On March 16, 2025, at approximately 10:06 p.m., Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance involving a weapon at a residence in the Settlers Bay area of Wasilla. The man, identified as 34-year-old Brett George, allegedly threatened two adult family members with a weapon. As law enforcement officers from the Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, and Wasilla Police Department responded, the family members were able to escape the residence and leave the area. George then donned body armor and an assault rifle, and left the residence in a vehicle. A Wasilla police officer initiated a traffic stop on George's vehicle a short distance away, but George fled, leading to a pursuit. At the intersection of Knik Goose Bay Road and Settlers Bay Drive, George exited his vehicle and fired the assault rifle at the marked Wasilla police car. The Wasilla police officer returned fire, striking George, who was declared deceased at the scene. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility, and the incident will be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions.

On March 16, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Hawaii Police Department officers responded to a reported home invasion in the 18-1300 block of Ihope Road in Mountain View. Christopher Lucrisia had allegedly entered the residence, threatened the occupants, and stolen keys to a vehicle parked outside.Lucrisia, who was armed with a rifle and a pistol, hid in the stolen vehicle on the property. As detectives and members of the Specialized Response Team (SRT) arrived, Lucrisia began firing at them. One officer returned fire. After a period of attempted negotiations and no response from Lucrisia, officers deployed a drone and observed him unresponsive in the vehicle's rear seat. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. This incident concluded a nearly three-day manhunt that began after Lucrisia allegedly shot and injured a police officer on March 14, 2025.
