest the shooting, holding signs that read "A cellphone is not a gun" and "Justice for Mario Sanchez." His sister, Evelyn Sanchez, stated that her brother had texted her at 10:20 p.m., informing her he had been pulled over by the LAPD, and was killed within minutes of that message. She described Mario as a forklift driver and father of two, demanding accountability for the officers involved.

Investigation:
The California Department of Justice is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting, as mandated by AB 1506, which requires such reviews when an unarmed civilian is killed by law enforcement.

On March 13, 2025, Gila County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a theft in progress at GO AZ Motorcycles in Rye, Arizona. Upon arrival, deputies found a pickup truck towing a trailer loaded with UTVs. When deputies attempted to make contact, the driver of the pickup truck failed to comply with commands. One deputy fired his weapon, and the driver of the truck was struck. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men fled and remain at large.
