Officers were told items had been taken from a home, including a firearm. Police located the vehicle in Española, where it stopped outside Lowe’s. On April 10, 2025, Fresno Police responded to a report of a woman holding a knife to a bystander at the FAX Transit Center near Blackstone and Shields Avenues. A 35-year-old family member was shot and injured before police arrived. The man fired multiple shots at responding officers. Gary SWAT, with assistance from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, used tear gas and tactical equipment. Around 4:20 a.m., the man exited the home holding the baby and pointing a gun at officers. A Gary officer shot and killed him. The baby appeared physically unharmed.

A person fled the scene of a robbery in a stolen vehicle. Atlanta Police later spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop. On April 7, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., San Joaquin County Sheriff's deputies responded to Eastside Community Park in Garden Acres, California, following complaints of illegal dumping. They encountered 41-year-old Gregory Fitzgerald and a female companion near a vehicle with expired registration. Deputies observed what appeared to be a rifle in the vehicle, which the woman identified as a pellet gun.
When deputies attempted to detain Fitzgerald, he fled on foot, leading to a pursuit that culminated in Fitzgerald climbing onto the roof of a residence on East Ardelle Avenue. Over a two-hour standoff, Fitzgerald repeatedly claimed to be armed and threatened to shoot deputies. At approximately 11:14 a.m., Fitzgerald allegedly raised a black object towards deputies.
A SWAT operator and two deputies opened fire, striking Fitzgerald. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No firearm was recovered at the scene; the object Fitzgerald pointed was later identified as a non-lethal item.
The California Department of Justice is investigating the incident under Assembly Bill 1506, which mandates state-level review of officer-involved shootings resulting in the death of unarmed individuals.

Bret Winn allegedly stole a vehicle in unincorporated Pierce County around 12:25 p.m. on April 5, 2025, then crashed it and under pursuit, carjacked another near South 56th Street and Pacific Avenue. Tacoma police pursued the man into Puyallup, where Puyallup police deployed spike strips on Valley Avenue. He allegedly exited the second vehicle with a knife. Two Puyallup police officers opened fire and killed him.

Perez underwent multiple surgeries, including the removal of bullets and a leg amputation, before being declared brain-dead. He was removed from life support and died on April 12. Paige M. Newsum, 57, of Bradenton, Florida, was killed after a high-speed police pursuit that began in Cook County and crossed multiple jurisdictions. Deputies from Cook, Crisp, and Turner counties pursued Newsum's Cadillac north on Interstate 75 at speeds exceeding 100 mph. At approximately 3:20 a.m. on April 4, 2025, police attempted a traffic stop near 7200 South State Street in Midvale, Utah. The vehicle did not stop. Police escalated to a chase, during which a passenger, later identified as 41-year-old Luis Gomez of Provo, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers found Gomez hiding in the bed of a dump truck at 7420 South State Street. He barricaded himself inside the truck bed and pointed a firearm at an officer’s head. A SWAT team responded, and after several hours of negotiations, Gomez died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
