On February 27, 2025, George C. Manning allegedly shot and killed a woman at a car wash near Vivion Road and NW High Drive before stealing her vehicle. He then traveled to a residence on NW 50th Street, where he shot a juvenile boy and an adult woman, killing the boy and hospitalizing the woman. Manning abducted a 5-year-old girl from the home, triggering an Amber Alert. He later released the child to a relative. Manning fled to Kansas City, Kansas, where he reportedly fired shots at a bar and committed carjackings. On February 28, authorities located Manning walking along Vivion Road in Riverside, Missouri. Officers confronted him and observed he was armed. Under unclear circumstances, officers opened fire and killed him. The Platte County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

On February 28, 2025, Toby Gray, 39, was pronounced dead at Bryan Health West Campus in Lincoln, Nebraska. Gray had been in custody at the hospital since February 21, 2025, after being found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his residence in rural Harvard, Nebraska. Earlier that evening, Gray had called Clay County 911 threatening harm against his wife, Heather Gray, 35. Deputies responded to the home and found Heather Gray deceased from multiple gunshot wounds and Toby Gray with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Toby Gray was arrested on charges of first-degree murder but remained hospitalized until his death.

On February 28, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Hyattsville police officers attempted to stop a Lincoln sedan in the 3300 block of East-West Highway. The driver initially stopped but then did not comply. Police escalated a chase but soon discontinued it near the intersection of East-West Highway and 23rd Avenue. The driver continued, veered onto the shoulder, and struck a female pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was apprehended and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
